OH MY GOSH! Husband and Father just surprised me --------------

I can't believe I'm typing this - I can't believe it! I am shaking right now! My husband just called me from work, and my mother and father just walked in the door and told me that we are officially DVC MEMBERS!

I don't know if you remember the person I told you about from Florida that was selling some points - well they jointly kept in communication and my father began the paperwork before we left and then he and my husband FIBBED and said they were going golfing while me and my mom and the boys went shopping and guess what - yOU GOT IT! A secret meeting with this couple in Florida to finalize everything!

I AM SPEECHLESS!!! Here all this time we talked, and talked and finally jointly all decided it wasn't for us - it was ALL just a big game! They REALLY got me this time! They were afraid to tell me because of the low point price and they were afraid of Disney's ROFR, but this particular family didn't "think" we'd have a problem and thank God she was right! My parents just got a bunch of stuff today!

We have purhcased, well we "jointly" purchased 350 pts., for none other - OKW!!!! We will split the dues each year and share the points! Well, my parents don't want to visit Disney that often, but I know they'll use the other places I'm sure.

I CANT BELIEVE THIS!! I'm a little mixed though, like I've said (and I thought my family agreed) - I don't l ike the high weekend points thing, but I guess it will all work out somehow! I really am in shock! I want to plan our next trip like RIGHT NOW!!! I don't even know any of the "banking" issues yet ... I have to get back on the phone with the hubby!!! I just began a process of renting some quick points with someone from the rent/trade board and now I have to cancel ... I wonder why my hubby didn't crack!!!!!

OMG I"M SO HAPPY !!!!!!!!!!!

How did you find the resale, was it through the Timeshare Store? The reason I am asking is I JUST got off the phone with a salesman Jerry at the timeshare store and he was telling me that Disney will not let any resales go through for less than $62.00 a point unless it is a bankrupt situation or the owner has died. This does not sound like what I have read on the boards so I was wondering if you could share some insight with me regarding getting a DVC resale. I already have a DVC membership and am currently waiting to get add on papers for an add on at BCV through Disney but if I could get a resale for a lower price I will just cancel the add on through Disney. Thanks and again Welcome Home! Now you can get all the overgrown trees and wild bushes cut down at OKW and no one can say you are not a member and that you do not have a vested interest! LOL!

What a terrific surprise for you! It sounds like the family really does enjoy their Disney trips.

I wouldn't let the high weekend points discourage you. Consider the "total" points your trip takes and then divide by the days. It isn't that dramatic a change. The problem with lowering the weekend points is that it would encourage people who can reach WDW easily to spend lots of long weekends. This would make it very difficult for those who waited to stay a whole week or more to be able to book their vacation in one spot.

Thanks for all the welcome home's everyone! HOW EXCITING!!!!

We didn't buy through a broker, this was a personal selling situation. I had placed an ad long ago on the TUG's boards, and was contacted through 2 different people via emails who had listings that were on the internet, I can't remember where, but they were both non-broker assisted ads.

We got very lucky, our price was indeed much much lower that you could imagine. This particular lady knew people at DVC (she lives in Florida) and she said they didn't think Disney would buy back. Thank you LORD !!!

They've always been happy with DVC, it's just now that they are relocating and can't use all their points to the most efficient way they would like so they sold half of them. Yes they have (had) 700 points!!!!!!!!

Planning already for another trip! You know though, seriously, I would really like to try WVL !! I love OKW - but I want to try it over at the WVL to get that "lodge" feel! I'll keep you all posted!!!
