August 13th Day 2 Part 2: It's time for Lunch!

CS and the family continued their quest for more princesses by heading on over to Ariel's Grotto. They also got to ride Under the Sea with Ariel, a ride the kids really enjoyed.

Ariel: "This is the proper way to use a dinglehopper"
Sienna: "Are you lunch?"

Is that a little smile I see from Caylee?

They managed to do the Carousel, Winnie the Pooh, and Philharmagic as well! Good job CS for keeping everyone on track! I can retire now.

Sienna: "I'm sooo over this"

They continued their pictures as they headed on to Tomorrowland to meet up with us.

We met up with everyone at Buzz Lightyear. This is one of those rides where the wait times can be 15 minutes or 45 minutes and it was a good thing we had FP as the wait was close to 40 minutes at that point. I think it really depends on timing. I dont' know why but these were the only ride pictures we managed to get:

Sienna: "I'm going to hurl, catch it mommy!"

Hahaha.

I believe I went on the ride with Sophie and CS went on with Eva. I don't think the shooting rides are really Eva's thing as she was just meh with this whole ride. She definitely liked the cuter rides!

Now it was time for....LUNCH!! We headed to my favorite quick service, Columbia Harbor House. On the way we got these shots:

It was still fairly early, like before noon, and CHH place wasn't crowded yet. We placed our orders at the counter and sat in one of the sun-filled rooms on the first floor.

Someone was really happy:

Sienna: "I love Disney!"

DH and I shared the Combo platter with Chicken, Fish, and Shrimp as well as a chicken Caesar salad. The fried stuff was great. The salad was not...too over dressed.

There's salad in there...somewhere!

Everyone enjoyed lunch at CHH!

Your pictures of the Great Movie Ride is making me wish that we had done it one last time when we were there in August. I'm glad you guys made it, and also that you were able to take advantage of the last week of the Express bus service.

Your family looks like they had a great morning at MK and they got so much accomplished! I can't believe your sister was wearing that sweater in the August heat - that is some Disney bounding dedication!!

I love CHH. We tried to eat there last trip, but had to leave because my kids are allergic to shellfish . So no CHH for me unless they outgrow their allergies, or we can sneak away without them.

I wouldn't know.... my real alarm usually goes off several hours before my body is even thinking of getting up.
Then again, I usually only go with 3-4 hours sleep. Things to do!

I can survive on little sleep too, especially at WDW. Who needs sleep at WDW?

Technically we can all fit in one but because of the strollers we had to use two. Well, 1.5 realistically.

They were great, they wiped up sweat better than regular towels or napkins and barely took up any room.

Just sheer luck that we were gonna be there on the last day...so we HAD to make it happen!

Jealous of this too. We had planned on using this, but no...we had to deal with going through security every time we park hopped...

Ugh yeah, so disappointed this wasn't continued. This would have been perfect for really crowded times at the parks, like race weekends and holidays. I hope they bring it back. I would be willing to pay a little more. Time saved at Disney is priceless to me!

She was hilarious. She just did not want anything to do with characters.

I think you are nailing Sienna's thoughts!

I can't imagine putting the sweater back on - once it was off, that would be the end for me! I was recently telling someone a story about a middle school band competition we used to go to, at Worlds of Fun amusement park in KC. We would get to run the park all day with friends, and in the hottest part of the day, troop back to the buses and change into our band uniforms - long sleeve black shirts and khaki pants. The last thing you wanted to do was put more clothing on! Then we waited outside in the sun until it was our turn to perform - on the outdoor stage. Good memories

Everyone looks like they're having such a great time! Good thing CS could fill your shoes that morning too I'm so bummed we missed GMR, I was sure it wouldn't close before our trip when I heard the rumors. Maybe it's silly, but we did hit Ellen and I thought the giant ride vehicles were really cool

I'm glad you were able to ride GMR for the last time. I'll miss it. On our trip last January, we got the cowboy scene for the first time since the '90's. When I realized we were getting the cowboy, I gasped loudly and yelled, "The cowboy!" Rows of people in front of me all turned and stared. Needless to say, I was pretty embarrassed!

CS looks fabulous, as always!

Eva is such a little sweetie! Too bad Caylee wasn't enjoying the character meets as much.

I just learned that Columbia Harbor House removed my favorite, The Lighthouse Sandwich, from the menu. I loved that sandwich and am so disappointed. I don't eat a lot of fried food and that was such a great option.

Too bad the salad was overdressed. I've run into that a lot at Disney and sometimes ask if I can have the dressing on the side. It takes longer to get it, but worth it.

What we DID NOT expect was we ended up waiting only 25 minutes until we were seated for the last time in the large ride vehicles:

That happened to us a few times - I often wondered if they just had left the times up from the night before! But good that you ended up not waiting 55 minutes.

Hmm, I'm not sure why the posted wait was 55 minutes - maybe to discourage people?

Maybe...who knows...but you were lucky for it!

Chunkysis Disney-bounded as Snow White. Yes it was 95 degrees that day. She did take off the sweater when not in pictures though.

I can not imagine but she didn't even look that hot!! I'm sure she was though...remembering how hot I was in a tank top and shorts!

She was really embracing the dressing up and posing for pictures. I think Chunkysis is rubbing off on her.

So adorable!! Also that is the princess I still have to figure out where she's from...

Hey I do hope we can catch up in NYC next week!! I am really just tagging along on my parents' trip so they have made a lot of plans....so I hope we can squeeze it in!! My mom's cousin teaches at Yale and I think it will be fun to visit out there and see the campus...but it's also taking a day away from our NYC time lol Luckily I have been there several times...but there's never enough time in NYC...just like WDW lol

Love all your pictures from TGMR so upset it's gone. I'm so glad we rode it in May just didn't realize it would be our last time
Same thing with Express Transportation I'm still in denial about this
We used it so much during our March and May trip. It was a life saver for my knee. Especially going to AK it's such a long walk from the buses back to Africa or Asia when your knee is screaming. We got so much more done than ever before. Even though the Minnie Vans are cute still doesn't get you inside the parks.
The princess pictures are adorable.

We got Gangster as usual. I think I've only gotten Cowboy once!

We always get the gangster! And not only that, but our last few trips I'm pretty sure we got the exact same woman, who kind of mumbled and spoke softly the whole time in that weird "gangster" accent. It was annoying :/

I am really excited about the new ride, and I think GMR really needed a facelift if it was going to stay, but I'm still sad we didn't get to ride it one more time. I still haven't really accepted that it's not going to be there next time we go!

Unfortunately we heard that day that it was to be the last week of Express Bus.

Still sad about this one, too! Though honestly, there was almost never anyone on the bus with us, so though it was super convenient I figure they had to be losing money on the cost of actually running those buses. We had planned to use it on our next May trip, but I guess we'll have to go back to doing security like the masses

Yum!! So glad that you guys got to do some DHS stuff and that everyone else seemed to have a great time at MK - good plan to do the characters early and use FPs for other things. I love character meets, but some of the big attractions can get crazy, too. Can't wait to hear about dinner at BOG - we still haven't managed to do that one, and I'm curious!

But it was not that long at all. So enjoy these pictures from our last ride though the history of movies. Sophie certainly enjoyed herself and I think she understood how this was the last time any of us would be riding it. ​

I'd honestly been delaying reading this update, I have been realllly bumming over GMR and wasn't sure I was ready for the pictures! It was bittersweet, you got some really great final photos, but it was still kinda gut-wrenching to see How did the CM do? (emotionally I mean ha) I really was thinking a lot about the CMs during the final days. I'm sure many of them had been doing it for a long time and really mourned it

the posted wait time was 55 minutes, but at least it seemed to be moving. Oh well, this would probably be the shortest time all day. I got in line with Steve and Sophie. Kelly and Honyee took Mimi to ride Toy Story instead as she'd probably not last the hour long wait and she had no particular attachment to this ride. She probably rode it once a few years ago and doesn't remember it. While in line I sent Steve to fill up my popcorn bucket and get us some waters as we braced ourselves for a long wait. What we DID NOT expect was we ended up waiting only 25 minutes until we were seated for the last time in the large ride vehicles:

I'm glad it ended up being a shorter wait...I swear they inflate times early, especially for TSMM. I guess in an effort to get people to stuff like the Backstage Dreams meet and greet and over toward Muppets/Star Tours b/c it's dead over there in the mornings. But I don't understand inflating the time for GMR on its last day.

I'm glad you guys ended up getting to say a proper goodbye.

Oh. My. Gosh. This is amazing, and my favorite of the bunch. This is what Disney is all about!!

CHH is the perfect quick service restaurant. If you time it right it's quick and quiet and the food is consistently good. It's my boys' favorite, and probably mine too!
This looks like a really solid first half of the day!!
