"Official" Unofficial Show Your Disney Side 24 Hour Party at Magic Kingdom.

Hi everyone! I just booked a weekend trip for May 23-26. My flight lands in Orlando at 11:30pm the 23rd so I hope to get to the resort, maybe take a quick nap, and then head to MK. :cool1:

Hi everyone! We planned our vacation before this event was announced and were checking out on 5/22. Needless to say when this was announced, we added 2 days so we could be there! It will be our 1st 24 hr. party since we usually go to WDW in the fall.

My daughters and I are planning on trying to make it the entire 24 hours. My mom & brother are planning to take a break during the day. The girls and I will be DisneyBounding as Vanellope (DD20), Ariel (DD22) and Belle (Me).

We are so excited! Riding the rides, etc. will be fun, but we are also looking forward to exploring the Magic Kingdom on a little slower pace than we usually use. Maybe we'll discover something we haven't seen before! A DisMeet would be awesome! :yay:

We received our magic bands today for our 24 hour party weekend!! I can't wait to stay up all night in the Magic Kingdom!

Just got out Magic Bands today as well! I am so excited. I was not at monstrous summer last year but I was at One More Disney Day and I want to say that the busses started at about 430 that year. They told us later but we were there very early and busses were coming. I plan to be at the bus stop this year by 430 if possible so that we can be there before open. I am making a Zarina Pirate fairy costume... though no wings as they would be unmanageable for the rides.

We went last year to the 24 hour party and are very excited to attend this years. I'm super excited they are allowing costumes but I think it will make this years event busier. I'm going as cinderella. My DH will be wearing a shirt that says Prince Charming, my mom will be wearing a shirt that says fairy godmother, my dad a mike wazowski shirt, and my cousin a buzz lightyear shirt. I'm the only one actually wearing a costume... But I'm sooooo excited!!!

Then were heading back to hotel to sleep for a few and heading to a waterpark for the day.

So excited for this!

My DH and I decided on doing this trip only about 6 weeks ago. Middle DD was named a scholar-athlete and the event is at WDW during Memorial Day weekend, so then we started to consider and decided to go for it since we have annual passes (we have promised ourselves NEVER to get PAPs again, no matter how good the deal is, because they totally sucker us in! :rotfl:).

In the space of one long weekend, we are trying to accomplish:
  • SWW at DHS
  • 24-hr event at MK
  • Seeing Parade at AK one last time
  • Enjoying SAB to the fullest (staying at YC & have never been there before)
  • Hoping to ride SDMT!!
...oh yeah, and the tribute event for my middle DD which is why we decided to do this in the first place, lol!! :lmao:

I know, it's crazy. Oh, AND, we are keeping this all a secret from our DDs. SOOO hard to keep my mouth shut, especially when they love the planning. Luckily we have our trip this summer so anytime I start to slip I can just cover with that. Example: "Do you want to do a meet & greet with Anna and Elsa? Should I try for a FP+? [pause. panic. recover.] I mean for our trip in JULY.... uhh, I'm just thinking ahead..." DOH! :crazy2:

I am interested in learning more about:
  • How early the buses start running
  • How quickly any 24-hr merch might sell out
  • What period of time is generally the most busy
I realize there isn't much precedent for these events to go by, but if anyone has input I would love to hear it.

So excited to be planning with you all! ::yes:: :hyper: :goodvibes

We did the SWW and 24 hr event last year.
As far as busses. we drove and left the Pop at 5 am to get there. My husband saw a handful of people at the bus stop when we left but I don't believe they were picked up before 5:15 or 5:30 am.

We saw no busses on our way there or entering the gates.

I posted a few pics in another thread to show how non-existent Disney transportation was as we drove thru the MK.
I'll try to find the link.

My BF and I will be there as well! :cool1: He wants to wait until noon or so to go in to the park, but I am trying to talk him into rope drop. (I figure they will have some type of opening ceremony even if it's just the usual one.) I'm doing a type of diy maleficent costume if all of my stuff comes in. If not, I will be dressing up as tinkerbell. BF will be dressed as a pirate. Maybe tink would go better with the pirate anyway. hmm... :scratchin I really want to do Zarina the pirate fairy, but I'm thinking I'll save that for MNSSHP. I'm so excited. I was so happy they decided on this date because we already had this vacation scheduled for SWW. Can't wait! :hyper:

And what time is the 3pm Parade? Ok.....I understand it's 24 hours and adults can dress up, sounds like fun. Has Disney announced anything else special? Characters, dance parties, special shows, etc.? We will be at HS for some Star Wars Weekend stuff but thinking we will hop over to MK at least for some of the day/evening to check out the 24 hour event. At least DH (me) can get to MK at 6am, not sure about the rest of our party.

We will be there. If we want to be at rope drop what time should we be at the bus stop? We are staying at Pop.

We accidentally chose this date for MK before announcement. Don't know if it will be a good thing or not.

My husband saw people at the bus stop at the Pop as we were driving out at 5am. But I know they weren't picked up that early. I just don't know if they had a 15, 20 or 30 min wait at the stop at 5 am.

here's the other 24 hr. event thread with a few photos I posted of the roads at that early hour. No resort busses yet.

Nothing has been announced yet as far as special characters/shows. The parade will be at noon and 3pm. I have a FP+ scheduled for noon so that is definitely happening. I doubt there will be much going on during the day... the night hours will probably be when things happen.

My DS14 and I are arriving late the night of the 22nd. We are staying at ASMu that night before starting our 8 nights at AKV so we'll spend the morning of the 23rd checking in there and getting or magic bands activated.

Our tradition is to ride RnR before we do anything else so I'm thankful for FP+:). We plan on hitting DHS around 1030 and doing RNR, TOT and SW before heading back to AKL and unpacking and getting ready to go to MK.

Based on past experiences, do you think we'll be ok arriving at MK around 1900 or should we try to get there earlier/later? I'll have my car, but am considering taking a bus to MK.

What's the situation with buses that early?

I've finally decided - I think we might go showing our Incredibles side! T shirts for me, DH, two kids and baby, then t shirts I'm gonna have to make to turn my other two sons in to Syndrome and Frozone - if possible!

We will be there for when it starts - that's the plan anyway! Then moving over to Hollywood studios for Star Wars weekend.

I am worried about the buses though - will they run early enough? It will be a nightmare trying to find a fab for us seven, and we would need car seats.

We booked our trip long before this was announced, and then I booked special events at HS for SWW - a character breakfast at SciFi and then the Feel the Force package which includes the parade and the fireworks party in the evening. If we didn't have one booked, I would be able to hit the MK either early in the morning before HS or after dinner. Now I don't know what to do...

If we were to go to the MK from 3-8ish (PM), would there be enough "special" features during that time to make it worthwhile? I'm thinking special character meets, a parade, anything along those lines that would be worth the extra effort. Or does everything tend to take place during the overnight portion? DS is 5, midnight is probably the latest he could make it (based on his MNSSHP experience) so there is no way we could do all night!

Mom2Faith - is there any chance you could edit your OP to include answers to the FAQ? I keep coming back to this thread because I can't remember what has been asked or not... :o

I have a couple of obvious questions:

1, The bus situation - are they going to be running early for this? Or are we going to need to get a cab? What has happened in the past?

2, What time should we aim to be there for? Is it likely to be really busy at Rope Drop?

Does anyone have any idea when the schedule of events for the day might be released?

There are no answers at this time. The news release should be today, but the information in the OP is all the information that has been confirmed at this time.
