We are possibly planning a large family reunion there. Has any one been? Is it clean? Good things to do in the area? It kind of gives me the feel of a modern day Dirty Dancing resort, I was hoping this was the case. Thanks in advance for any information you can provide. :thumbsup2

Yes, the area is beautiful and the resort is nice. They have the Good Zoo on property which is small but they do have a few smaller animals. If you go during the holidays, they have the Festival of Lights which is also really nice.

I joined my husband at a conference there a few years ago. We stayed in the newer part of the hotel in a room with sa fire place and it was nice. Since itr was early February there wasn't much to do, but I did visit the Good Zoo and saw some of the light displays that had yet to be taken down. I would consider staying there again if we lived closer.

It has a golf course, swimming pool indoor and out, a hand blown glass factory, and a few small museums on site. The area has a mall and several shopping areas, a Cabelas store, hockey team, nice areas for hiking etc.

The resort is clean and well run. There are a variety of rooms and cabins. We have stayed at both and find the newer section to have bigger rooms.

We visit often so if you have other questions just ask.

Oglebay Park is in my hometown area. Alot of fun, family, relaxing things to do: horseback riding, segway, swimming, tennis, golf (3 courses), the Good Zoo, paddle boats, fishing, tours, quiet walks, etc.

This is a beautiful park that we as residents usually overlook. There are numerous shops and in October we have the Octoberfest, lots of music, food and crafts. Go to their website: http://www.oglebay-resort.com/index.html and you can see what's in our backyard, thanks to Earl Oglebay who gave his summer home and land to the Wheeling area (the mansion was his home and it is BEAUTIFUL).

Stay, kick up your feet and enjoy!! Welcome to Wild Wonderful West Virginia!!
