Oh, The Places We’ll Go! From the “stars” to the “sea”: Universal, SeaWorld & beyond - Spring 2016

Fun!

I must tell you I always enjoy your trip reports, but I am especially enjoying reading yours this week and seeing you guys all happy and having a great time in Orlando. It's nice to see the happy side after all of the sad news out of there this week.

So as always, thanks for sharing your trips with us :grouphug:

What a lovely surprise on check in "Happy Anniversary".

In December Aquatica isn't too busy (go figure) as the locals won't go due to the cooler weather. I'm not sure I could justify the cost of a cabana, although the space must be nice. It really was a brilliant holiday you were all enjoying :cheer2:

I seriously don't know why someone hasn't opened a whole series of Tim Hortons stores in Florida.....Orlando, Tampa, Fort Meyers, Miami, Jacksonville, Sarasota. I would think, with the number of northern visitors, that they would be an instant success! (As long as they use bottled water to brew it.....Timmie's coffee made with Florida water is blech :crazy2:)

.
I was told that the US store are all corporate. No idea if that's true or not. If they are not corporate, the most possible reason is the $1Mil + price tag to purchase a franchise. That's what it costs here anyway.

Olive Garden over East Side Marios

Oh totally. That's another place I always hit up in the US....I could drink that salad dressing.

there had to be at least 40% decked out in Blue Jays jerseys and t-shirts.

I was wondering about that - ie: how many Jays fans would be there, especially at that time of year...but I guess us Canadians like FL year round!

It was literally us, the waist-high barrier, and then the players.

That is really incredible!

it was odd to see soooooo many empty seats.

Really strange....can't imagine that at the dome.

Loving your descriptions of Aquatica...have never been there - hoping now that my kids are a bit bigger (13 and 10) that we can check it out sometime.

Aww, I'm sorry the Jays lost. Eventually I want to go to a game (especially if the Mets are playing).

And happy anniversary!

A) I think it's cool you guys got to see dolphins in "the wild"; but personally (and I'm sure I'll get flamed here) I'm not a fan of the tour boats; they tend to get way too close and completely disregard the law of staying at least 150 feet (or 50 meters) away from them; to keep them safe and to not get hit (even if accidently) by said boats (or any other boats). Just not my cup of tea.....

B) I am pretty sure my family has stayed at that residence inn several times; it's on Palm Parkway/Turkey Lake Road, right? It's a nice place, I think they've stayed there on 3 different occasions....

C) 23 Years, CONGRATS! I can only dream of one day being married for that long....if only Mr Right would kindly show his face; that'd be helpful....

Aw, thank you :goodvibes. You have no idea how much joy these trip reports bring to my heart. Sharing my memories, some fun conversation with friends.....my gratitude is to each of you for coming back to keep me company after each vacation. So, a big thanks to all of YOU for caring enough to keep tuning in. It means a ton .

We were there on Christmas Eve day 2014, and we could have shot a cannon through the park and not hit a soul! It was like we had a private rental of the water park. It was a little busier than that when we visited on December 22nd this past year, but it was also HOT....so while the locals might not have been there, I think lots of vacationers were.

We really, really enjoy the cabana rentals.....they are a worthwhile splurge. We have one rented for each of our October days, and only have paid a whopping $44.10 plus tax per cabana. At that price, its crazy not to reserve one. Towel rentals, bottled water and a locker rental is pretty much the same price.....so its like getting the cabana rental for free :).

Well then, we just need to divide and conquer. Split 10 ways, that's only $100,000 a piece. Any volunteers? :flower3: I'm in for our portion.

That guy looks like he just got a beat down.

It was a strange little interlude. I'm still a bit perplexed by it.

Oh, we highly recommend Aquatica. We've also been to Typhoon Lagoon (multiple times) and Blizzard Beach, and Aquatica is our favourite of the three. Definitely give it a try if you can squeeze it into a future itinerary ::yes::.

Aww, I'm sorry the Jays lost. Eventually I want to go to a game (especially if the Mets are playing).

No worries on the game.....we had fun regardless. And at least it was close.....the Jays have had a few terrible blow outs this year :scared:.

And thank you for the anniversary wishes :goodvibes . I couldn't have found a better way to spend it than at Aquatica!

The waterpark looks fun! We skipped going to one this last trip.

Something to look forward to for next trip? (speaking of which....are you planning something again soon?)

Oh, if only you were a little younger or Jake was a little older and then I could play Cupid. Hang in there kiddo, your Prince Charming is out there and just waiting for the right moment to make his debut.

The RI that we stayed at is on Westwood....I'm not 100% sure if that's the one you are thinking of, or not. There's so many of them (the RI's, I mean), but for good reason....we always find them a pretty nifty value.

I certainly appreciation your perspective on the dolphin sailing. No flaming from me....you know I value your point of view where animals are concerned :goodvibes. It definitely seemed as if our captain respected the safety of the animals and kept a safe distance (while the dolphins came close at times, we definitely made good use of the zoom feature on our cameras too). It would break my heart to find out otherwise.

I just can't get past the grammatical error on the bottom sign... Come on, Aquatica!!!! o_O

Sigh.....the ill-placed apostrophe is a huge annoyance for me, too :sad2:.

Hi - talking about favourite Canadian Restaurants we usually have to have Swiss Chalet after we have returned to Canada from overseas or USA.

Swiss Chalet is a Canadian gem. Of course, you either love or hate their signature "Chalet Sauce" (Steve despises it, Jake and I could drink it) so that's always a good topic for a debate. Almost as good as Who has the better hockey team: Toronto, Ottawa or Montreal?

Happy Anniversary!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine and DH is May 3rd, and we will be celebrating 20 years in '17
Spring is such a lovely time of the year for weddings:lovestruc:lovestruc

The Palm Parkway hotel is Residence Inn Lake Buena Vista. They have Mickey Waffles and are very convenient to Disney Springs. I think they also offer shuttles to EPCOT.

The Residence Inn Sea World is a different location on the other side of I-4 that offers Quick Queue and shuttles for Sea World.

We have experienced great service at both :)

Oh how I miss Swiss Chalet!! We used to have a couple in Buffalo. Now we just have to settle with my dad bringing home some sauce packets to make it at home when he has work trips to Vancouver or Toronto lol

Thank you! Happy belated anniversary to you guys as well! I hope you have something special planned for your 20th celebration.....maybe a trip to Orlando? :flower3:

Ah yes, I know exactly the where the other one is with your description :thumbsup2. Not at all far from SVR!

I hope you're referring to the tight ones not the baggy ones. Hate the baggy ones. The baggy ones just leave everything to the imagination.

Hmmmm....some of those older player's bodies have, um, passed their prime, shall we say? Perhaps baggy can be better in certain circumstances .

I had no idea that there were any Swiss Chalets outside of Canada. Did they close them, then? I wonder why?

Yeah we had one not too far from our side of Niagara Falls and another one down in the Southern Tier near Ralph Wilson Stadium. Our proximity to Canada may have had a hand in why we were lucky enough to get one in the first place lol I have no idea why they closed but I sure was bummed about it!

Slow down! You are getting dangerously close to the end of your TR! Though I did enjoy reading some back to back updates again! I have been trying to get Will to a Cracker Barrel for years, but he is stubborn and for some reason does not want to go. He promises though that when we drive to Dollywood in July, that we can stop there for a meal. Wohooo!

I would be so bored at the Baseball game, but it was the highlight for your boys!! What a great upgrade at the Residence Inn! And what a lucky break, you probably got the last Cabana of the day!

You too are so cute on your wedding day. 19 years old! Wow!

So many great updates! Your trip reports are the BEST! :thumbsup2

We love Sweet Tomatoes! I may have to see if the family wants to try their breakfast out.

I'm sorry to hear about the drive down to St. Pete. I like to get where I'm going early too! I'm so glad you guys made it on time for the boat. ::yes::

Loved the dolphin cruise and so happy that you got to see so many! :sail:

Sorry that the Jays didn't win, but what amazing seats!

Love your wedding pictures! Happy belated Anniversary to you and Steve! :bride: :groom:

Yay for the upgrade at the hotel!

We went to Aquatica for the first time last year. We loved it! We plan to go again this year before our APs expire.

Looking forward to the rest of your trip report! :thumbsup2 Will you be doing a pre-trip report for your October trip?
