Today was the day we had our backstage yuletide tour were they take all over Disney to see the decorations and tell you the how and why they are made. It all ends up inside the warehouse where they store and make it all by hand… (WOW is an understatement)

Well while at WDW we walked in and there are all these cameras and crews running around and would you not believe it next thing we hear is okay action and down comes the parade and your boy AKA Clay starts singing a Christmas song of some type and there he was and since they were filming they kinda just held him there in place for us to admire. It was awesome you should have been there.

Afterwards since we could not really see all the decorations because of the filming we were rushed into the utilidoor tunnels and as we got to the end coming down the elevators there he was again. Man we could not get rid of this guy. He was very nice signed some autographs and sang a little love song for Donna.

Okay okay on to the tour, man you want to talk about awesome its starts at Epcot and you got to all the big hotels. Then you end up inside WDW and you get to see to see how they put them up, then the whole thing ends up inside the Holiday Workshop were you can see where they make the decorations and how they set them up in mothballs for 5 years until needed.

Things I did not know

You can go to Disney stay at any resort and request a Christmas tree from WDW Florist Company. It’s an artificial tree comes in 3’ and 6’ sizes Disney decorated and you get to keep it when you leave. Cost why it’s free of course…. Ha ha ha ha ha don’t even think about it, it’s not free it will cost you a pretty penny.

The new LED (Light emitting Diodes) trees use up 1/3 the amount of amps as the regular lighted trees and are twice as bright.

Most trees are used for about 5 years with the exception of the contemporary that has gone through almost twice that.

There are some 64,000 Poinciana’s throughout the park and when the seasons over they all get mulched.

Gary Senese will be appearing at candlelight on the 25 of December, and guess who will be there. Donna that’s who.

All the trees are artificial, and most decorations are made years in advance then stored, until they are needed for use.

The holiday team consists of 20 very lucky people, they do it all from design, to manufacture, to installation, and none of them decorate their homes for Christmas.

All the glass, as well as plastic balls on the trees have the tops hot glued on, and are wired to the trees, to A keep on while transporting, and B keep sticky fingers souvenir hunter from taking them off the trees. But with all this they still end up loosing quite a bit of merchandise. That is why they have 5 years worth of replacement parts in case they are no longer made they can still be replaced.

I will take some pictures of all the trees around the parks tomorrow so you can all enjoy a Florida Christmas.

If you ever do one tour take this one, I’m becoming a tour junkie, my next one is the Innovations tour I get to see all the techno stuff.

And if you do a tour ask for Marc or its Mark the man is a walking encyclopedia of Disney I don’t think there anything he does not know. He’s funny witty informative and knows his stuff.

Disclaimer:

Hey Jojo Clay was there and we did hear him sing, but to see him you had to stand on top of 3000 screaming teenage girls and you only got to see his head, plus the walking tree trunks called security IE arms and chest no necks, would let you only get between 6000’ of him.

You were in the MK the same day as Clay Aiken and you failed to notify me? How rude! :) I don't think I'll be on speaking terms with you for a while. Notify me the next time he's in town. :)

Ed,
I will see Cynthia tomorrow so I will print out this post and show it to her. She spends no time on these boards anymore now that she has found 4 or 5 Clay topic boards. We lost Cynthia to another obsession.
Tell Donna she can have Gary Sinese on the 25th, but I will be there from the 27th to the 30th and plan on being in the front row. I am bringing Richie's daughter Jacqui to get his attention, then I will strike. It's ok, my sister used Jacqui to get Peter Noone's attention and she got to sit on the stage with him and get her picture taken. Ed knows what I am talking about!
Send me some info on that tour. I have been looking to take a tour on my next trip and that one sounds fantastic. I wil call on Monday but you can fill me in about it too. Sounds great.
See You soon, and get out your long johns, I am bringing some of this cold weather down to you. Peggie

Ed,

I had my cell phone near at hand all morning, hoping to get a call from Donna. I know there were alot of people that got much closer to Clay than you did. I wasn't sure if they were part of the shoot or regular park guests. At least I know that if I had been there I wouldn't have been able to get the up close and personal sighting I dream about.

I actually knew what he was singing, when he was singing it. I know he was wearing his glasses, probably because he is quite sick - he spent all day in a WDW hotel room yesterday, nursing his bronchitis. I know that despite being sick (he did cough a bit and drank lots of hot tea between shootings) he sang live and did an amazing job. The glory notes in Joy to the World were Clay at his best. sigh He was also in very good spirits and joked around with the crowd making his silly faces and having a really good time.

I know that as soon as the shoot finished, Clay left for the airport to catch a plane for Seattle/Tacoma, where several of my good friends will see him sing in concert tomorrow night. Let's hope the bronchitis continues to improve.

Thank you for thinking about me. Yes, for the rest of your life, when you see Clay you will think about ME... lol

See you next week.

How do you find out all that stuff??? Have you got the boy bugged???? For a guy that was sick, he did a wonderful job of the song...and he had to hang there while they set, and reset the shot...and it was quite cold, and breezy, so I sure hope he is all right to sing in Seattle, but most of all, I hope he gets better soon, and is all right to sing in Sunrise ::yes::

See you soon...

Yes, I'm a little worried because it was so cold this morning. All fingers are crossed.

And oh, btw, he didn't go STRAIGHT to the airport. I have found out that he rode Space Mountain first. And I also know that he stayed at the Grand Floridian.

I'm so jealous that you got to see him. Since it's now Sunday...one week from tonight, it's my turn.

You want to play dirty I'll bring Crystal and Heather and my 4 pair will beat your 2 pair any day of the week. :teeth:

And Cynthia I just have one word to say STALKER I'll bail you out dont worry.

Ed,
I don't know what I am going to do with you. You would use your grandchildren for your wife's obsession?
At least Jacqui and I are not related.
I bet Gary Sinese would really get into Donna and I fighting over him. Anyone have a big bucket of jello? Peggie
PS, Donna I am taller and weigh more than you. Want to give up?

I give!!!! Anyway...he and Heather have a history, we have a video of the first year he did Candlelight..Heather was singing, very close to him, and we got great pics of both of them (video)..and then he made the whole cast take a bow, and they were afraid to at first, as Disney has their rules, but they finally gave in and they all did, now he does it every year...she wrote him a very nice letter after to thank him..

Hmmm I guess I should get her up there instead of me....No jello fights though!!
