"Official" Unofficial Show Your Disney Side 24 Hour Party at Magic Kingdom.

I've been surprised at how quiet this subject is too! We booked our vacation way back last year so when this announced I was absolutely bouncing with excitement!

I need to know what the bus situation is as we don't drive.

I won't be able to do the full 24 hours as I would LOVE to do as I have 5 children and a husband who just won't tolerate it ;) however, I have a burning dream to see sunrise over the Magic Kingdom, so I want to be there bright and early for that, catch some of the party vibes, have some fun, then head over to Hollywood studios for SWW later in the day.

No idea on costumes - I really really want us all to dress up but my husband isn't playing ball. I'm limited to a character with bizarrely red hair (unless I get a wig! lol) and I am stuck whether to stick with the 'heroes and villains' theme, or just dress up as anyone!
I'm wondering if we could all just do Incredibles t-shirts. Though we have two too many, so maybe someone should be Syndrome - and a Frozone? Though that one looks too hot...

SO glad to see someone else is excited!

We'll be there!! The bff and I that is!
Our plan is to rope drop at 6am, which we'll be Disneybounding as Tink & Wendy, meet some characters, ride some rides, we've got a fp for Anna & Elsa, then have breakfast at CRT, and head out for a long nap.

Arrive back at MK around 5pm ish? in costumes for the rest of the night and plan on staying til 6am!!

All I know right now is we will be arriving in Orlando around 5pm so after checking into our resort and unpacking and changing we'll catch a bus to MK.

My husband and son are saying they won't dress up. My DD14 wants to Disneybound the Chesire Cat.
I thought I wanted to be Maleficent but after running around my house for an hour yesterday with the head gear and black tank dress and the material draped around me that I'm going to be making the sleeves from, I was burning up and had a headache from the horns so that is out. I'll save that for MNSSHP because I'll be more used to the heat then.

I've got another idea for Sleeping Beauty so tomorrow I'll be going back to the fabric store. I don't have long blond hair but I don't care. Maybe the 3 Fairies will be out and I can get my pic taken with them.

Sorry, no idea about the bussing, but have you noticed there hasn't been much traffic on these 24 hour event threads... maybe we'll have the parks all to ourselves! Hahahaha!

We're going with a Marvel theme - DH will be SpiderMan, DS14 Captain America, DS11 will be the Hulk, and I am Wonder Woman. Which reminds me... gotta order the facepaints!

My sister and I had no idea it was Heroes and Villains but we're doing Marvel too!! We were going to DisneyBound Marie and Jack Sparrow but decided on Iron Man (me) and someone else (her) instead because I just got a shirt with the glowing Arc Reactor that will look super cool after dark!! I'm so excited!!

My AP sis got the email about the shirts and figured we wouldn't want one...ugh!!

I really hope they have more merchandise for sale other than that tshirt. I didn't like how they don't even say anything about the 24 hour event on the fronts (just the sleeves).

We're planning to try for the whole 24 hours in the park and trying to hit every attraction. Doing all of our favorites early, spending the warmest hours doing Splash, WDW railroad, riverboat, CoP, tiki room, CBJ, and HoP. Got a lunch FP+ for BOG and trying the golden oak outpost chicken sandwich I've been trying to get for the last 3 years (it's never open in the off-season months when I go).

I wish they'd update the website calendar or the travel agents' calendar to reflect the 6 to 6 times. I still don't really believe wishes will be at 9. It was at 10 during the 24 hour party last year and it's at 10 every other day that week :confused3

This trip has been planned for over 8 months and just so excited this is falling on our trip! We've never been for a 24 hour event, so not really sure what all happens. Are you able to get FP in the middle of the night? Or do you need them? I watched the event last year online. :) Don't really know what to expect. Anything I can learn would be so fantastic!!

My 19yo daughter and I will be driving down late on the 22nd. We will probably arrive at Pop Century around 10:00-11:00pm. We are going to sleep a few hours and then go to rope drop. We are going to try to stay the whole 24 hours, but if we start to wear down we will head back to Pop for a power nap in late afternoon or early evening. We definitely want to be there from midnight to 6:00am.

I'm going as Jose from three caballeros. Got yellow shirt and green shorts to go with my
Hat and cigar. Also adding some feathers :-)

Will be going there solo. Plan to be there at the gates by 5:30, and stay for the full 24 hrs. Will go hard early, slower mid-day, and harder late night again. Have a BOG FP for lunch. Hoping to meet up with some DISers here and there during the day.

Has the DISUnplugged staff announced a meet-up for the event yet? It seems like I remember Pete saying something about it when it was first announced, but I haven't heard anything definite yet.

That would be fun!! :) I'm all for a meet up.

We will be there I am too excited! Plan on being there right at rope drop! I think I am going to dress up as the China doll from Oz the Great and Powerful :cool1: told my DH he could be a flying monkey he didn't go for it :rotfl2: I am really wanting to stay the whole time but probably won't make it all night since we are going to SWW the next day

They haven't announced anything official yet.. I know they mentioned that a lot of them were planning to attend. I would love to meet up with everyone. We were at Disapalooza in December. It would be like a reunion :)

We are so excited about this! We were up late last year, got to MK about 9pm and found the crowds to be largely gone by 11pm. We made it till 4am and at that point the park felt fairly empty. Last year we worked all day and then drove up from Tampa area, which was killer. This year we are taking the day off work so we can sleep in a bit in the morning. My kids have school that Friday, and I am still considering whether I want to pull them out for the day or just pick up my 13 year old at 2:55 and head out from there. DH is VERY anti-costumes at the moment, so we're still working on talking him into at least letting the girls dress up, 13 year old was Captain America girl last year for Halloween, could go with that possibly. 16 yr old is VERY into OUAT in Wonderland, and has been puttihg together an "Alice" outfit from the show, so wants to wear that. Otherwise, we'll likely be in tshirts with characters.

Wonder Woman is DC not marvel!

So excited for this!

My DH and I decided on doing this trip only about 6 weeks ago. Middle DD was named a scholar-athlete and the event is at WDW during Memorial Day weekend, so then we started to consider and decided to go for it since we have annual passes (we have promised ourselves NEVER to get PAPs again, no matter how good the deal is, because they totally sucker us in! :rotfl:).

In the space of one long weekend, we are trying to accomplish:
  • SWW at DHS
  • 24-hr event at MK
  • Seeing Parade at AK one last time
  • Enjoying SAB to the fullest (staying at YC & have never been there before)
  • Hoping to ride SDMT!!
...oh yeah, and the tribute event for my middle DD which is why we decided to do this in the first place, lol!! :lmao:

I know, it's crazy. Oh, AND, we are keeping this all a secret from our DDs. SOOO hard to keep my mouth shut, especially when they love the planning. Luckily we have our trip this summer so anytime I start to slip I can just cover with that. Example: "Do you want to do a meet & greet with Anna and Elsa? Should I try for a FP+? [pause. panic. recover.] I mean for our trip in JULY.... uhh, I'm just thinking ahead..." DOH! :crazy2:

I am interested in learning more about:
  • How early the buses start running
  • How quickly any 24-hr merch might sell out
  • What period of time is generally the most busy
I realize there isn't much precedent for these events to go by, but if anyone has input I would love to hear it.

So excited to be planning with you all! ::yes:: :hyper: :goodvibes
