Oh my word, why have none of you mentioned to me that there is dinnertime hula hooping at Ohana?! :yay: I just came across this tidbit and nearly lost my mind. For an amateur, I am quite a fantastic hula hooper (if I do say so myself). I can do a number of amazing tricks, such as lowering the hoop from neck to my waist and even back up without using my hands, hula hooping around my elbow, etc. (I need a "patting myself on the back" emoji). So, now, do tell: Is hula hooping an "always available" activity at an Ohana dinner? Are adults allowed to participate, or is it just for the kiddos? If the latter, I will just need to live vicariously through my older son, who is an above average hula hooper himself. :D

I don't recall there ever being hula hoops. They have hula dancing (which adults are welcome to join). Is it something new?

Have not see hula hooping at 'Ohana (the tables are too close together for that). They do have coconut races (where you chase a coconut around with a broom). I have also see hula lessons at the Poly some Saturday afternoons.

Hmmm. Interesting. It is listed on the official Disney Ohana website: "As you savor the all-you-care-to-enjoy, Polynesian-style delights, delight in coconut races in which children armed with brooms sweep coconuts across the restaurant’s hardwood floors. The fun continues as everyone is encouraged to play with hula hoops and dance to island music."

Google also revealed a couple of pics that appear to be folks hula hooping at Ohana. Maybe they do it only rarely? Hmm.

Anyway, I know I am a little silly about this. Any time I see hula hoops, I get excited! :yay:

Ive only seen the coconut races in which I was not very delighted to get hit in the shins with coconuts and brooms.

The only place Ive seen hula hooping is outside Trails End while you wait. They have hula hoops on the porch if you want to use one.

Ive been to Ohana many times, but the latest was 2015. Unless something changed in a year and a half, there is no hula hooping there. Limbo, coconut races and a little hula lesson is all.

Looks like auto correct failure! Its only "Hula", no hoops!

Oh dear! That does sound unpleasant!

Well, darn! I don't think I'll have a chance to dine at Trails End. I guess I'll just have to cross my fingers that I will find another location to shamelessly show off my skills. I did find some hoops at DHS when we were there in 2014, near Lights Motor Action. I don't know if they still have any hoops around DHS anymore. Anyway, I will somehow manage to enjoy my Disney vacay with or without hula hoops! :thumbsup2

No hula hoops, just hula. Hoops would be an absolute nightmare of epic proportions and I can't even wrap my brain around the horror.

Ha, ha! Well, as I mentioned, I did find, using a Google image search, an image that appeared to be someone hula hooping at Ohana. I just clicked on the whole page (http://webpages.marshall.edu/~spriggs8/) and now I see that this dates back to 2002! So, perhaps management also agreed this was a nightmare of epic proportions. :rotfl2:

Oh wow, this site is like a time capsule of the early 00s in terms of web design. What a relic!
