*OFFICIAL* July 2010 thread! It Was Hot, It Was Crowded...AND IT WAS AWESOME!!

i'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hoping for some good news when we return around 12

Keep us posted!

We had good weather overall, and a couple of adventures in the rain of course!! On our first DHS day, DH was going to ride Rock 'n' Roller Coaster with his FP while I was going back to the resort with the boys. DS3 was asleep in the stroller and I asked DS5 if he had to use the bathroom before we left the park. He said no. We left the park, and it looked like rain so we decided to take the boat back to BWV instead of walk. As soon as the boat pulled up, it started to rain AND DS5 informed me that he needed to use the bathroom! We went back into the park and used the bathroom, by then it was raining pretty hard. We put on our ponchos and went back to the boat and waited for the next one and took it back to the resort. DH got back before we did and met us at the dock! And he walked back after riding the roller coaster!

On our first MK day (with all the rest of the family!), the weather was great early in the day and then we went back to BWV for an afternoon break. We had dinner at the castle that night, so we took the bus back to MK. As soon as we arrived at the bag check, it started pouring and it was so windy it was raining sideways! We had our ponchos on but they didn't do much good because of the wind. So my shorts look all wet in our photo with Cinderella! :lmao:

On our second Epcot day, we were returning for dinner at Le Cellier and it started raining as soon as we entered the park. We put on our ponchos and ducked for cover for a little bit. It only lasted about 15 minutes and we stayed dry under the ponchos!

Overall it was a wonderful trip!!! :)

So weird!!! We were there July 18-23 and didn't get one single DRIP of rain except for a little light sprinkle around 5:00 one day. It's so funny how it can be POURING at one park and still be sunny at another. The only rain we really saw was the day we were leaving. Friday, the 23rd, we went to MK until about 1:00 and then went back to AKL to get the car and drive to DTD. As soon as we got to DTD it started pouring BUCKETS.

July 18th was the last day we hit some rain, the Epcot day! It was around 5pm because we had a 5:30 ADR at Le Cellier and we were on our way. We left the morning of July 23rd after breakfast at Cape May so we didn't experience the rain that day.

The other rain we experienced was July 14th (DHS) and 15th (MK).

We were there the 17th - 24th, got rain on the 18th while at MK that afternoon (very short rain) and then NONE until the 23rd, it poured a couple of times that afternoon at YC and EPCOT. We timed it just right.............others getting off of the ferry were NOT SO LUCKY!!! :rolleyes1

We were expecting to get rain everyday, and felt like there must have been a bag load of pixie dust for our trip!!! I got wetter on Splash Moutain than I did with the rain!!

Speaking of Splash Moutain, it must be a "timed event" for certain logs to get soaked??? The log in front of us was dry, the one behind us was dry, we got off totally soaked..........I mean had to wring out our shorts in the bathroom soaked!!! The next time we rode it, we only got splashes of water!!! This was the first trip that they got me to get on this ride, still not a huge fan but it definatly cooled us off.

Bangzoom -- how was dinner in the Castle? We are hoping to eat there (B, L or D) for our May trip. I keep hearing mixed reviews, but mostly we want to eat there for our two girls to dress up like princesses.

Ocalla -- that is soooo funny about Splash Mountain. We rode it 4 times on two different days and none of us got really wet...just a bit on the face going downhill and one time when the geyser sprayed up and dumped on us but that's it. I was totally expecting to get soaked...that's what the signs say and it's summertime (I heard they can adjust the water flow for wintertime...)

As for rain, it's really funny how different parts of WDW get rain and others do not...we were there July 11 - 20 and never had a full downpour (or else it happened while we were inside a building). I only encountered rain one time on the 15th in Epcot while going to our Teppan Edo ressie but it was such a light rain.

On our non-park day (14th), my dad went to Typhoon Lagoon and came back b/c he said it was raining and he had done everything he wanted to. The rest of us were in Downtown Disney and never got rain.

Hi!! I ran into your husband and your son in the elevator at BWV on our first day at WDW (July 13th)!!! ;)

Dinner at the castle was excellent! The food was wonderful and so was the experience. I highly recommend it! We were a party of 10 and everyone loved the food!! I had prime rib which was delicious!

I'm heart broken

no luck finding the rings.

We came home just half hour ago and the housekeeper was still in our room and the head of housekeeping just arrived. She said that she was rushing to get the rooms done on time and said that she didn't look to see the glass was empty :(

i have no idea what's going to happen next

Oh no!!! Kurby, I feel so sad for you! I'm sure they'll keep looking. I know this doesn't help but things can be replaced. Try not to let it ruin your trip. :sad2:

security just left

he took a report and asked if i want to get the county police involved. I don't know what to do ??? should i get them involved? I'm not saying the housekeeper stole them so i don't want to get her in trouble.

advice please....

Ugh, that's so tough! I guess I would say you should file a report. By filing a report, you're not saying anyone in particular is guilty, you're just stating the situation that happened.....I guess that's what I would do :confused3

So sorry to hear about your rings.....I'm still hoping they turn up. I would think about filing a police report...you may need it if you plan to file with your homeowners insurance for replacement cost of the rings. Either way, I would think Disney would work alot harder to find them if the police were involved. Good luck!!

I would definitely file a police report so there is a record of what happened. You may need it as an official document for insurance purposes, and you don't have to put in writing that you think it was housekeeping that took the rings.

I am so sorry this happened to you. I hope things work out for you.

Yeah def! We have nothing 'definate' yet but we are hoping. We should def keep in touch!
Were in the same boat...nothing "definate" yet but it wont stop me from planning, putting money on gift cards for spending and soon looking into booking costs.

Your not saying that they were stolen by filing a report. Make sure you explain that when you do file a report. It was a mistake pure and simple. I'm so sorry that your rings weren't found Kurby :sad1: I would still file a report for insurance reasons though.

I'm so upset right now i'm beside myself.

Last night I took my rings off to have a shower and put cream on (this sun is sucking every last drop of moisture out of me) and put them in a glass beside another glass we have change in. I do it at home so it's just habit.

Kurby, I am so sorry for you. I agree with the others that you should file a report.

Sending you pixie dust that they still turn up!

:hug:Debby

Are your rings insured separately? Would you ask insurance to replace them under your home owners policy? If not, then really there is no need to file a report.

If so, then yes, file one. I think everyone agrees it was a simple mistake, no harm intended and you can state the facts in the report but you will still have to replace your rings at some point and that is going to cost you money, so unless you have the $$ saved up, you'll probably need to go through your homeowner's insurance. And like others said, they may want a report if nothing else to just help support your claim.

Once again, I'm sorry this has happened.

I, too, lost my rings a few years ago and had to deal with insurance and it's just a hassle.

We came back on Sunday and I need to find time to write a TR! I still can't believe I'm not at Disney anymore :sad1:

Well no luck.

i've called at least twice a day and they can't find them :(:(:(

i finally gave in and called the Claims department and she took my report and I asked her what she recommended about calling the local police and she said she advised it so I did.

i was given a site that i could file online and just finished filling it out.

who knows what's going to happen now - my rings aren't insured at home :scared1::scared1::scared1:

oh and it's hot as hell down her my brain is fried, i can't think anymore and my feet are killing me.

between getting suck in the sand the day we arrived (see tr for details) losing my rings, this heat, blisters, i'm looking forward to heading home.

that said - the day after we are back i KNOW i'll be missing disney but we're not really doing much because it's just sooooooo hot.

UPDATE

Still not good though

The police just left. He was going to take a report but I literally just finished filling the online report 5 minutes before he knocked so it was a short visit. He did have me go over all the info again.

The hotel manager came with him and said that sometimes they do find them so i'm really REALLY hoping they do

We just got back from WDW this afternoon. I still have about 7 pages to read, but I want to get to my class at the gym and get some laundry done.

The crowds were not as bad as I had expected, except for yesterday at DHS. It was a mad house. I could not believe the line for Fantasmic at 6:45.

The heat was a bit worse than I had excepted.

Overall we had fun. I'll post more later.

Had a fab, fab, fab time and so sad to be home!! :-(

I don't know how you guys do it in a few days. We were there for 2 whole weeks and still ran out of time. Next time 3 weeks!! LOL!

mo x
