*OFFICIAL* July 2010 Thread! It’s Hot. It’s Crowded. AND WE LOVE IT!

Like others have said, we were there last year July 19-24 and I didn't see any difference in the crowd levels. July has a lot of people no matter what. It's part of being at Disney during the summer. We will all have to deal with it together. I was there in August too. (long story, but we went back three weeks later. My mom surprised us with a vacation and she had planned it way before we purchased our own tickets, but didn't tell us. Our trip was spur of the moment so we got another Disney trip. Who could refuse right?) We thought the crowds were worse in August and HOTTER than it was in July, so I will take July with all its issues. :)

So we gave in and extended our reservations. We're now going July 3 - 7 at Saratoga Springs and then over to BLT for July 7-11.

The main reason we're going early is we saw where Pat Benetar and REO Speedwagon are going to be at Universal Studios the night of July 3. (I may be aging myself here).

So here are the ADR's we already had for the second leg of the trip:

Wed 7/7/10 7:15 PM San Angel Inn Restaurante (us)
Thu 7/8/10 7:50 PM Teppan Edo (family)
Fri 7/9/10 7:45 PM Chef Mickey's (girls)
Sat 7/10/10 1:00 PM Sci-fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant (girls)
Sat 7/10/10 1:25 PM The Hollywood Brown Derby (us)

I added you to the list on the top of page 7.

Like Nikki, I was there during those dates last year and didn't even know it was going on. The parks didn't seem any more crowded than normal. So it looks like we're all going to be ok. Or as ok as July will allow us to be.

Remember everyone, July is a horrible, terrible, awful month to visit Disney. The absolute worst. Don't even bother going. If you're thinking about booking a July trip, DON'T. It will be the biggest mistake you've ever made. WDW in July is hotter than the surface of the sun. Do you really want to have to go to the hospital because of heat stroke? I didn't think so. Plus, my aunt's grandma's brother's podiatrist told me this horrible rumor that to save money WDW isn't going to run the AC anymore. Florida without AC is like a death sentence. So if you don't want die, you shouldn't travel in July. See that even rhymes. That means it's extra true. :thumbsup2 And there's no need to thank me for all of this advice. I'm just a concerned citizen trying to keep everyone safe.

Ok. Hopefully I scared enough people off. I think we need to start talking in code around here. Maybe then we can have the parks to ourselves. Muahahahahaha.

:rotfl2:

I think everyone who is going in July should really think about changing to the free dining offer in August!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Really--July 4th is the WORST time to be in WDW. If you have a vacation scheduled that weekend, you should consider changingit--to August. ;)

Booked the other day, can't go in the fall like we usually do so July it is!
July 21-29 POR, over to US for a few days after. 13 Days in Florida, home for a week and off to Jamaica for 12 days! Woohoo!:cool1:

I told DH about the ESPN event that will be taking place during our trip. We discussed it, and WDW is a very large place, with multiple theme parks. I'm sure it will be fine. Plus, the people participating will (at least at times) be obligated to do things on their schedule having to do with the event, which means they will not be in the parks non-stop for 10 days straight. I would imagine they would be in the parks more in the evenings? :confused3

When I was in high school, I was in chorus and we participated in the All American Music Festival in Orlando twice, once in May 1992 and again in May 1994. We went to WDW, Universal and Wet 'n' Wild. On both trips, the parks were filled with high school students either from the All American Music Festival or just groups of students on their senior trip. I don't remember standing in mega-long lines. Of course, May at WDW is very different (less crowded) than July at WDW, but still, this all gives me some hope!!

I'm sure it will be fine and all of us will have magical vacations!!!

***Disclaimer: If you are thinking of booking a July trip, may I just remind you that starting in the middle of August, Disney is offering the free dining plan to guests who stay on property for 5 or more nights! Please consider this, as August is MUCH better than July!*** ;):lmao:

Oh yeah, I just realized that today is May 13th!!! That means that in exactly 2 months from today, we check in at the BWV!!!!!

I almost forgot the date because I took off work today...I have this horrible hacking cough and yesterday I had to teach without a voice...fun, fun fun, you know! My doctor comes in at 1PM and I will be paying him a visit. I have asthma and right now this feels like bronchitis. I have had it enough times so I know when I feel it coming on. I'm hoping I can go to work tomorrow so I don't miss any more days. I hate taking sick days and tend to beat myself up over taking them even though I only take them when I absolutely need them.

We'll be there July 17-22 at PQFQ and July 24-28 at Pop, with two days in-between in Naples.

So far, lunch ressies at Le Cellier- July 19, 2:35pm and character breakfast at O'hana- July 20, 10:20am.

Welcome! I have added you to the list on page 100 - how fun to leave and come back!! I just wouldn't want to leave the second time.

Oh sorry! New here.

DH and I are going to be at POFQ from 7/11 through 7/17. My second trip his first. :cloud9:

Although my first trip was more of a teaser. We stayed at AKL but only for 2 days then flew home.

Welcome! I have added you to the list on page 100 - I could handle a two day teaser at AKL!!

I was there those exact dates last year. Didn't know anything about it....

We were there the same time too and I did not notice a thing. I will say, I am glad we will be out of AS Sports by the time they get there though. I felt bad for the people at AS Movies last year who were there when DDs band was staying there - just because it crowded the food court.

So we gave in and extended our reservations. We're now going July 3 - 7 at Saratoga Springs and then over to BLT for July 7-11.

I have added your additional dates to the list on page 100 - we saw that too! I would LOVE to see Pat Benatar and REO Speedwagon - but we just can't justify the added cost of Universal tickets....:(

Hope you feel better! Sounds miserable - but sounds like you are better off at home. That is what sick days are for.

read an article yesterday about disney's 2 quarter profits and that the reservations are down 10% for the months of June and July compared to the same time last year!!

Ok we did it again. We called today and added on another day at the beginning. We're still at SSR but coming in early Friday morning now. We're going to drop the girls off and go back up to Daytona for the Sprint Cup race Friday night.

DH is a big US fan so we get AP's there every other year. The Summer Concert series is included. Also Sunday or Monday we're going to try out the new Aquatica water park at Seaworld. Each paycheck I buy another ticket or two so it won't hit all at once. Plus we did have to borrow into next years points to get this whole trip.

You are keeping me busy with the updates!! How fun!!!!! A friend saw Pat Benatar last year sometime and said she is still awesome - enjoy!

Well, I guess that explains the deals they are offering and let's hope that the 10% they are down are not just staying offsite - it would be great if the crowds were 10% less!

Hmmm, less crowds, lower temps, and no rain

could we be so lucky??!!??:rotfl2::lmao:

(I can dream!):cloud9:

Just want to let you all know that....

exactly 7 weeks from this very moment, I will be on my way to Epcot for dinner at the Rose and Crown followed by a viewing of my favorite Disney night time event ~ Illuminations!!

Oh, Nikki, that sounds SO fabulous!!!

Somebody make the calendar move quicker!
