HEA is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. and we want to watch from inside the park. I'm thinking that's cutting it a little close, especially when there's a good chance we will not be seated at 7:05 p.m. Any suggestions on what time I should shoot for (gonna keep looking)?

I dont think so.. but you would be able to watch the fireworks from the beach at the poly!!!
That's our plan after our Ohana dinner!! Otherwise I'd shoot more towards 6... say if it runs late and you get seated closer to 630.. give an hour or so to eat.. so say 730-8ish.. then give at least 30 min to get back to the park.. 830.. and find a decent spot before 9pm... so I'd look for a 6pm ADR the LATEST.. since it will give you enough cushion to get there on time... and like I said.. there is always the beach if not!!

I agree with 6 pm at the latest. The last time we ate at O'hana in December, it was 90 minutes from being seated (and we were not seated late that evening) to leaving the restaurant. If you give yourself some wiggle room in case there is a wait, plus security and the monorail, you should have plenty of time to find a spot for HEA.

If you decide to do this pay early! Ask for the check early on so you can just go when done.

Ohana is a place to really sit back and enjoy IMO. This is despite the complaints here of guests feeling rushed there.

We love watching the kids do the coconut races, and the gentleman singing with his ukulele, etc...

I would hate to feel rushed at Ohana to make HEA.

Likely no. We had a 6:50 reservation showed up a few minutes early and had to wait about 25 minutes to be seated, which sounds like is the norm for wait times there. We were finishing up just as HEA was starting. I wanted to just be able to go sit on the beach to watch so I was bummed to be stuck in the restaurant. This was with them moving rather quickly through the courses too. If you really want to eat at ohana then i would shoot for an earlier time and then you will be back at MK with plenty of time to see HEA. Your other option would be to request a fireworks view table, because not all tables have a view (which is what happened to us) and just watch it from the restaurant. If it is your first time seeing it then watching it in the park is a must because of all the projections.

The only problem with requesting a fireworks view is that there are no where near enough to gaurantee that wish would be granted.

OP- I think you need to make a choice and run with it. If you keep 'Ohana as it stands you may be able to see the display from the beach. Or you may not. It depends on how the restaurnt is running that night, and frankly, with 'Ohana that is difficult to predict. You may be gifted a fireworks view table. Or not. This restaurant is huge, so it is not possibel to see outside from all tables.

Others have basically said this, but you don't want to be so set on getting to both that you don't enjoy either events. I used to do this, too much. I am the planner and to try to fit in the most...I booked things too tightly. I feel the stress of getting to the next attraction instead of relaxing and enjoying the current one.
If you rush through the meal, you won't enjoy it. if you feel stressed to get to MK in time, you won't get a good spot anyway and then you'll wish you had shown up earlier. If you can't get the ADR for 6ish, head out to the Poly beach and enjoy from there. you'll be back another time to watch from up close.

I agree to try to find an earlier time. On our past trip our ADR was for 7 pm because my plan was to watch the fireworks from the Poly beach after dinner. We actually got seated at 7:25 and were just finishing dessert at 9 when the fireworks started. It worked out because we got a window table, even though we didn't request it.
We've eaten at Ohana many times and if we do a dinner I pick an ADR for around 8 to watch from the restaurant. I was purposely picking the 7 pm because we had a newbie with us and I wanted him to see the fireworks from the beach. We got lucky with the window seat and he was impressed.

I will add that HEA is not very good from outside the park. You'll see the pyro, but no projections.
