*OFFICIAL* July 2010 thread! It Was Hot, It Was Crowded...AND IT WAS AWESOME!!

quick question for those who had the frogg toggs..what did you put them in to keep moist?I am thinking of putting them in zip loc bags..think that will work??

I'm in....welcome back everyone! For everyone who is leaving soon...have a Dole Whip for me!!!

Glad you had a good time.

Less than 3 days for us. Can't wait. Cleaned most of the house tonight. Still need to do a couple of loads of laundry, just one has stuff we need.

Have fun when you go! I now get to do the process of doing just a little bit of :laundy: from the trip. I also get to put away toys, wine bottle stoppers and a few other things.

Just got home early(4:30am) this morning from our trip. My DD had a great time. She really started warming up to the characters later in the week. She was a bit intimidated early in the week.

It was very hot and pretty crowded. There is a huge difference between November and July temperatures.

My youngest DD took a bit to warm up to the characters. My heart melted when she ran up to Daisy Duck and hugged her! She also played with Jimmny Crickett for a bit which was sweet! I agree it was very crowded and hot but on the upside, it was a blast and I know they will never forget the memories they made in the parks and with the characters.

Glad you had a great trip! July temps are prutal

and I'm already wanting to go back! I have atleast 1k pictures on my camera! I met this really nice Dis Lurker when comming back to the WL on a Friendship from the MK. We loved almost all of our meals (although the service at one resturant left LOTS to be desired) and are exhausted. We did DHS all in one day, took us 2 days to do the MK. We only did those things we REALLY wanted to do in AK and got half of WS done. Kiddo's have lots of autographs and I'm looking forward to seeing and purchasing our Photo Pass pictures!

One of my favorite parts of Disney is meeting new people! I'm a VERY shy person and don't talk much to people I dont know, except in Disney! What was the one meal you didn't enjoy if you don't mind me asking?

We are here now..... leaving for Vero Beach tomorrow. I have a thread on another board with trip details. I have already figured out what we will NOT do next summer trip. This was our 4th summer trip. I have learned a few things.

Like you, we said after this trip that this was our last July trip ever..I think it was my 4th trip in July and i really can't do it anymore

:tinker: Only 8 days left for me, DM/DA57 (Mom and Auntie), DD25 and DN23. We are meeting up for a girls vacation - me from Sacramento, DD from Chicago (and law school finals) and DN from San Francisco! The girls really want to go over to Universal to visit the WWHP, but I've heard the lines are crazy long and with this heat, I'm not sure DM/DA57 with the bad back wants to venture over there. Last time I spent the big bucks to get in, I only rode a few things. Don't you all think that on the day they go over there, I should sit around the pool at CSR or meander around the forest trail at AK by myself? LOL! I sure am glad that you can rent a car at 25 with no restrictions!!!!:smickey::tink:

We are back from our trip as well! Got in about 1am last night. I don't write TRs up but I will have an album up on Disney food ASAP! :lmao:

The short of it...trip was great...tour groups were not...got moved from ASSp to AKL/savanna view for the last 3 nights of our trip because of them at our hotel. Best part of the trip! :thumbsup2

We officially have our wedding date as well! 11/10/11 at 2:30pm at the WP and reception at the GF. :cloud9:

I hope to catch up on lots of things shortly! :)

I can't say from personal expierence exactly but my friend was down there this week and last and she went to Harry Potter World a few times. Each time she said the lines and crowds were fine, she said they waited about 45 minutes for the castle ride but the line was half the fun and it flew by. I also have to say that both she and I are HUGE Harry Potter fans so we might be a tad biast but thought I'd give you her observations anyways

Thanks so much! I'll be watching the boards next week too to see what everyone has to say about the lines at Universal! It's been hot here in Northern Cal, between 90 and 100, BUT, no humidity! I'm practicing drinking lots of water!:dance3:

Congrats on the upgrade and your upcoming wedding!! When we were at AS Sports a few weeks ago - there were a lot tour groups there, and I can only imagine it got worse as more arrived. You are very lucky to have gotten the upgrade!

Good night everyone! I am leaving in the morning!!! :cool1:

Have great time!!

Just boarded ME to leave POFQ. Had a wonderful trip. Those of you about to leave, drink lots of water while touring. It really helps. Maybe drink a powerade every 3rd drink. We would try to drink at least one bottle of water prior to arriving at the park. Have fun!

:( That bus!

Have a safe flight home!

We have finally hit the "one week and counting" portion of our adventure! DD25 woke me up (she's in Chicago, Mom is in Sacramento) with a text message announcing we only have a week left! I have put all Disney Mail in the pocket of my new carry-on (with 4 wheels - easier for person with bad back!). I found 2 pin lanyards with loads of pins from both Disneyland and WDW and those are in a side pocket. My $70 Tilley sun hat (OK, I splurged!) is flat on the bottom of the case. I was walking down the mall and noticed that Lane Bryant had a "box"sale going on. Since I'm a size 12 (now I am, was a 26 three years ago), I found a french terry short sleeved sweatshirt that will be great as a swimsuit cover-up! Another find! ----Walmart had drawstring shorts on sale for $10 - I bought a 14 just so I can be comfortable in the heat! I have been emailing my girls instructions on what to bring and I'm sure they both think I'm obsessed and crazy, but I've been out of school for 6 weeks and school doesn't start for another six weeks, so I just must have somebody to boss around, LOL! My Deluxe Passporter has been carried all over, in my purse, in the computer bag and in my hands! The pages are getting dogeared! My new "thing" is watching what the weather is in Florida. Last time we were there, we had scattered showers on two days, and we were not intimidated - rode the Rock'n Coaster twice in 45 minutes!
I know this has been a very looooooong post, but I've had fun writing it and thinking about how I will be somewhere over Oklahoma this time next week! Everyone, let me know how your obsessive plans are coming!:tinker:

It's not long at all and I enjoyed it. I love "seeing" other people excited about their Disney trips.

I have tried to keep myself from obsessively checking weather.com. The weather forecast doesn't seem too nice right now for our trip. 2 days ago, the forecast was perfect, now it is scattered and isolated t-storms everyday, except fro arrival day. I may go pick up another mini umbrella at Walmart tonight or maybe the dollar store ( I heard they have mini umbrellas).

My obsession now is getting all the laundry done and the house clean. I changed sheets this morning and will throw them in when I get home and then after everyone showers tonight I'll throw the towels in.

Has anyone watched the potential hurricane brewing up in the Atlantic - great just in time for my arrival:scared1:!! I hope we escape this one... I have been weather channel obsessed and I know that in Florida a 30% chance of rain is the standard forecast!:rotfl2:

We just got back from WDW a few hours ago.

Let me tell you all that July was pretty brutal. Crowds are HIGH -- our day at DHS there were 22 tour groups!!!!!:mad::mad:We would have gone to another park but had already gotten our special GAD FPs. We had a 30-35 minute wait in the FP line for TSM...had an actual line at Tomorrowland Transit Authority (!!!) in MK. I had never seen a line in all my nearly 30 visits (including June, July and August) at TTA. That floored me!:rotfl2:

We still had a blast but we were tired and hot and cranky and that was just our walk in the parking lot with two strollers!!:lmao: Seriously, even a hot, sweaty day at Disney is better than sitting at home in my air conditioning!

The biggest surprise for me that I didn't factor, was how long it would take to get from one ride to another with two strollers. Definitely plan on getting stuck behind newbies stopping in the middle of the road or a tour group that blocks the entire walkway! I decided to enjoy the building's architecture when this happened to me!:goodvibes

Oh, forgot to say, my TR is in the link in my siggie. I'll be updating in a few days or so...I need to work on my photopass pics!
