This month marks our 10th year of ownership.

We had been in a concierge room at the Poly in April for 3 nights before a RC cruise. The service and amenities were great the room was, well, a hotel room. We had dismissed the idea of owning for a couple of years but after touring a room we came back and discussed it and did not allow our guide to call us at all. Like any large purchase we started with all the reasons we shouldn't buy and beat it around quite a bit. We made the decision in May and everything was finalized in June. Our perk was the previous year's points which we immediately put to good use bringing family with us on 2 back to back trips in a 3 month span.

In 10 years I can safely say we haven't done it all but we have done a lot of things the casual Disney vacationer has probably never considered. Our favorite off-the-normal-path thing to do is find spots for a picnic which we do on most trips.

We have stayed everywhere except BCV and SSR. We love OKW above all others but sneak in the occasional BW view.

Our biggest regret was the year we wasted so many points doing the cruise. We liked it but not enough to cash in that many vacations for 3 days.

congrats on the 10 year mark! We hit 2 this month. i am enjoying slowing the pace down and taking time out to enjoy pool days and such. I am leaving tomorrow for a BFF/mother daughter trip for 4 nights at OKW in a 1 BR. I would not be able to do this without DVC or be able to take them so i can do "girl" things like the tea at GF without doing a girl trip. My boys would never agree to go with me. :lmao:

Hope we both continue to enjoy it for many years to come. I'm kinda in the stay as many places as possible to figure out where we want more points. We own at BLT and loved it when we toured but thinking there are others we like better now.

just passed 5 myself! and i would never use my points for a disney cruise!! if we ever do "use" them for that reason then I'd rent and do a cash ressie! and you need to stay at BCV and SSR! Both are nice so go and enjoy them!

Congratulations! We're nearing our 8 year mark!

We first looked in '96, and it didn't seem to work....I multiplied the MF's over the life of a contract at the time, and figured we would NEVER spend that much on WDW vacations. :lmao:

Bobbi:goodvibes

PS. We've been on 2 cruises with points, a 3 nighter and a Members Cruise. Have no current plans to cruise on points again, but am not ruiling it out.

12 years and going strong. Had 1100 points over 6 memberships at one point, but down to 3 memberships and 620 points now. We got tired of offering family points for free stays, then having them cancel. I guess Disney isn't for everyone, but we enoy it. Doing spring break and holidays consumes all our points now.

17 years here! Because of work, I had trouble the last few years using all my points, but I just recently retired and am now looking forward to using every last one of them!

I can't believe I am going on 6 years now. Feels like I just bought it last year - time flies. With the points, it is just a lot easier mentally to stay at WDW for 2 weeks, and just visit the parks for no more than 10 days, and many of those days are only half days at the park. These are true vacations. A lot more casual, more relaxed. Not much planning. Just get there, and do whatever we feel like when we get up in the morning.

Wow! 16 years this August. I would have never thought about it till I read your post. The old saying must be true, time flies when your having so much fun. And the fun keeps coming.

Congratulations!! We are still "newbies" with just 4 years under our belt. I'm glad to see so many long-time DVC owners who still love their piece of Magic!

13 years and still going. We love our stays at OKW and now don't even have to go into the park every day (oh horrors of horrors). There is so much to do on property. We have yet to venture off property except for a quick dinner at Bob Evans,(don't have them in MN). My wife now thinks this is the best investment we ever made. Going to OKW for 12 days in January. Can't beat breaking up the MN winters. We started going to Disney when our daughter was 4. She is now 26 and so the trips are just mom and dad. Hate to say it but they get better with age. We just retired 3 years ago and have enjoyed our trips south.

10 years here, too! And we haven't regretted it at all. We started with 150 HH points, and now own 350 BWV and 150 OKW (sold the HH to purchase additional BWV).

10 years for us this month~we have never regretted our purchase!! Just got back late last night from another great WDW stay. Love DVC!

I did not know there was a 10 year club, but I am thrilled to be a member of it. It is 19 years for us and we consider it one of our best purchases ever! We started with 270 points at OKW and just added 150 points at SSR. Since we will be members until 2057-OKW and 2054-SSR, we have lots of enjoyment ahead of us:thumbsup2

We have seen changes and not all for the best but there has never been a moment we regretted the purchase.

The nice thing is we are so far removed now from the purchase we no longer think of it or feel the need to justify it. It is a comfortable pair of slippers and because we have spent so much time there it really is like being at home. The moment we walk through the door it is completely familiar and that is a nice feeling.
