Are you sure about this? I just saw Jenny McCarthy and Holly Robinson Peete on Larry King yesterday talking about Autism. I didn't watch the whole show, but what I saw they were talking about awareness and getting help for their kids. I didn't see anything about being "cured".

Oh, I'm gonna vommit.

So I turn on the ol' computer this morning and what is one of the top articles on my homepage?

"Jenny McCarthy writes of how her son was cured of autism in her new book"

How stupid do they all think we are???????????????????

It is absolutely SHAMELESS that they are preying on the hopes of desparate parents everywhere that for the love of a child will be willing to latch on to any kind of hope. That and JLo's "pregnancy". They know how to go after the most desparate people don't they? "If you are a Scientologist, we can cure you of infertility AND cure autism." These people are all getting scholarships to hell.

It is also shameless that the media is so stupid that they son't see this as the cult recruiting tactic that it is and they actually publish the crap.

Yeah, I'm going to borrow the book from the library. I sure as heck am not spending money on it. It boils my blood that someone can espouse "diet can cure autism" and people think it's that simple. If it were that simple, my son would be cured.

What frustrates me here is that Jenny McCarthy HID her son's diagnosis until he was 'cured' of autism.

Ok, so from what I gather form my googling......... I have no proof of this , but what it looks like to me, is that Scientology has set up one of their "alleged little organizatons" a front that has an official looking name
It is DAN or "Defeat Autism Now" and it was "founded" by the "Autism Research Institute. " The website has a bunch of quack looking "doctors" on it. And I'd bet the farm that if if someone did some digging into who funds this "organization" that they would find it was Scientology. Also in some article, JM calls Jim Carrey the "autism whisperer" (insert puke smiley here) I think they realized how much "credibility" they were losing by having Travolta just pretend his son didn't have autism, so they took JM's kid and decided they would look better if they could just cure it.

FWIW - I have worked with alot of autistic kids and the child looks kinda aspergers to me. (maybe more severe asbergers or slight autism) He was probaby slight enough that any normal autism intervention would get him to where he is now. And she is saying he is "cured" Oh, and then at the end of the article she says, "well, some kids don't respond as well as my kid did, and it doesn't work on everyone,,,blah blah blah, disclaimer disclaimer."

As far as her calling it a cure, here is the article:

Autism recovery

Can it really happen? Yes, says actress Jenny McCarthy, who writes about her son's successful recovery in "Louder Than Words." Since her book's been out, search numbers for "autism" have spiked ever higher. McCarthy and her "autism whisperer" draw lots of interest, too.

Still, the number of searches for "autism recovery" runs far behind those for more basic information.

OH, and by the way, OPRAH IS alledgedly THE BIGGEST FREAKING SCIENTOLOGIST IS THE WORLD!!!!!! Yes, that's right Tommy boy.....she is bigger than you! They sucked her in with her idol worship of Hollywood stars, and they have her operating in a stealth manner, I don't even know if she knows she is a scientologist, but they definately have quite a hold on her. Anyone reputable wouldn't have had JM on the show . She is best buds with the Smiths and TC, the reason she didn't go tothe wedding was because then all the people like us in the world (smart ones) would realize she was definately in. She can do more damage by not admitting she is , and lose less credibility. God help us all.

Im on a roll tonight..........

Here's a lil' nugget of joy I read on a British paper, ofcourse, it sights the Star as it's source, so I wouldn't buy stock in the story, but it is still worth a giggle, since we don't need a respected publication to tell us the the Cruiser is an insane, not so intelligent, narcissistic mad man. all alledgedly of course.

Enjoy my DIS friends......

According to American magazine Star, a source said: "Tom is planning to build a US$10 million bunker under his Telluride estate."

"It's a self-contained underground shelter with a high tech air purifying shelter."

The facility is said to have enough room for ten people - including wife Katie Holmes, 17-month-old daughter Suri and his adopted children Isabella, 14, and Connor, 12.

Keeping the faith: Tom Cruise, in Spain in 2004, is a dedicated follower of Scientology

A spokesperson for the actor has denied the reports, saying: "This is completely untrue. He is not building on his property at all."

The 45-year-old is currently filming World War II movie Rubicon (formerly known as Valkyrie) in Germany, where he is regularly joined on set by Katie and Suri.

Tom plays German hero Colonel Claus Graf Schenk von Stauffenberg in the wartime thriller surrounding a failed plot by high-ranking military officers to blow up Hitler and has come under attack for his decision to do so as well as his religious beliefs.

The controversial film depicts the ill-fated plan to blow up the dictator on July 20, 1944, which he survived, with the plotters subsequently paying with their lives.

Not saying that the hospital would necessarily tell which Nurse was with which patient, but if the tabloids had a name, aren't those numbers public information? Doctor's UPINs (Unique Provider Identifier Number) are public information and can even be found through websites, I would think it's the same with registered nurses.

Kimya

Yes, professional license numbers are public domain. It's how the public can report a complaint against a professional. (which is the main reason for licensing--public safety)

The way I see the Autism Spectrum is you aren't "Healed" only able to deal with the social problems, communicate better, and overall deal with the "symptoms" better. In essence you move out of the spectrum, but without therapy at least in the background you can revert into the spectrum.

I don't think there is a HEALED stamp for this brand of dx or azberger's or ADD or ADHD. True the "symptoms" can get better but that neuro affliction remains. It's not like "poof" you've rewired the brain.

ETA: I looked up DAN as well. There are no mentions under "What is DAN" of what DAN is. It just says if you don't want to use psychotrophic drugs it is a good treatment. However it only explains how drugs to treat autism are bad and how they plan to defeat autism. What I don't understand and correct me if I am wrong as I hold no MD, umm...shouldn't you try to find what is CAUSING all these cases before you can erradicate all of them?

ETA (Sorry): Looks like they think it is heavy metals and exposure which would be why Jenny brought up vaccinations, however there are serious holes in that research if you look outside of the US at other countries and their vaccination schedules as has been mentioned on other boards here by Pediatricians no less. I guess I just don't think the answer is that simple.

Call me cynical, but....

I had to click on the "I lost a baby..." link. I just find it too convenient & hard to believe. Why bring this up now? Publicity?

Ahhh...isn't that what ALL this is about?

(So why isn't Kat(i)e expecting again? It took no tiime the first time.....allegedly of course.)

I clicked on that too. I dunno I remember the rumors swirling around when she and Tom divorced in 2001. That she had a miscarriage, messing around, yadda yadda yadda.

She may be trying to refocus away from the rehab portion of her recent marriage. I like Nicole, don't know why. But, think she is smart and talented. But it also may help explain all of the rumors that happenned during their marriage of Tom being in the closet.

Does Nicole ever get her kids? I figured Tom would be glad to pass them back to her now that he has one of "his own".

OOOOhhh, see, since that site is connected with Scientology, I didn't want to spend one more second there then I needed to , so I didn't read that far. But there you have it............they don't use pychotrophic drugs. Scientology. Shouldn't it be illegal to try and lure people in to something that is a "religion" cough *cult* cough by using promises of medical treatment?

And of course it is not that simple, but this is scientology...they can do anything, cure workers at ground zero, help people at disaster sites, infertility, ADHD (although it is laughable that TC thinks he is "cured" of that) :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Because she is being made by TC to do it. I swear he has her under his control. If she says he got her pregnant, than the whole Suri thing is more believable.

Does Nicole ever get her kids? I figured Tom would be glad to pass them back to her now that he has one of "his own".

No. If she does it is for a publicity photo op so that people will stop whispering "why doesn't Nicole get the kids?". Like I said- under his control. He has an army of brainwashed zombies at his disposal. I feel sorry for her. I think she just has had to let go of that part of her life and get one with what she is allowed to of what is left of her life.

:) Wow, you have ALOT of reading to do this weekend to catch up ;)
FYI - look at the date on the posts.......this thread is over a year old....

It is a great read though if you do start from the beginning!:thumbsup2
But, you might want to grab a bottle of pepto bismol, and some brain bleach.

That was EXACTLY my thought. She wants something, he tells her what she has to do (say to the public) to get it.

Does Nicole ever get her kids? I figured Tom would be glad to pass them back to her now that he has one of "his own".

See, I don't think so. I don't think he wants those 2 recruits, I mean kids, under anyone's supervision that is not a Scientologist. If he allowed Nicole influence, there's a chance they may not grow up to be good little cult, I mean Scientology, members. Allegedly.

And did you notice the photo at the end of that article about Nicole? It's a pic of Katie smiling behind Tom & she looks drawn & tired. With all that money & all that help & the image to uphold.... She looks HIS age, not hers. But maybe that's the point?

I just read the People mag. article on Jenny McCarthy's autistic child and it doesn't say anything about Scientology curing him. It talks about her changing his diet, how Holly Robinson Pete told her to get aggressive treatment at his early age, the UCLA therapists that she got to work w/him and how costly it was. Not once was Scientology mentioned ... nor the cure for her son coming from Scientology.

I have to wonder if it isn't Aspergers than full-blown autism? I had a student w/an Aspergers diagnosis on his IEP and Jenny McCarthy's boy (from what was said in the news article) seems to be v. similar to the child that was in my class.

As for Oprah and Scientology ... I don't think so. I'm thinking that Scientology Central would be shouting it from the rooftops if Oprah were a Scientologist. I don't think who she has on her show has anything to do w/them being Sceintologist or not. She did an entire show autism and had Jenny McCarthy on. Jenny McCarthy has recently made her child's autism public through her brand new memoir. That is the reason she was on. She had Tom Cruise on and that show was about Mission:Impossible, the whole hating on Brooke Shields and his Matt Lauer interview and, of course, Katie Holmes. I don't think that having him on was totally about having a Scientologist celeb. on. I don't care how much money Oprah has ... if Scientology wants it to be known that Oprah is a member, it would've come out long ago.

All these stupid magazine covers & articles of how Tom & Katie want to have another child & how they want it to be a girl if they have their way. Ummm, they need to start by at least sharing a bedroom.

Geez guys, seriously, don't tick off the Cruiser.....this is why I think Nicole doesn't fight for custody of the kids.............................

Man in Cruise Extortion Plot Found Dead
Sept. 29, 2007, 11:29 AM EST
The Associated Press
PHOENIX -- A man who agreed to plead guilty in a plot to extort more than $1 million from Tom Cruise for the actor's stolen wedding photos was found dead in his home, authorities said.
Investigators said it appeared David Hans Schmidt, 47, who was under house arrest and faced up to two years in federal prison, had committed suicide.
He was found dead in his townhouse around 3 p.m. Friday after police noticed a tracker placed on him had not moved and he had not checked in, said Lt. Anthony Lopez.
His attorney, Nancy Kardon, said she had spoken to Schmidt earlier this week and was preparing for an Oct. 11 hearing in federal court where he would enter his formal guilty plea to attempted extortion. She said she had planned to ask for probation.
"I was greatly saddened by his loss and I found him to be a very kind man," Kardon said Saturday.
He was arrested in July after federal authorities said a co-defendant obtained photos of Cruise's wedding to Katie Holmes in Italy last year from the event's official photographer, court documents show.
Starting in May, Schmidt had repeated contact with Cruise representatives and threatened to release the photos if he didn't receive between $1.2 and $1.3 million, authorities said.
Schmidt also tried to auction off Paris Hilton's diaries, along with photos of her in various stages of undress and other personal items that had been locked away in a Los Angeles-area storage locker until a few months ago.
He also claimed to have brokered deals to sell a sex video of Dustin Diamond, who played Screech on "Saved by the Bell," and a video of skater Tonya Harding's wedding night, according to published reports.

Does Nicole ever get her kids? I figured Tom would be glad to pass them back to her now that he has one of "his own".

Like the other poster said, pretty much just for photo ops. She lives in Nashville anyway. Doesn't seem to me she wants to be near her kids. And Tom has no interest in handing them back. He has them fully submerged in Scientology.
