Offsite House Ideas besides WH

Thanks for the links to Emerald Isles. I definitely want something gated. If we could find a good price I'd be okay with a house with a pool and no clubhouse. I've been looking farther away but I'm not sure about a 20-25 minute drive for the parks. The perks of being close are nice.

A lot depends on your itinery when you are there. If you are perhaps doing the parks on 4 days out of a 10day holiday then staying in the US27 area suggestion Highlands Reserve is not so bad as 25-30 mins travel isn't that long. Staying closer to Disney is an advantage if you are doing the parks more regularly. Plus some people prefer the US192 area which is WH, EI area.

I see some of the posters suggested vrbo and homeaway. For those who are not following these two companies, they are now not only charging owners to list but want to take 15-20% from every renter who books via these sites. They are hiding this fee in the owner provided rent total so that renters don't even know that. I would encourage booking directly from owner sites such as www.emeraldislandrentals.com if you are looking for Emerald Island resort vacation homes.

I noticed this fee and was pretty surprised by it as it isn't a small amount. Can you confirm the owners are also being charged? That is quite an addition otherwise.
 

Moesy4, Correct, the fee is quite substantial and could be run in to 100s of dollars. The pathetic part is that HomeAway and VRbo are hiding it in the quote. If the owner quotes, let us say $1000 for rent, the quote shows as if the owner is quoting $1200 as an example. The owner gets a $1000 and Homeaway keeps $200. These numbers are for the sake of example but the general commission they are adding is in fact in this ball park. The owners are charged to begin with for putting the advert which could be as much as $2000 per year.
