Check out the article today in USA Today -" Disney World on the Cheap " Our secret is out!!! I am just kidding of course - but I do always worry when there are big write-ups about wonderful things like FW....that all of a sudden it is going to be mobbed and you won't be able to get a reservation.... I know that is a bit irrational but still! And since I am actually a FW "newbie" I guess I shouldn't talk ...I know that so many of you have been going for years and years!!!

Anyway, check out the article. Happy Friday all! :surfweb:

NOOOOOOOOOOOO, now it's going to be even harder to get reservations!!! lol

But honestly, hopefully most people that RV and go to Disney already know about Fort Wilderness, cause if not, I don't want to know what else they're missing out on...lol.

And hey, Fort Wilderness isn't exactly cheap anymore (although compared to some resorts I guess...heh)!!. Thanks for the heads up on the article, always love reading about Disney from an outside perspective :)

I agree, those that already RV and camp know about FW. I doubt that non-campers will suddenly become campers just to save a few $$$. I see so many people who come to FW for the Hoop de do getting off the boat saying things like "I'd never camp," "I don't want to use a comfort station", etc. etc. There's still a stigma to camping for some people and no matter how much they want to save $$$, they aren't going to take it up.

Once at the Japanese restaurant in Epcot (where you are seated with strangers) the talk turned to where everyone was staying. We said FW and the guy across from us, I kid you not, said "Well, I guess that's OK if you can't afford anything else." I'm like, what? Have you seen the money floating around that place? Motorhomes that cost more than my house? Some tent set ups that I'm pretty sure are in the thousands of dollars? Hello? It's not about the money. I told him that we were there for two weeks because we could stay in our MH for that long for the cost of a few days at a resort. I asked him how long he was staying (and where) and he said four days at the YC. I said "Well, I guess that's OK if it's all you can afford." He shut up.

Point being, there are some who will never camp, even if it makes perfect economic sense.

too bad he didn't say that to the Provost guy.

Man, by the time I get to that restaurant I've already had some margaritas in Mexico and a few beers in Germany. Guy is lucky I didn't sit down at his table....lol.
