Just got back from a 4-day jaunt to WDW for our anniversary. I'd read such good reviews of Jiko that we made ADR's for our anniversary night dinner. OH MY GOODNESS....it was pure love and I'm not talking about love for my DH!! :rotfl: We had a late reservation--9PM--and it was pretty empty by then. Loved the dark, warm atmosphere and the African music. Our server was Nasser, and he was quite knowledgeable about the extensive wine list. He recommended the perfect wines to accompany our dinner choices--we tried the Kenyan Coffee Barbecued Chicken flatbread (yum!), and then DH had the pork tenderloin and I had the scallops (with the spicy tomato-onion chaka-laka...I just like to say chaka-laka...although it's not as fun writing it). The meal was perfectly timed--we were neither rushed nor did we fall asleep between courses. Unfortunately, we didn't save room for dessert, but it's safe to say we'll be going back, so maybe next time I'll have room for the apple spring roll. Or maybe the bosc pears.... ;)

Add me to those who recommend Jiko!

I know what you mean - Jiko is on our "must do" list every time. My DH had the pork last time and I loved the bite I stole. I had the beef filet, which was good, but the time before I had the beef short ribs and LOVED those. We also tried the pork and duck firecrakers this time and thought they were awesome

We too loved it. We were just there on Wednesday night. For starters we had the BBQ Chicken Flatbread, which was good, but a little heavy on the BBQ sauce. I think you could ask them to go easy on it..if this is something that you wouldn't like (like me). DH had the duck and pork Firecracker spring rolls. They were very good. We don't care for duck, but these were good.

For dinner we both had the filet with the mac and cheese, didn't care for this too much. Found the mac and cheese to be a bit bland really. Filet was very good though. Wiine sauce was good, but too much mixed in with the mac and cheese.

Desserts were the Pistachio Creme Brulee with layered chocolate bottom and OMG, was it good!!!!!! I actually don't care for Creme Brulee, but the Pistachio got me and WOW!!

DH had the flourless chocolate cake, with peanut butter ice cream and it was a bit rich, but good.

....and don't forget the great selection fo South African wines

DH and I will be going to Jiko for the first time in April and I'm looking forward to it even more after reading this..! :goodvibes
