***Official*** Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Information Thread *** Contains SPOILERS ***

Maybe they give DHS a month for SWGE at the Shareholder meeting. My guess would now be November. I think things for Hollywood Studios need to open up in phases. Skylinner leading to DHS first. I would imagine they need to make sure that transportation is up to speed before opening SWGE. Second, Mickey's Runaway Railway. I would imagine that ride needs to have been operating for at least a month before SWGE opens to smooth crowd flow. I am not sure on any news on that attraction timing. Shoot, maybe they give an opening date for that ride soon. Last, SWGE opens slowly (Cast member previews, media previews, AP Previews) then open to everyone. All what I would do, if operating. But all speculation.

I think that all makes sense ... maybe even more optimistically you have Skyliner End August, MMRR Mid/End Sept and then Previews starting in Oct for SWGE with full opening late Oct/Early early Nov

I doubt we would get a DHS SWGE opening date .. but would be fun to know.

If they think there bookings are soft for the fall, they could just announce a month (say October) and speculative bookings will happen immediately :).
(I mean .. I already have my mid-October trip booked .. JUST in case .. LOL (really though.. that trip is booked because my daughter turns 3 .. want to get in one last trip while she is still free)

If anyone is interested, in today's DIS Unplugged they had Carlye Wisel on to talk about Galaxy's Edge - she is one of the media in the land and the one on the Jim Hill podcast

I love at 46:36 how Corey states, "you have an ENTIRE cast member devoted to serving you all day" at the cabanas. Thank you for posting this podcast, really enjoyed it, especially the Star Wars portion!! So excited!!

It sounds as though the skyliner is also ahead of schedule, most likely being fully operational by July. Rumour is Mickey's Runaway Railway will open in August. Given that timeline, I think some late September previews with an official opening date in October would be completely plausible for WDW. It would also fit with your prediction that they will open each new thing one at a time, over the course of several months...

Who knows where this will land, but this came to mind also... I don't believe this transcript was corrected after the fact:

"This past week, however, during the fiscal first-quarter earnings call we received a subtle hint. As per the call transcript provided by Motley Fool, Christine McCarthy, Disney CFO, answered a question on operating and marketing expenses. McCarthy’s response referenced the expansion opening “later in the fiscal year”.

Well folks, Disney’s fiscal year ends at the end of September! So does that mean Galaxy’s Edge could be up and running by the end of September?"

Must admit, I am NOT prepared for Disney opening something EARLY!! I was counting on a quiet W&D trip... looking forward to hearing it they actually release WDW date tomorrow!

ETA:
"Christine McCarthy -- Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

So, Doug, on the opening of the two Star Wars Lands, Galaxy's Edge in both the Disneyland Park initially in Anaheim followed later in the fiscal year at Walt Disney World -- we have not given any guidance or outlook on operating expenses that will incur in addition to the normal operating expenses as they ramp up."

DL date will be tomorrow.

Was very busy yesterday so I wasn't able to watch live but will definitely watch tonight and Carlye Wisel was great on Jim and Len's podcast so I'm sure she was great on the Dis as well.

she was very good - and interesting to get her take as she described herself as not a super Star Wars fan (not anti it or anything, just not a mega fan).

Interesting to contrast her take with Clayton Sandell's (who was on Coffee with Kenobi) and is a super fan and talked about openly weeping when he saw the Falcon

I haven't listened to the Jim Hill podcast yet so not sure if she was the same there as here, but here she covered a lot of the food and merchandise, etc. where what Clayton Sandell covered was that but also a lot more detail on the queues for the rides (to the point I think it qualifies as spoilers)

Never heard of Coffee with Kenobi, I need to listen to that episode. Is it a podcast or on youtube?

podcast - and they split the interview into two parts and only part one is posted so far - covered overall feelings and process for the tour and the Falcon attraction ... rest will be in part 2

Not sure if it's been said here but Jim Hill and Len Testa interviewed Caryle Wisel of "Travel and Leisure" magazine about her 3 day long media event on Galaxy Edge. I'm not the biggest fan of Jim Hill's podcast but this episode was awesome. Just hearing from someone who actually stepped inside Galaxy Edge and she described everything so well. Really great episode and its episode 208 of the Disney Dish.
I just listened to this - it was amazing!!!

Lord Vader, this is
an unexpected pleasure.
We're honored by your presence.
You may dispense
with the pleasantries, Commander.
I'm here to put you
back on schedule.
I assure you,
Lord Vader...
my men are working
as fast as they can.
Perhaps I can find
new ways to motivate them.
I tell you this Skyliner system
will be operational, as planned.
The emperor
does not share...
your optimistic appraisal
of the situation.
But he asks the impossible.
I need more men.
Then perhaps you can tell him
when he arrives.
The emperor's
coming here?
That is correct, Commander...
and he is most displeased...
with your apparent
lack of progress.
We shall
double our efforts.
I hope so, Commander,
for your sake.
