**Official Frozen Sing-Along, Oaken's, Holiday Premium Package Tips, updated 1/5/15

We had to be back for the party at 8:00. We showed up at about 10 til 8 and the line was probably 40 people deep already to get into the party area, so keep that in mind. They will NOT run out of drinks/desserts but closer tables go quickly.

Thanks! So that's the same time as when it started at 9:45. Closer to the stage or to the food?

I was there on Thursday-- the dresses are $64.95

Thank you!

Those topsy-turney dolls are so cool. I want one just for myself, lol. I was hoping to get the barbie's because they are so much better than the ones at Walmart. But now I think the girls would rather have those.

Does anyone know if you can get pictures in front of the trading post porch?

I had the premium package, and I just wanted to say that we thought it was worth it not to be CROWDED. It was hot as anything and the fact that no one was crushing us and we could just stand back and enjoy was worth any money that I spent on it. Plus we literally ate three ice creams and took three drinks that morning so that made it worth it for us,

I also didn't mind people seating in the premium area. It wasn't crowded, so we stood back and enjoyed. I did like that our dessert party was in playhouse Disney, though it would've been nice if there had been ice cream again for us during the fireworks-- they had the carts with everything inside but it would've been better had they been outside after the dessert party.

No lines at Oaken's, and the singalong was the most fun we had ALL TRIP (and we are two adults). Happy to see they're shutting down Idol and putting it permanently in there.

Glad you enjoyed the package.

We were inside for the dessert too. I think that makes it better. It's nice and air conditioned.

They did bring out drinks after our dessert to the fireworks, sodas and waters.

I think the Idol and singalong are still rumor at this point.

You can, but it's difficult if the area is crowded. If you go when it isn't, you should be able to get a picture. You can get more of the porch in the picture if you walk further inside then turn around to take the picture. From the doorway it's hard to get it at that angle.

They didn't bring out drinks for us! Boo.

Anyway-- really, that's not confirmed?? Ummm... I hope I didn't get someone in trouble.

Yes, they even gave us a drink to go!

Read it in a couple blogs. Looks like it's heading that direction. But I don't think there's been any official word from Disney. Unless I've missed something?

I can picture what you mean. Thanks so much for the info. I need to add an extra park day so that I can go when everyone else is watching the parade or something.:lmao:

Your parade experience is pretty common. There is just a taped off area for the kids. I think I was calling it a roped off area, but actually it's tape on the ground. That is the only area where seating is required. Anywhere else along the rope is fair game to stand, and most people do.

People do line up as early and some earlier to get a decent spot in the package area. Which was partly why we chose to not stay in the viewing area for the parade. We ate some snacks then left, taking a drink and snack with us, and found our own spot.

The plus to the package viewing is seeing the stage part of the welcome. It's my understanding that they now let the package guests to the front of the stage before the rest of the guests.

I don't think I explained it very well, but the standers WERE in the taped off kids area, as were probably 7-8 families in which all adults in the party sat in the kids only section with their children. I am a big rule follower (for better or worse) and so this sort of thing irritates me - because I expect people to follow the rules as well, particularly in a case where it's obvious the reason - standers block the view for the people behind them, there's not enough room in the kids only section for everyone in every family, etc. Let me be clear - this was not a huge deal, but it is irritating when your brain is calculating how much you spent to partake in this experience of your child's view being the rear end of a grumpy grandma who will not sit down despite being asked several times by various audience members. Again, I probably would have been better off not buying the package since that's the way my brain works! ;) I felt particularly bad for a family beside me whose child had difficulty with heat and crowds and had purchased the package in an attempt to ease those issues - which didn't work. I didn't see them later on at the dessert party and worried that they had just abandoned ship at that point.

They do let the package folks have a chance at the stage before the general population but after the parade walkers. Unfortunately, though, if you have little kids, they get swallowed up in that crowd and have a hard time seeing.

We've hit it a few time where there were no people at all. Hopefully, you will find the same.

I'm sorry your experience was less than stellar.

I'm very surprised they didn't ask adults to leave the kids area. Of course, that was one of the complaints, what about the kids who need adult supervision? My son would need someone with him. Which is why we didn't sit in that area. He also overheated on July 5 out there in the package area. So when we did it July 14th, we didn't stay in there for the parade.

Did you read my TR, by any chance? The 2nd package day in there probably would have helped you. Another family wrote back on here and said they did the same thing we did. Snacked and left to find a cooler spot for the parade.
An hour plus is a long time to be sitting out in the sun for the package.

My DS8 and I are going to be in HS on the last day and I planned our trip before they extended this.

I'm wondering if HS is going to be mobbed as it's the final day. He's not too excited about Frozen and I'm not too excited about massive crowds.

On a normal day, how does this event effect crowd levels?

If it is indeed the last day it will be mobbed. However, IF another extension happens then it won't be bad.

Kristoff just picked up the carrots from the float and offered them to ds's Sven. It was the funniest thing and totally took us by surprise. I have to admit, I never noticed the carrots on the float before.

do you need reservation to attend this Frozen summertime event? i remember last month it was in the fastpass+ link, but could not click it. Now its not there. I will be there the last week of august, will i need to make reservations?

Shall we visit oaken Funland during evening or morning? Which time is less crowded? I planned on morning right after TSMM and character meet, but figure there are lots of people following the same route, since it's close by. Any thoughts? Thanks ahead.

Saw a video of an ice skating show. Not sure if this is impromptu or scheduled. I was planning on skipping the ice skating, but if there's a show, I'd love to see it.

Thanks for the price of the dresses. It will give my DD a goal to work towards for the next 4 weeks :)
This thread is so helpful with planning our trip-THANK YOU to all!!!

Frozen Summer Fun is included with your admission to DHS. If you are visiting before Sept 2, you'll need to stop for a free ticket to see the singalong. If you are going to be there Sept 2 or later in the month of September, then FP+ for the sing-along is recommended.

There is an additional Premium Package that can be purchased for the parade, sing-along, dessert, and fireworks, but it is not necessary.

Details are in the 1st post.

We found the evening before closing to be very busy. I guess everyone is trying to get in at the last minute. The store and Funland close around 8pm.

Today we spent a quick morning over at DHS. Arrived around 9:30, picked up a sing-along ticket then headed to Oakens. Waited about 15 minutes for the Build a Snowman, just missed the cut off from the previous session. Browsed through Tattoine Traders and Writer's Stop, before heading to the Backlot Express to wait in the air conditioning for the parade.

That worked out really well. You might want to consider doing TSMM, a quick character meet if you can be back to Oaken's around 9:30. You'll miss skating because the session starts at 9:30, and paper work and lacing up take time. But you could build a snowman, do the 3 photo-ops, have a snack and watch skating? By the time we left Oaken's it was pretty full. At capacity and they were staggering in guests. When we arrived, it was just walk right in.

I hope that helps. Sorry I'm so wordy.

Yes. They are not impromptu, they are scheduled. Their name is Wandering Oaken's Cousins on Ice. This week, their times are 12:15, 1:15, 2:15, 4:15, 5:15, and 6:15.

Afterwards, they sometimes come out and meet guests.

So glad you finally got your price!

Yesterday I saw a cm "confiscate" someone's sing-along tickets. You may only hold show times for 1 show at a time. This person had 2 different shows. So the cm said he had to take one back. The person got angry and threw them at him. I felt bad for the person upset, and badly for the cm who suddenly was surprised by the sudden flying of tickets at him. The cm handled it well.

So if you want to see more than 1 show a day, you can. But you have to get your 2nd set of tickets AFTER you see the first set of ticket's show. So that you are only holding 1 show's tickets at a time.

On the issue of seating at the singalong, sometimes it pays to be standby without a ticket. Met a very nice family who was the last to be seated for the 12:30 show. They didn't have tickets and were holding in the standby line. They were seated in the three seats front row and center. They couldn't believe it!

And now onto: is there a limit for tickets? I don't believe there is. I saw a tour group leader pick up a stack for her whole group.

On the rumor front, rumors about FSF are running rampant, take them like a grain of salt. There's been rumor about the sing-along moving to Idol and staying past FSF. Rumor of a commercial being shot in the very near future at Oaken's, and rumors of Oaken's remaining through December.
