Oga's and Fantasmic Hungry Bear reservation conflict

Hi all! Newbie here, seeking your advice as I seem to find myself in a bit of a pickle.

I was lucky enough to snag a reservation for Oga's at 5:30pm for our upcoming August trip, but I had already booked a 5:45pm reservation for a Hungry Bear Fantasmic package for that day.

Any suggestions on how I can make this work? How flexible are Oga's/Hungry Bear with early/late reservation arrivals? I have heard there has been a wait to put in your order at Hungry Bear once you arrive for your pickup window anyway.

If it helps, we'll have our two under-5 year old kids in tow, and my husband doesn't drink and could peel off early. We don't need to spend much time at Oga's - just want to stop in to check it out and have a quick drink.

Thanks in advance for all your stellar advice here!

I think their flexibility depends on how busy there are on any given day. I think your best bet might be to try to do walk-up at Oga's instead of your reservation. From what I've heard, it is possible to do that on most days if you sign up for it early. If you try to do both, it would take you 5-10 minutes just to walk to Hungry Bear from Oga's. (It isn't far as the crow flies, but with crowds etc.)

You could set up a dining alert and maybe a better Oga's time slot will become available.

I would keep Oga’s and try to modify the Hungry Bear reservation to a later time. Keep checking in the app, especially in the days leaving up.

Oga’s reservations gives you a chance to sit at a table rather than stand at the bar so with your littles I would not want to do the walk up wait list (which is almost always standing).

There is a grace period with dining reservations (I think it’s 15 minutes) and they are usually accommodating if you’re late (most of my party was stuck on Indy when we had Carnation Cafe reservations and it was fine. With the two littles you won’t be in Oga’s long, I can assure you. I think it will work out fine. You can also try to check into Oga’s early like 5pm or even 4:45pm, if they have room they will take you.

The thing about HB is it’s not like they are holding a table for you. So although I wouldn’t try to show up hours later I really can’t see why they couldn’t accommodate you if you're late at Oga’s.

Really? We had a reservation but they made us stand at one of the stand-up tables rather than have a booth. This was at the end of 2019, so that is good to know that it's changed. We haven't been back because we really didn't enjoy having to stand and drink instead of sitting and relaxing after walking in the park all day.

A reservation is not a guarantee of a table with chairs because they only have so many. But it’s a much better chance and I’ve been told flat out that walk ups don’t get tables. Every time I’ve had a reservation in the last six months I’ve been seated at a table with chairs. Even better chance if you have a larger party like 4-6.

That's good to know. I really want to have a table when we go. (We have reservations.)

Thanks all! I will do my best to try to modify HB reservation, and otherwise check in with the CMs at both locations once I'm there to see how busy they are and if they can squeeze us in earlier at Oga's. Also really good to know about reservations giving us a better shot for a table - I did not know that and it will definitely be WAY nicer to be able to sit down with the kiddos!

Actually...this may be a basic question, but I don't see how to modify the Fantasmic HB reservation, unlike other dining reservations. I only see the option to cancel (in the app anyway).

So, should I check to see if a slot opens up, and if so, grab it and then cancel the original? Will the system let me book another reservation while I have an existing reservation on the same day? I did set up a dining alert.

Thanks again all.

That is exactly how you would do it. I had to change a World Of Color reservation, so I kept checking for my new day. Once I had that I cancelled my old one.

I also couldn't figure out how to modify that one. It was different from the others. Not sure why HB is weird, but I couldn't even attempt to modify it to change number of people.

We will be a party of 3. Really hoping to be able to sit
