Well 20 days until our WDW trip to WL. My mom called this morning to say that my grandmother died this morning. She was taken to the hospital last night. So now my mom is helping to plan a funeral before our trip. I guess things happen for a reason and she was in her late 80s and lived a long productive life, but it's still not news I wanted to hear this morning. :sad2:

Sorry for your loss. My dad passed away early May. :grouphug:

Nikki! Aren't you doing a Wishes cruise? Which boat do they use? I just saw this in the allearsnet newsletter:

The Breathless II is unavailable until further notice due to unforeseen maintenance issues. If you have an existing reservation you will be contacted to reschedule if possible.

A complete list of rehabs can be found here: http://allears.net/tp/rehabs.htm

Hmm I don't think so.....

I just booked the generic Wishes cruise for 10 people with music piped in. I think the Breathless is a private boat that you have to request specifically, right?!?

Hmm, maybe I should call just in case...that would be SO disappointing!

Thanks for thinking of me! :goodvibes

Ok, good! I wasn't sure. I thought the Breathless boats were smaller like yachts and I think the Wishes cruise boats are larger like pontoon style boats. I just wanted to give you a heads up just in case. It said they'd contact you, so if they haven't, you're probably good :thumbsup2

oh anj - i didn't even put it together that it was you who lost your stepdad in december.

boy you're family has been through enough this year.

i think you're mom is right - she will need a little time just to feel normal again.

mourning 1 person is exhausting and now to do it again is such a short amount of months will hit her hard next week.

you might find a day where she becomes upset for having a good time - make sure you remind her that's it's ok to enjoy herself; it really is.

I thought I had read on this thread a little while back (maybe a week or 2 ago?) that the Tour Guide Mike site was having problems with a virus or something. Either that or I read it on a different thread. Has anyone been on the TGM site recently? Anyone know if it is safe? I don't want to mess up my computer! Thanks!

I have been on there recently...yesterday and a few days before that and I have had NO Problems.

ITA! Our first trip was actually the Christmas after we lost my dad to cancer. My sisters and I were 16, 14, and 11. It was such a hard time of year for us, but it was nice to be somewhere like Disney to celebrate having each other and to celebrate his life and the time we had with him. Now, every year that I go to WDW I feel close to my dad, and getting married in WDW wasn't as hard as I thought my wedding would be because I felt his presence there, even if he couldn't be there in life  Sometimes people don't understand why I love Disney so much, but that's a lot of the reason. It's where my family was able to heal and bond after a really difficult time in our lives.

Welcome!!!

I haven't eaten at the Spirit of Aloha, haven't really cared to. Friends of mine have done it and wouldn't recommend it. I do, however, love Ohana!

We've enjoyed Tusker, CM and CP for breakfast and enjoyed them. We are trying Sci Fi and Garden Grill this trip.

Hopefully, some others can give you some feedback before they hit the road!

Welcome to the thread!!!

Of all your ADRs, I have been to both Biergarten dinner and Crystal Palace dinner. This was in July 2008. We loved them both! We are big fans of German food, but VERY picky when it comes to German food and it was amazing at Biergarten! The entertainment was also a lot of fun. It was the 4 of us and we were seated with a very nice gentleman and his daughter (she was around 8 years old if I recall correctly). No one else was seated with us even though the tables there each hold 8 people. We like sitting with new people and talking to them. I know that some people are not into that but it really does not bother us at all.

As for Crystal Palace, we enjoyed that experience as well. The food was wonderful at the dinner buffet. My favorite thing on the whole buffet was the salmon, it was very good! The characters were awesome too, and the napkin parade was very cute.

We are going back to Biergarten for dinner in a couple of weeks! We are trying Crystal Palace for breakfast this time, as I hear great things about it and we get into the park an hour before it opens!

We are also going to Chef Mickey's for dinner. We went for breakfast last time and we all loved it. One of the things we kept debating constantly was whether to do the same as before (Crystal palace for dinner and Chef Mickey's for breakfast) or swap them and try something new. We decided to try something new!

We're also trying Sci-Fi for the first time on this trip, but for lunch.

Do you have children? We have 2 boys, ages 3 and 5. So we planned meals that we think they would enjoy!

Thanks for your replies, Yes we have two boys 12 and 8. I think I planned the character meals more for myself :rolleyes1.

What is the "napkin parade" at CP?

DD and I liked the Spirit of Aloha dinner show - the food isn't outstanding, but it's fine and the show was fun. We're doing it again in a few weeks!

I don't know if this is from the most recently updated list, but I just wanted to say HAVE FUN to the people leaving tomorrow!!!!

LOVE ME SOME OF THAT BREAD

i'm a little sad we didn't book the show this year :( maybe i'll go check and see if it's available ;)

I also love the character meals and I honestly think I would still go to them even if I was on an adult-only trip!

For the napkin parade when we were at Crystal Palace, Tigger was on our side of the restaurant (he had just left our table actually), and they started playing some music and the children got to participate and march around the restaurant with the characters in a little parade. Everyone at the surrounding tables is invited to "join in" by whirling their cloth napkins in the air at the same time. My older son was 3 at the time (he's now 5), and he participated and had fun. My little guy was only 14 months old and not walking yet, but I am hoping he gets to participate on this trip! It was very cute! They had this at Chef Mickey's breakfast too, and I am hoping they also do it at dinner.

The only negative thing I can say was that when we ate dinner at Crystal Palace, we did not have good service. We did not let that ruin our meal though, and we did not allow it to prevent us from going back because the food and character experience were both wonderful. Our server's name was Kip, he did not come over to refill drinks or clear plates even once, and he was around tending to other tables. We would get his attention for drink refills and he would reply with something like, "Be there in a moment" but he didn't come back for some reason. That was the last night of our trip and we were surprised, because before that we had excellent service at all the restaurants, including buffets (plates were cleared right away, drinks refilled, etc.). So as far as I am concerned, our experience with this server was just an isolated incident.

The Breathless II only does Illuminations cruises. Wishes cruises use a pontoon boat.

There was an issue one day, but it was resolved very quickly. Someone hacked the site, but no personal information is kept on there(like credit cards or anything) so all was well. It's good--I've been on there several times a day this past week!

We liked Mama Melrose--we did the Fantasmic package there a few years ago, and Chef Mickey's was great for characters. The food wasn't bad, either--we've done both breakfast and dinner now. We're doing Biergarten and the Luau next week, so I'll let you know.

I just put a stop on my paper and mail. I love that I can do it online.
