I'm not saying how he left JA was right or that Angelina was innocent in all this. But I think the family he was talking about was NOT with JA. If you look at ALL the films she was filming during & after that time, (it was right after Friends ended,) her own professional goal was to get her film career under way, not to take time off to start a family. Best friend, Courtney Cox Arquette definitely took time to have a family.
I'm not a Brad watcher per se, but I did read quite a bit about the breakup. Once JA gave a few interviews, a while after the divorce, she hinted that she suspected there were problems as "Friends" was ending, because their plan had been start a family then and Brad kind of said, "we can wait a little bit longer." It sounded as though she didn't necessarily think their relationship was in trouble, but that they needed to reconnect (as happens with many couples), and that she took on a few more movie rolls because she thought
he wanted to wait a bit for the kids thing. After her interview, various friends said the same thing. (I never understood why she was "blamed" for putting her career first instead of working on a family...BP was taking on just as many movie rolls, and it takes two to make a baby!)
Now, it sounded like the "we can wait a little bit longer" thing happened
before he met up with AJ. I think that's one reason why JA and various friends of the couple never seemed to "blame" AJ for the breakup...I think JA realized that they'd grown apart before then. However, I have thing about people who know that they want out of a relationship but just can't bring themselves to do the dirty work until they meet someone else. I've witnessed this behavior a few times over the years, and quite often the wronged person is someone I don't necessarily like. Despite my dislike for the other person, I've been appalled at their treatment...the other person not having the balls to just break up, instead waiting until someone else comes along, then the breaker-upper gets to move into another relationship while the dumped gets the rug pulled out from underneath them. In most cases I've witnessed, the dumped would have been much less hurt had the dumpee broken things off earlier instead of dragging things out, then riding into the sunset with a new BF/GF. Don't know for sure if this happened with JA/BP, but once she and friends leaked a few things, it sure sounded like she had the rug pulled out from under her...that at the point when she thought she'd be working on a familly and having kids, the man she was committed to got cold feet, then met someone else and had kids with them instead. Never was a big fan of JA, but I really think she got emotionally whammed. Liked BP well enough, but the photos that he art directed showing he and AJ as a happily married couple with kids shortly after the breakup was tasteless, and the reports that he insisted that he and JA were "just friends" almost up until the time she came up pregnant rubbed me the wrong way too. If my husband did that to me just as I was preparing to start what I thought was our plan to begin a family, I wouldn't be able to rationalize it with "well, he's doing charitable works now," etc. I don't think people are divided up into totally "good" or "bad," and I don't think BP is someone who is evil and all that (that's TC! heh), but I also think that despite his admirable work with AJ that he can be a bit of a selfish jerk.
That said, I can try to bring the BP/TC stuff back on topic. I do remember when BP and TC made "Interview with a Vampire". They filmed at Oak Alley, outside of New Orleans, where a good friend of mine worked. She said that during filming there, BP would arrive on the busses from N.O. with the rest of the crew, while TC would get helipcoptered in. BP would hang out for the most part, while TC could arrive just for his shots, and would RUN from the helicopter to the trailer with something covering his face...he didn't want people at the plantation staring at him, lol. She went to an after shoot party in N.O., and BP was there, she got to meet him and shake his hand and had a small chat with him. Said he was very down-to-earth, espcially compared to prima donna TC.
I haven't liked TC since "Days of Thunder". I kind of liked him before that movie, but DoT was such an obvoius vanity project. It was so boring, and bad, and it was like he expected his "fans" to see that boring POC because he was TOM CRUISE. His arrogance really started to show then, and it totally turned me off. That's also when he imported Nicole (while he was married!) because he supposedly saw her in some foreign movie and had the hots for her. I think he more saw someone that probably he would exploit -- i.e., I can help you make it in Hollywood.
