Official Word on Camping Out on 6/14-6/15

ok yes that answers a lot of questions so much! Thank you! I just get all excited about last minute stuff... and this would be totally last minute, if I can convince DH into this crazy idea... I am half way there.... He is more concerned without having sleep- I told him I will drive and he can sleep! plus it is his 39th birthday tomorrow- I mean how cool is that to spend your actual birthday on a historical Disneyland moment? He said he was planning on relaxing and hanging out in bed all day LOL> Seriously? Why not make a memory.....is my thought. We have tickets already, and a babysitter... even have 2 patina birthday coupons because my birthday is also in June. The tank is full and the bag could be packed in 15- 20 minutes! ( i woke up early to do the wash)....I was thinking if we went... we could bring a blow up beach ball- and toss it to folks like the "wave" see how far it went.... and meeting crazy DL folks sounds so nice! I have 5 hours to convince DH- I get off work at 3:30- we would have to leave by 4- its a 6 hour drive.... Crossing my fingers! Wish me luck!

1 more question.... would you recommend getting a room for tonight and Fri ...if you plan on camping out... and only staying for Friday then heading home Sat? would that be a real waste of money? Just wondering in case we could not get a room avail until say 3 pm on Friday like normal check in hours.... but would hate to waste the money also. But.... could you get in line to get your wristband go back to the room, sleep until 4 then go back in line?

even if you have the money to do that I highly doubt that there is any availability at this time...could be wrong but i would be surprised if I am...

I was going to either stay at Cortona- 96 a night, Motel 6- 65 a night and Hyatt is 109 a night..... expedia and hotels.com have a lot of rooms avail still! I was surprised too! Good idea to charge up everything!

There's a group of people (about 25) here at work getting together at 5:00 p.m. for dinner and then heading off to DL. I'm willing to bet as soon as they allow people to start lining up at 11:00 tonight, that line is going to grow fast. Fortunately, most of them are going for the merchandise and not necessarily the rides. I think this event will be bigger than most of the past events they've held here.

If they run it anything like they ran Deaf Entertainment Weekend earlier this year, you will not know when they hand out the wristbands. At that event, they just kept telling us they would pass them out "soon." Soon happened to be 2 hours in. If you are using the restroom while they start passing them out, you miss out. Your friend or family member will not be able to get you one since the CM's place them on you. At least, that is how it went down for this last event which was not nearly as large as Carsland opening.

Just a heads up, the "unofficial" line at the 15 min lot was about 50 people long an hour ago.

could you get in line to get your wristband go back to the room, sleep until 4 then go back in line?

In the past, they frequently move the line, and they very well could move part of the line into Disneyland. When the line moves, if it moves past certain areas, you won't be able to rejoin, then have to return to the end of the line. Definition of getting out of line at these events means to run to the bathroom/get food/drinks. Going back to the hotel room isn't usually accepted. If you remember the wristbanding from the 50th, they moved people into areas of DCA, and groups were moved into Disneyland by groups.

We just left Disneyland Park to walk to our hotel and there was AT LEAST a couple hundred people waiting. It was dark so I'm guessing there are much more we could not see...!

I posted elsewhere here that there were people already lined up at 12noon today. There were two lines: one for those wanting merchandise (sooo sad I won't be getting pins!) one for those simply wanting to go into DCA.

Just saw the line 30 mins ago. There were at least several thousand people already in line! In fact they already ran out of space in the 15 min parking area which was SUPPOSE to start around 11 p.m. Yeah its going to be a looooong night lol. I will be sleeping at the Sheraton and will figure it out in the morning. I rather have a full night sleep and have to stand in a long line vs no hours sleep in a slightly less longer line. BUt I applaud all the people who can do it!

In line with wristband. I am very disappointed with the fact that every cm I talked to had conflicting information as to where the early arrival queue would start. Also, I was hoping to watch the re dedication speech in person as several cast members said we would. The current information is that we'll be outside in the queue while the speech is going on without any indication if the large screen in the esplanade will show the speech. One of the only reasons why I decided to camp out. I mean, don't get me wrong that I'm not very grateful to have had the opportunity to already visited carsland, but I'm ques?tioning why am I even waiting in line? Sorry for the rant; I'm just probably cranky from lack of sleep

ok i dont get it then....why would people need to continue to wait in line if they gave out the wristbands so quickly? why not get them and then come back say at 6 or something???
