Ohana or Kona??

Hi! We've never been to either and wanted to try one of them. I'm leaning towards Ohana because everytime I'm on the boards people are raving about the bread pudding! Oh, it would be for lunch or dinner, probably dinner.

I would definitely go to 'Ohana! 'Ohana is more than just a meal, it is an experience. The atmosphere is so fun, and just has a disney "feel" to it. The castle is right outside the window, you can even time it to watch Wishes while you dine. To me, Kona just felt like a normal cafe. While the food was good, your looking out into the lobby of the Poly. It just doesn't have the same special atmosphere. I would choose 'Ohana in a heartbeat! Good luck deciding!

Kona is the best meal I've had on Disney property (well, outside of V&A of course)!

IMO, you can't go wrong either way but for me, Kona edges out 'Ohana! 'Ohana is fun, especially if you're traveling with kids as there will be activities for them. The only complaint I have with 'Ohana is that they really rush out the food. We'd still be working on one thing and the next would come out. It was yummy but I definitely felt rushed.

I think the food at Kona is slightly better, but Ohana is more fun, and the bread pudding is to die for.

I don't think there is a wrong choice. They are both WONDERFUL !!

Both are awesome and as others have said there is no bad choice here! My vote goes to Ohana in your case only because you will get more varierty for your dollar since you have never been to either. It'll be a great way to try a number of dishes without breaking the bank and you'll get a pretty good feel for Polynesian food.

Personally, we prefer Kona Cafe and no longer refer individuals to Ohana if their looking for a great meal. There are just too many factors these days that impact Ohana's consistency. Notable changes align to the increase in ddp popularity. Kona has provided timely and attentive service everytime we have dined. We are unable to say this about Ohana. The last three times we tried Ohana the service was lacking and the ability to get full meal selections to guest was a big challenge. Dishes being actually dropped on tables all around us was common without a word spoken as staff ran away. They were not fresh..it was eveything is prepared well in advance with the exception of the meat offerings. Running out of the prime meats was common too. Who wants sirlion with your bread pudding? We no longer give Ohana another chance.

I would note if you do select Ohana is to ensure you are seated in the main area which are the tables in front of the grill. You do not want to be seated in the other areas if you want service or want to see-participate in the little entertainment activities. The worse area tends to be the area behind the grill, which at one time was part of the Tambu Lounge.
