Oh no. Think I have a FP problem. :(

So we had to reschedule our trip from October to January after my husband got into an accident and needed surgery. First trip was only 5 days in the park, we rescheduled for 6 days. I had purchased the kids' tickets for the first trip prior to the accident (i.e...I have 5 day park hoppers for them). I then purchased tickets for my husband and I after (we have 6 day park hoppers). I want to upgrade the kids to 6 days as well, but Disney told me that it needed to be done in the park and that they couldn't change them over the phone as they are physically in my hand and already linked to our MDE due to the fact I had things booked for the first trip. I originally thought that was fine and I planned on upgrading the tickets the first day we are there but now I am realizing that when my 60 day booking window for FP+ opens, that I will not be able to book Fps for the kids, correct? We are at a Disney hotel for the 6 nights, but without the tickets and with the inability to upgrade them prior to getting to the park, I am stuck, is that right?!!!

Ugh, is there an option around this.... other than buying an extra 1 day ticket x4, which would be a huge expense? (Esp. considering 2 of my kids are "Disney adults".)

I haven't tried FP yet, but this sounds like it is going to really screw things up as far as my plans go. :(

Help! Thanks.

If your kids' tickets are indeed linked to your MDE account, you can book 5 days worth of FPs for them. When you arrive at WDW, you can add on the additional day and book FPs for the 6th day.

Go to the FP area of your MDE and you can practice booking FPs. Be sure to cancel after you have finished your practice session.

Link your kids tickets and then you will be able to book for 5 days of the trip. Use those 5 for your top days and get everything that is a must do. When you arrive get the tickets upgraded. It should not affect those other fps as it will just add a day to your 5 days already purchased.

Also just try calling again. Honestly they should be able to do it before.

So that is what I was worried about.

So should I book FP for my husband and I on the 6th day? Or not even bother because the likelihood I would be able to add the 4 kids around the same time as our FP is probably really low just 5 days before right?

If you leave your AK day as your open day for the kids, you should be okay getting times to match or overlap the adult FPs when you book the FPs after you've upgraded.

Don't leave Epcot or DHS as the open day for the kids.

Ok. I tried calling again and they won't upgrade them. I guess I just won't book FP for AK until we get there on that first day. It is probably the easiest FP to get, right? And we are not going until our last day to that park, so maybe I will just wait and hope we get something 5 days out. If not we will just have to do stand by. Thanks for your help.

Agree with Hiro, book yourselfs and leave the open day as one of your AK days. That seems to be the easiest park to still get things. Also if it is hard to get FPs for them then just start looking as each child as an individual instead of 4 at a time and try to get overlapping with you and your hubby that way.

I would not take my chances with DHS, Epcot, or MK.

There is much availability at AK, even the day of. I'd go ahead and book you and your husband's FP+s and copy to the kids once you upgrade the tickets.

You shouldn't have any problem at all as long as all your tickets are linked. We did a similar thing on our last trip, we had 8-day tickets but then decided to do 9 days in the parks. We couldn't upgrade our tickets over the phone because they were purchased separately. We booked 8 days of FP+ and left the last day open. We upgraded at a ticket booth once we got to WDW, then booked FP for our 9th day on MDE app (we had no problem with FP for Epcot, but this was weekday with low crowds). Agree with others that AK would be the easiest with most availability, and if your AK day is at the end of your trip, even better. And you're going in January? That's not a busy month.

Vote for AK as well. I would go ahead and get the FP for you and husband since that will be 2 fewer you will have to get. Chances are you will find overlapping times. If not, you can change your times to match your kids.
