We just booked this Trip. Our AnnualPasses expire on Thanksgiving Day,
& the Candlelight Processional starts the very next day!
It's in the $120s for the Peak Day Epcot ticket.
Would buying a 2-Day ticket, and hitting up a Park the day before we leave,
be a better deal than
purchasing MVMCP tickets for that second day, instead,
WITH the price of tickets for that Party coming in @ just under $100?!?!
We have never attended the MVMCP, & I thought it might be a great finale to our Thanksgiving time trip coming up
in 100 days.

My math shows it would be cheaper to by a 2 day park ticket than a one day ticket and a party ticket. A two day park ticket will cost you $215.13. A one day ticket during that time of year plus a MVMCP ticket will cost $219.39.

For what it's worth, with the price difference not being all that much, I'd likely stick with the party and the one day ticket... especially if I will have gone to Magic Kingdom during that trip already. I really enjoy the Christmas party, though.

Not to be negative but I wouldn't do either... maybe the Christmas Party if you have never done it? We did both the MVMCP last year and the Candle Light Processional (we have never done either) and we not impressed with either one. That being said it was a great trip, no complaints the money just could have been spent on something else. Side note we loved the MNSSHP and Disney in general. Side, side note Chandra Wilson was the speaker and that could have something to do with our experience because no one in our group knew who she was? I would put that money toward more annual passes or another future trip.

As far as going to Epcot the day after Thanksgiving, you will not only get the CP, you will also get all the Holiday Storytellers in the countries and you will get (if they are doing it this year) the extra Holiday Ending to IllumiNations. I'm sure the park will be crowded on this day but we love all the extra things they do for the holiday.

We definitely plan on spending that entire Friday @ Epcot. And we enjoy the Holiday Storytellers.
Last trip we missed all of the Storytellers
I need to find a schedule of the Storytellers, as I have heard that it is near impossible to see all of them in one day.

And we also have never seen the Illuminations during this time period.
Hubby really wants to see/hear the Holiday Ending.

In 2012, we had the reserved viewing with our Candlelight Processional Pkg.
it was our 2nd to last night of a 15-night trip. I was worn down, & got tired waiting for the Illuminations.
So we left before it started, avoiding the crowds to exit.

In 2015, the CP Pkg. did not include the special reserved area.
So i Fast Passed it. But we still left before then.

Even if we can't FP it on the 25th, we are def viewing Illuminations.
It is our last day with a ticket, and we intend to stay until close

why not renew your annual pass? If you have an annual pass I would assume you would get your value out of it

We weren't blown away by CP either, I probably wouldn't do it again. Christmas Party...would with small children traveling with us, otherwise pass. The Halloween party was much better, and I'm not a big Halloween person.

We have considered renewing our DVC-discounted APs. it would be something like $499 ea. @ current prices.
Last year they increased AP prices in October, though
Compared to the $121 for 1-day Epcot, it seems like a really good deal.
And we would be able to Park Hop on the 26th & 27th, instead of having to find things outside of the Parks.

But I counted the maximum Days we would get out of a Nov. 2016 renewal,
as we won.t be returning until Nov./Dec. 2017,
versus waiting to buy a new AP for the late 2017 trip.
Of course, a new AP in Sept. 2017 will probably be in the $600s

As I also have 2018's trip planned,
the DVC-discounted ( we can only hope they will continue a discount!!) AP
that we purchase in Sept. 2017, before our 60-day FP window,

will be used for 15-16 days for the 2017 trip,
and then again for 15-16 days for the 2018 trip( earlier in Nov.).

IF we renewed our APs on this upcoming trip, the most Park Days we'd get for this 2016 trip would be 3.
And for our 2017 trip, we would only get 2 Park Days,
and would have to Renew again on the 2017 trip

We are not the biggest Halloween fans but loved the Halloween Party also...

For those of you who loved the halloween party, but weren't impressed with the christmas party - what specifically is better about the halloween event? (I've never been to the halloween party, but attended the christmas one twice, most recently last year.) I liked MVMCP, but when they jacked tickets up to $100 this year, it was a deal breaker for me.

We keep hearing that the Halloween Party is preferred over the MVMCP these days,
by many.
And " ouch !! " our Xmas Party tix ( our first time) were $98 before the AP discount was applied.
OUCH!!

Would love to hear the great things about the Halloween Party :)
The Fireworks looked super cool(You Tube ).

No suggestions on your ticket dilemma, but try to fit in the Voices of Liberty show while seeing the holiday story tellers. Their holiday show is beautiful and very different than what you'll see at CP, even though many of the main CP singers are also Voices of Liberty. We love CP and wish we could see it this year (maybe when DS 4 is older). Enjoy.

My favourite things about MNSSHP:
  1. The Parade. Absolutely incredible. The Gravediggers are wonderful;
  2. The Party overlay at Haunted Mansion. Madame Carlotta on the front lawn. The fog & lights. Haunted Mansion CMs are even creepier & more inspired than usual; and
  3. Hocus Pocus Stage Show w the Sanderson Sisters was very good.
I'm not into Character meet & greets (others love them) so these were my top 3 must-dos.
Shorter lines for headliner attractions is also a plus. Although the Jungle Cruise doesn't cruise during the party.

I understand not being blown away by the Candlelight Processional.
We enjoy the Orchestra & music( a rare treat for us).
The Celebrity Narrator makes a huge difference.

When we booked Neil Patrick Harris in 2012' I didn't.t know who he was!!
Afterwards, wow!!
Could def see why he is very super popular. Like wow!!

Last year, we had that Gary Sinise for the Friday after Thanksgiving.
I couldn't pronounce his name, but I did recognize his face.
The Narrators are allowed to bring up an issue dear to the heart.
We learned Gary does a lot for Vets.
@ the very end, he asked for all the Vets to stand,
& Hubby & dozens others got a standing O.

The CP Processional just feels " Christmasy " to us.
But if the Osborne Dancing Spectacle of Lights were still there,
we could do that on any of our nights,
and get our Christmas " fix ".

Also, we really enjoy the MSEP,
and with that leaving in early Oct.,
now I am really glad we'lol get to enjoy the MCMVP.

We booked the Wishes Dessert Party on the Party night,
so no shoulder-to-shoulder.

And we will enjoy the 2nd Parade, as that is wayyyyy less popular.
Just really wanted to score a BOG early dinner...

Thanks for the great idea, @glassslippergirl !

The Christmas party is ok. We did it last year for the first time and were underwhelmed. It didn't seem as decorated and Christmas-y as we expected. The Halloween party though, super fun. So much theming. CM's are really into it (esp the Haunted Mansion). Trick or treating is fun.

CP is eh for us too.

I think there is a DVC Merry Mixer that Friday. You can pick up an ornament and that is worth something. | love ours and it is a memory every year when I put up the tree.

Guess what @ Belle & Ariel ?,
my personal DVC CM told me that the only Merry Mixer in Nov. is on the 25th :)

Last year, we were @ the World when @ least 2 of them were taking place, but we never attended :(
The DVC website still does not have the Merry Mixer info up, and MS does not know the hours,
but wasn't it like 4-7 last year?
I heard about the ornament gift last year! MS has no info, as of yet,
but here's hoping.

We preferred the Halloween Party because of the parade, character interactions and the candy was nice. DD dressed up and got way to much candy... (adults just grabbed candy here or there). We didn't ride many rides at either party and crowds were not terrible. The Christmas Party had snicker doodle cookies and hot cocoa, neither one appealed to me.
