It feels as though we have been here for a long time already. My kids (Katie, Zachary, Christian) officially turn 2 today. Time really does go so fast. We took them to the Rainforest Cafe yesterday and they loved it. So my birthday wish is that the terrible twos dont last for a whole year!

My older son didn't have the terrible twos. He was an angel for that whole year, but (sorry to tell you this) when he turned 3 all he** broke loose! It was a trying year. Maybe you have one more year until it hits the fan with your three! Good luck!!

Apologies to the OP, but I totally agree! My DD was an angel until after her 3rd birthday....

And I taught/subbed in preschools and daycares for 7 years....I tried to avoid the 3's room at all costs! It seemed to be the worst room (behavior-wise) at every center I worked at! I always preferred infants or 4/5's anyday, but would always take the toddlers or 2's over the 3's any day!!

I think it's because they're a little more capable of doing things to get into trouble, and the language skills are really developing (in good and bad ways :) ) but they still don't have any self-control or reasoning yet....they don't think before they do...and a 3 year old is capable of lots more trouble than a 2 year old!

On the flip side, though, some of those advances allow some of the sweetest things. My DD recently told me "You're so beautiful, mommy!" and has started trying to "help" her little brother do stuff instead of ignore him....so they can be unbelievably sweet at the same time!
All I can say is GOOD LUCK!! Pixie Dust your way!!

My youngest DS waited until he was 3 to experience the Terrible 2's. He just turned 4 and he's still in them!

Rest assured it will pass - eventually. My older 2 got through them in one piece so it can be done. :D

We were lucky in that my granddaughter never really went through the "terrible" anythings.. She's 5 now..

However, I have warned my DD & her DH that should they ever have another child they better brace themselves.. They're probably in for one heck of a ride! LOL :teeth:

You guys make me feel so much better!
After some conversations here the other night, I was left to believe that I was the only one in the world to have had a little one that suffered occasional bouts of terrible 2's and 3's! (don't they ALL?) :teeth:

Oddly, it was my daughter that had them. Grand daughter didn't experience too much of that, but GDaughter was always much more able to express herself to us.

I hope your wish is granted huey duey and luey! (but it does sound like you're having fun!!)

Hmmmm... My dd is 9 and I think she's STILL going through the terrible 2s!!!!!! :earseek:

I agree. Only 1 of mine went through any sort of terrible 2's. 3 yr old, until just shy of the 4th birthday, were the hardest months with all 3 of my kids. My kids all mellowed out considerably when they turned 4.

Good luck. BTW, my DH is a triplet.

OOPS.......forgot to say: Happy 2nd Birthday, Katie, Zachary, and Christian!!!!!!!

I was just going to say that my DS hit the terrible two's just a tad BEFORE his second b-day & he's still in it!! He's 8.5 years old now!

Oh boy... can I relate to the terrible threes! Literally, the day after his 3rd birthday, he became a different child - whining, tamptrums, freshness (I just posted last week about his newfound love of "shut up" ). Two was a breeze - just the calm before the storm :p ! Enjoy it though - I'm sure once my boys are older, I'll actually miss this phase :p !

Happy birthday to your little munchkins!

uh-oh, hd&l, it gets tougher before it gets easier. My niece & nephews (triplets) are 6 now and what fun they are! The 3 distinct personalities are amazing! There were some rough patches (would they ever get potty-trained?) but my DB even admits that they are a lot easier to deal with now (they still don't keep their rooms neat - ugh!) All I can say is: hang in there!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. They heard happy birthday so much they keep singing it!.
Tara

they are 7 and I am plum tuckered out......okey.....not terrible twos....but the two boys sure can be a handful.......

With triplets you worry about the 2s?...I would worry about the 3's, 4s's, 5's, 6's, 7's...etc....Wow, kudos to you...TRIPLETS?... you are the woman!!!!:teeth:

In all seriousness, if you have made it through the first 2 years of raising triplets, you will be fine...you have all of the experience in chaos that is needed....

hate to say it.....but for both of my kids....the "twos" weren't that bad. HOWEVER, the "threes" in my house were the 'terrible three's". ANd I don't even want to tell you what we called the "fours!!!!"
