Offsite House Ideas besides WH

We are thinking about going to Disney again in April, but we need to do it much cheaper than before (we've stayed in a 6 BR at WH the last few times we've gone).

So far, I've looked at 4 BR at WH, but there isn't much availability.

I love having our own pool, so I would consider another community that is close to Disney but maybe not as popular as Windsor Hills.

Any ideas?

I'm not too keen on a condo or WBC as I am worried about noise from other units (unless someone can tell me that this isn't something to worry about). Any time I have stayed in a hotel with the kids, the noise keeps them up at night.

Thanks!

Windsor Palms. Acadia Estates, and Indian Creek are slightly further out and may cost loss.

We've looked at houses in Rolling Hills which is very close to Windsor Hills (in Formosa Gardens area) but has many nice homes for lower rates than Windsor Hills. There isn't a gated entrance or a community pool/clubhouse like at Windsor Hills though but still very reputable. I've also looked into Emerald Island, Indian Creek, and Indian Ridge Oaks. Hopefully some other Dis'ers can share their experience and insight on this.

I stayed out in Orange grove a few times and really liked it. We're a family of 4 and found a whole house to be a bit much so we downsized to a condo in Emerald Isle and it was perfect . We're staying there again next trip. It has a nice comuinty pool and the houses all seem to have their own.

How far away do you mind being? There is usually lots of availability in Davenport, about 20 minutes or so down the road.

Stayed at WBC last year in a 3 bedroom with a 3 year old and 1 year old. Never heard much of anything from outside the unit so sleeping was not an issue (and I'm a light sleeper...).

Emerald Island. We are staying in a three bedroom townhouse next week. I've been in the homes several times. The neighborhood is quiet, gated and well kept. Not far from Windsor Hills...

You should find plenty of 4BR homes if you look at VRBO or Homeaway. Include Davenport in your search. There are many housing developments to the south and west of Disney that have 3 to 6+BR detached homes with pools. They are a bit further away than WH but still close enough. We enjoy our time in the West Haven development.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I was searching on home away but was overwhelmed by the number of complexes and couldn't decide which ones would be good. We love WH but might not be in the budget this year with the exchange we will have to pay.

my advice. get REALLY familiar with vrbo. it has a great map feature that allows you to select the area you want to stay, and then you can sort by price. we have stayed at windsor hills before also, and it is great, but my kids like to fish, so we stayed at sunset lakes and lake berkeley... both areas are less than wh. completely agree on the private pool and no neighbors! good luck!

Hi
We are thinking of staying in an Emerald Island townhouse - would you mind confirmng whom you book with eg weblink? Thanks

We've stayed at Windsor Palms a few times and were really happy with it... Funny that we are looking for something different now and are considering Windsor Hills..LOL

I booked a townhouse on hotels.com. The rate was good. We are here now and I wouldn't stay again. The town houses are very deserted. The condition of the unit is clean but NOT a luxury accommodation as advertised. I far prefer Mystic Dunes, Windsor Hills or Windsor Palms condos for a low-moderately priced multi-bedroom unit.

Sorry to hear that we had a wonderful experience there last trip in summer. It wasn't luxury but very nice for the price.

Hi - WH is probably number 1 in the area so if you are looking for something of equal standard but slightly less expensive would recommend (as some others have) Emerald Island, it's very similar to WH, 3 miles to Disney, gated, good clubhouse/pool area. If you are willing to go slightly further out would recommend Highlands Reserve, standard and size of properties fantastic real value for money but not gated and limited pool clubhouse facilities as its a golf resort (not a problem if you like to lie the pool in your villa). Hope that helps. Here are websites we have used to contact owners in these resorts in the past:

Thanks for the links to Emerald Isles. I definitely want something gated. If we could find a good price I'd be okay with a house with a pool and no clubhouse. I've been looking farther away but I'm not sure about a 20-25 minute drive for the parks. The perks of being close are nice.
