My DFs Aunt is a pastor and we are wondering how do we go about getting permission for her to be our officiant for our wedding. When I asked DFTW they told us to contact the court house for more information, she contacted the courthouse but they weren't able to give her any info. I know people have used family members and friends as there officiant, how did you do it? What do I need to do? Please Help TIA :confused3

It Depends on the state where the wedding is taking place. We are doing a quick, courthouse "legal" wedding before we go to Disneyland for our FTW, just to avoid the stress of getting a marriage license in another state.

Persons authorized to perform marriages

All regularly ordained ministers of the gospel or elders in communion with some church, or other ordained clergy, and all judicial officers, including retired judicial officers, clerks of the circuit courts, and notaries public of this state may solemnize the rights of matrimonial contract, under the regulations prescribed by law

We are using two friends - one is going to get notarized in the state of florida, the other, who lives out of state, got a minister degree on-line. It was free and did not take long. There are several on-line programs out there. Then they will sign the marriage certificate after the wedding.
