RUMORED DATES [based on EMH posted on Disney]
Below are the only days MK is closing at 7:00p:

Sept 14, 21, 28,
Oct 4, 5, 8, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, 21, 23, 25, 26, 28, 30, 31

FYI, Sunday, Sept 30, MK also closes at 7:00p. :goodvibes

Need advice...

We are planning to do the parties on The last Thursday and Friday of October. I imagine that Friday will be packed! What day would you focus on the parade, and what day would you focus on rides and candy hunting? We will be in MK on Thursday becuase they have EMH that morning. So we will have already done alot of the rides that day.

I don't mind sitting down 45 minutes before parade time to get our spot, so I am thinking that maybe Friday might be best for that. My only fear is if we have rain, I don't want to miss the parade. I am a big parade fan!!!!

Although sitting down on Thursday does sound appealing too, after a long day at MK... hmmm what to do?

Essentially which day would be best to sit down for 45+ minutes and wait for the parade?

It seems the general consensus among the Disboard and CM's is that the 7p closings ARE MNSSHP nights.

That does make me feel a bit better about my current ADR's and our plans for attending halloween parties on the 14th, 16th & 18th. (At least they are spaced apart :))

Now the wait til mid-May. Have I mentioned how much I hate waiting?:scared1:

I was just wondering...I know the MNSSHP is a big ticket event but how many tickets do they have for each night of the party? Are we talking 1000's or more like a few hundred? I am just curious if I need to be up early so I can call the morning the tickets are offered?

That is a well guarded secret by Disney. ;)

However, there's been rumors over the years. It started at 20,000 then I heard 25,000 and last year it was 30,000.

I also believe based on experience and first-hand reports that they have increased the number of tickets sold over the years.

Anyway, the tickets take a LONG time to sell out. Nothing sold out till at least the end of August or the beginning of September last year and that was only Halloween night; other nights sold out even later in the year.

Well at least I won't be getting up early. That is a lot of tickets. How crowded are the MNSSHP nights?

Yikes! Thanks for the update--I hadn't checked the WDW calendar in a while, and they did indeed change 9/30 from a PM EMH night to a 7 pm close. Now I can't decide whether to do the 9/30 party or the 10/4 party or both. My dh much preferes the parks after dark, and there aren't a lot of late evenings during our weeks, so maybe this would be a good compromise. But we've never been to any of the special events before, so can I pick your expert brains?

1. Is it worth it (3A/1C=~$150) to do it twice? Blackbunny, I see you're going 3 times. Do you do different things each time? Wear different costumes? Will we have to skip things if we only go once?

2. I have ADR's at resorts in the MK area for both nights around 5:00, and am feeling anxious about not getting into the park until nearly 7:00. Will I really feel like I'm a "late arrival" if I don't? Or are most people who enter early using the extra time for dinner at LTT or CP?

3. If we only do one, I'm assuming the 10/4 (Thu) party will be less busy than the 9/30 (Sun) one. But Sunday isn't Friday or Saturday, and it's pretty early in the schedule, so does anyone think the difference would be noticable, or that one would be preferable to the other?

4. Since our MNSSHP night will be a "no parks" day for us, we'll likely hit BB, TL or DQ during the day. I've got to assume that 10/4 will be slower at the minor parks, since 9/30 is a weekend. Would that factor into your decision at all?

TIA for your help. I'm so glad I found this thread--I always learn more from the DIS than from any official source!

I'll try to help.

1. I'd do it twice if I could convince my DH! ;) But if you don't I think you will still get lots accomplished. Sometimes it's just deciding on the activities or the rides but I've been able to do both but not a lot of rides.

2. You'd probably be at MK around 6:30p - 6:45p. I agree. I'd prefer to be IN MK for the meal so I can relax since I'm already there but that's up to you. You won't miss anything really. You'll have to decide soon though because the MK restaurants, especially LTT, fill up fast. You can also try CP, the Castle, Tony's and the Plaza. (LTT and Tony's are open till 9:30p, the rest close at park closing).

3. I'm not sure but remember that the weekend following Oct 4 is a very busy Columbus Day weekend; parties around it usually sell out I know for sure that Oct 6th sold out last year. I'd think maybe Sept 30 will be less busy.

4. Not sure. :confused3

I am guessing that the Sept 30th party will be less busy since a) it is Sun so if people were there for the week, most likely Sunday is the day they will leave to be back home for Monday morning and b) like beattyfamily said it's a holiday the next weekend, so there may be more people showing up in time for the weekend.

Although I have never been, I am "hoping" this is the case. We'll see though. I can always hope for a less busy time, but I am just glad to be going!!!!!

I was planning on going 9/28, do you think that the crowd difference will be that noticable on 9/30?

We went on Halloween night the only time we have been...Never again! The CM told us that was when the locals all usually came too. It was sold out and we were elbow to elbow...it was crazy!
That being said...I am surprising my family with a mini trip this mid Oct and am planning to take them to MNSSHP again. I am wearing my shirt from 2002 right now...I am getting excited just thinking about it. We were just there a month ago but seems like forever!

See ya all at the party!

I know mid-September is a slower time of year, but for those of you who attended the 1st night of MNSSHP last year, how were the crowds? Is everything up and running, or are there some 1st night glitches that you noticed?

In the past we've gone around the 6th or 7th of October, but we are thinking of going a few weeks earlier this year, so we're looking at either attending the 1st or 2nd night of the party.

We are planning on going the 7th of October. Can you say how the crowds were during MNSSHP and just in general at the parks?

Chuck

My guess (and that is all it is) would be yes, a Fri vs a Sun would be busier in my opinion. Even if people are coming for the weekend, they will likely be there Friday afternoon in time for the party and have to leave on Sunday before the party starts ... or at least that is what I am hoping! :rotfl:

Our trip is planned for 9/24 - 10/5. We added an extra night to hit the 10/4 party. I am hoping that will be a good night for the whole family to attend. (DD7,DS4,DS2)

I had actually wanted to attend 2 nights. 9/29 (last FRiday in Sept) doesn't seem like a good choice. What do you think? Is it worth to go to a sold out party, knowing we'll be attending a better night,10/4? What about just taking DD7 (a night owl, she'll last the whole time) and leaving the boys back at the resort with DH?

Thanks for your input.

We have a trip planned for the 30th of Sept through the 5th of Oct. According to our TA there will be a party on Oct. 1....even though the times don't show it on the Disney calendar

This is a quote from an email from our TA :

"Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is scheduled for Oct 1,4,5,9,11 . . . . It is not official because it has not been loaded into their system to book as of today. But - it is already on the Travel Agent sight"

I am not sure what site she is talking about, but I do hope there is a party on the first (I do understand that she could be totally wrong) I have not checked to see about the times of the other dates she noted

I guess we will not know for sure until Disney tells us:goodvibes

Just an FYI...the 9th doesn't match Disney's official hours either. Based on Disney's October hours, Oct 8 the park closes at 7:00p and Oct 9 the park closes at 9:00p. Maybe the TA has older dates that have since changed.

We'll know soon enough.

This was the information that WDW originally released to TAs through their website. Then, when the October hours were posted, the information was omitted from their sight.
