"Official" Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party 2015 Thread - Rockin' Around the Cinderella Castle!

Technically shouldn't all sold out parties typically have same wait times? Unless the number of tickets they are selling for being considered sold out changes? Exactly what I was wondering...I keep hearing almost all the Dec parties sell out, but then I read advice that Tues, Thurs or Sun is a better night to go vs Fri. If attendance is capped at 25k or whatever crowd capacity is and they all sell out at some point, isn't it the exact same crowds? (I'm doing Friday, so guess I'm in for the biggest crowds. But we're gonna have a blast no matter what. :goodvibes

Theoretically. But not all crowds behave the same. The problem is that they are trying to measure crowds by ride wait times. But rides are not really the central part of the party experience. It's more about the parade, shows, fireworks and special characters. And those "times" are not tracked anywhere.

I agree with Maggie'sMom here. Especially with a party getting closer to Christmastime, I would be too nervous to wait until the day of, especially on arrival day. If any little thing at all goes wrong - baggage delays, ME delays, your flight getting to your gate of origin late, bad weather - you could be really delayed and end up disappointed. If at all it is financially possible I would buy them in advance and then it's one less stress on arrival day. This year is my first party but I didn't want to take any chances and bought mine for 12/10 a few weeks back. Plus I have a very nervous-to-fly boyfriend (we get in 12/9) and it's just one less thing for me to worry about while getting him successfully on the plane!
BarbieGal, this may be slightly OT, but depending on how "nervous-to-fly" your boyfriend is, he may want to have a chat with his doctor. When I started traveling regularly for work (about 25 trips a year) I talked to my doctor about my flying anxiety. I now take a small dose of a common anti-anxiety med and it make flights so much more tolerable. And with right dose of the right meds I can still hit the ground running after landing.

We're in the Houston area too AND we're staying at the Wilderness lodge. We arrive Friday morning. How weird is that! I'll keep an out for you and post a pic of my shirts when I finish them.

:dance3: How awesome is that! :dance3: We arrive Thursday at 10:40; youngest DD & I will be in the Lodge; DD & 2 DGD's in the Villas. We'll head for EMH rope drop at AK on Friday and return to WL after our 2:50 lunch at Tusker House. Our plans are to freshen up and head for the MK and the party. I'll PM you a picture of us...hopefully we'll be on the boat together to the MK! :woohoo: :tink:

Ok I just found this thread and I am living in it. I already have tickets for 11/20 :santa:

I get in to MCO at 6:15pm on the 19th [anyone else in Caribbean Beach?!], I really want to go to the party that day but I don't know if it'd be worth it [I don't mind getting there late, I'm just impatient with my Disney magic lol] do you guys think I'd be able to get there with a decent amount of time left? Or should I wait to buy a ticket when I get there? I don't know how late in the day you can get a ticket for the same day.

:thumbsup2 Same night as our group! :thumbsup2 I wouldn't attempt the party after your 6:15 arrival on the 19th. We were at CB last summer and while your arrival via ME should be 1 to 1 1/2 hours after you land you should allow a minimum of 30 minutes to locate your room and then you'll be looking at "X" amount of time for a bus to the MK. Most of our bus wait times were 10-15 minutes but there were also a few that were closer to 30 minutes. I'd enjoy a leisurely evening at the resort and be ready to "hit the ground running" the next day. :tink:

I went to the Nov. 12th MVMCP and it was amazing!! I got there at 3:45PM and they were letting people in already. There are a lot of people trying to get in at the same time but it moves really fast (it moves faster if you have paper tickets).

Can anyone who's experienced the party comment on wait times for A&E? We were unable to secure a FP and am wondering the best time to visit them and how long of a wait to expect. Not sure if pre-party is the right time to go? During the first parade? Or sometime that evening when other folks are hopefully focused on the party activities and special characters. We have little ones, so waiting until it's too too late is not a good option. TIA!

Anyone concerned about the rain showing for 11/20 now :( this would be our first mvmcp and the forecast doesn't look good, for the evening esp.

I know it can change, it has all week lol so here's to hoping!!!!

Late in the night is best, but if you have littles you may want to try during the first parade? (Unless you planned to watch the first parade!)

Going tonight and Sunday (and Dec 17th)

Tonight is with friends, so it'll be more relaxed. My friends aren't quite as gung ho about park-ing as I am, but there are some goals so that should help us get through a good chunk.

Sunday is a solo day, so hopefully I'll be able to get everything else (read: characters) in.

I am also very excited that the forecast shows 0% rain. I went to 5 halloween parties (4 wdw, 1 dlr) and it downpoured at 3 of them, and sprinkled at 2, even the one in DLR when they are supposed to be in a drought. I went to watch the fireworks on Tuesday from the Poly, and it started raining then. I'm obviously terrible luck with these types of things, so sorry in advanced to anyone who may experience some freak storms this weekend :)

Very good advice! I have absolutely horrific anxiety so I have medicine for it and once I told him how it works, he spoke with his doctor and now he takes a small dose of anti-anxiety medicine. It really calms him down a lot and he's still very functional once we land but he doesn't like to take it until just as we're getting ready to get on, so sometimes I have to push him along out of the house, into the car, and down to the terminal! We don't fly as much as you do and he was always too nervous to try it but when he finally did last trip he was really happy he did (so was I - I regained use of my right hand for the 2.5 hour flight). Your recommendation is definitely a great one though for many who are fearful fliers.

OT a bit but my dad worked for the airlines for decades (then meaning free flights for our immediate family) and my mom was always too afraid to fly. Well, now he works elsewhere and she finally decided to try medicine for it...so now they fly, but the flights aren't free anymore! And my dad was such a world traveler...poor pops haha! This resulted in MANY long drives to Disney from Philly! They were supposed to go to Italy for their honeymoon and their bags went to Rome but they ended up in Atlantic City! We never let her live that down haha

I think he will do great this time because we've done flying trips twice this year already and our flight leaves 5:30am so I'm hoping between the medicine, excitement to be going away, and early flight time he will be relaxed and possibly even sleepy (one can pray!).

We were at the party on 11/10. I didn't think it was very crowded. We did a LOT of stuff- but no character meet/greets by choice. here's the rundown:
Arrive MK 3:45 w/paper tickets. Got directed to the "line on the left." They wand-scanned our tickets and let us in. Because we were to the left, it was easy to get our wrist bands, too. We took our time going up Main St. but paid attention to the time because of our fast passes.
Peter Pan (FP+ 3:25-4:25)
BTMRR (FP+ 4:30-5:30)
Splash (standby, 20 mins)
BTMRR (standby, 15 mins)
hot chocolate and cookies
Winnie the Pooh (FP+ 5:30-6:30)
Buzz Lightyear
Wedway People mover
Totally Tomorrowland show
Space Mountain (twice, 10 min standby line, so actually a walk-through)
Buzz Lightyear (again)
burgers at Cosmic Ray's
castle projection show
Wishes (near the walkway to TomorrowLand)
Mickey's Philharmagic (backtracked through TomorrowLand)
2nd parade
hot chocolate and cookies!
Haunted Mansion
Jingle Cruise
Pirates
We caught the very end of show on the Castle Forecourt on our way out of the park.

I think we did OK. We didn't see the frozen lighting of the castle thing, or the castle forecourt show, but that was a choice we made in favor of rides, as this was the only day we were in the MK this trip. We had a great time!!

If I want to watch the second parade what time should I find my spot? I read that you can watch in front of the huge Christmas looking towards the Castle.

Anyone have any insight on allergy friendly treats available this year, or how to go about requesting them at the stations?

Which allergy? We were easily able to get gluten free cookies last night. They weren't out, we had to ask for them but they had them in a box right there. They also had apples as an option. You could also get apple juice instead of hot chocolate.
