OFFICIAL New Animal Kingdom Experiences UPDATE 5/28: Reports from first night in Post #2

I saw the video... I am confused about what to do. I had very high expectations for this show and it seems to fall flat. I will likely be cancelling my Tusker dining package. I may go see it anyway but I though it would be more like the preview we saw a few weeks back before they postponed ROL. I think that is why people had high expectations as the preview seems cool.

If you have a dining package and don't want to go to the show, can you tell them at check in and they'll switch you to the regular menu or do you have to make a new reservation?

Here now. We have FP for the second show but would love to see the first show. How bad has the stand by line been?

While I agree it's disappointing that the FPP is good for pretty much everything BUT the JB show again, you have to admit it's kind of cool to be able to grab another Soarin' or A&E or 7 Dwarves the next day in whatever park you're in! :)

Agreed, but we had planned to take our day off parks the day after AK. So are the Anytime FP given to replace the JB show valid for 1 or 4 days? If ony 1, we might rethink our plans.

The one we got automatically was good for the rest of that evening after the show was cancelled and the whole next day. I'm sure if you went to Guest Services they could extend it or change it to another day for you (or most likely would just I've you an additional one).

I would think you'd have to make a new reservation.

What's the consensus on FP with the JB show? We currently have FPs but I'm now reconsidering it. Without FP, how early would you have to be for either show (I assume probably not as early for the second show)?

I'd love to know about the standby line too.

I just returned from tonight's activities at AK. Here are my thoughts:

We did the safari at 8:00 right at dusk and it was wonderful! We saw so many animals, even giraffes running across the savannah! I think dusk is the perfect time to go on the safari. The animals were all very active. One of the Safari CMs even said that dusk was her favorite time to the ride the attraction.

The tree projections are the best new nighttime addition. in my opinion. It really is so impressive. And it is so nice the that there are so many different versions. The last one at the end of the night is the best. It kind of made me weepy!

Jungle Book was okay for a filler attraction. The water screens worked well tonight but some of the images were hard to make out clearly. After reading all of the bad reviews, I was surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did. Honestly I didn't pay much attention to the performers because I was busy watching the video and listening to the music. I think having performers and video on the screens at the same time is too busy. Correct me if I am wrong, but Fantasmic has video or performers, not both at the same time. There was just too much going on all at once. We had decent seats. We had FPs and sat at the top in the handicap seating. I think the closest to the center as you can get is the best. There was a back-up of people trying to get to Everest and the JB FP line, which is down the path to Kali. I'm sure they will work all of those kinks out eventually. I will probably see the show again, but won't be brokenhearted if I miss it. If I had to choose between the tree and the JB show I would most definitely choose the tree.

Some of the reason we were given good seats for the second show are probably that it had been raining/storming for so long that a lot of people with FPP's for either show had probably gone home, plus we asked within a few minutes before the show was about to start, so they could see there were still plenty of empty seats (and we were wearing our anniversary buttons - not sure if that helps too!). I'm guessing for clear nights (if we ever have any!) they wouldn't have the same availability.

However, there was lots of confusion probably as to what protocol was since this was the first night they'd had the rainout. As Hiro posted from me above, different CM's told us different things. Heck, Touring Plans (not random people but Touring Plans itself) was posting the next day that your FPP's for JB would be honored for 4 days. That was quickly rescinded. Our "special" FPP didn't appear until well after the show, which I think caused some of the confusion for CM's too. I'm assuming they'll figure out a set routine soon, especially if at least one show a night is rained out like has been happening!

While I agree it's disappointing that the FPP is good for pretty much everything BUT the JB show again, you have to admit it's kind of cool to be able to grab another Soarin' or A&E or 7 Dwarves the next day in whatever park you're in! :)
Isn't it a limited list of attractions? Can you use the FP for anything you like?

Going in July and switching around some fast passes. Does anyone know if the animal trails (i.e. jungle trek, exploration trails) are open at night? Rafiki's still close at 5?

So which seats are better? Dining package or FP? Which sections would be recommended for a good view?

Oh, good point.
We have Tiffin's booked but we plan to eat there no matter what. We'll just be out a little more money with the package.
Right now I'm booking stuff for 2 different nights, just in case there is bad weather forecast for 1 night but not the other. I'll cancel whichever we plan to not use a day or 2 out. But what I hope to do is see it with a FP one night and then with the dining package another, to know which to plan for future trips.

We were rained out on Tuesday night. They let us use our dining pass for any JB show within 5 days. We went the following night to the 10:30pm show. It wasn't suppose to rain that night. The weather changed the morning of our Animal Kingdom day! So, I would keep the reservation for the day earliest in your trip. You can always go back later in the week.

Anyone know if the still do the tree awakening if it's raining? Going Monday to celebrate my son's 20th and this is one of the things he's looking forward to.

Animal trails and Rafiki's planet watch close early.
For June the animal trails are closing at 7:30pm and Rafiki's at 6pm
