Its mostly yellow with dandelions and weeds.

Now what do yous use for the perfect lawn? After living here 16 years, we have never had a good crop of nice GREEN grass. HELP:confused3

popcorn::
Waiting to see where this one goes, as our "lawn" is composed of thistle and dandelions.

DH fertilizes it in the spring and then waters it throughout the summer. The grass over takes the weeds usually. However, he has to cut the lawn at least twice a week.

Mine is the same and my neighbours with the "perfect lawns" claim fetilize and over seeding....I'm going to try, I have no choice.:confused:

yup - I just spent two hours pulling out dandilions and thistles - Im still not done!
Just bought a Scotts fertilizer that supposidly prevents weeds but it doesnt inhibit the already groing ones. My mother bought this fantastic tool, looks like the claw, but it pulls the weeds right from the root....I just have so many and a fairly large amount to cover :(

Is it to late to seed?

My back lawn is small and has a large maple tree so nothing grows underneath. My backyard looks like a camp ground and I love it! I have loads of herbs growing in pots and tomatoes in summer in pots. I'm one of those people who let nature be nature and grow in Her own beauty.

My front lawn is green with dog pee spots of yellow. What can I say....I love my dog and Mother Nature! heeheehee. :hippie:

Blessings, Sandra

We've tried the fertilizer route but always managed to burn the grass. We aerate in the fall and over seed like crazy! It seems to work for us.

grew my lawn from a dirt lot from seed. Started in 2005, and now have one of the better lawns on the cul-de-sac.

A neighbor who is a builder gave me alot of tips. Over seed, and in the beginning use starter fertilizer. After that use regular weed and feed in the spring, and make sure to fertilize in the winter before the snow comes.

THis spring my lawn has no weeds, and is already dark green. It takes alot of effort, and istn cheap, my lot is 46,000 square feet(almost an acre). Also dont scalp your grass when you mow it, try to keep the mower on one of its higher settings. I keep the deck on my John Deere tractor at its highest setting so I dont burn out the grass by cutting it too short.

hope these tips help.
