Official "Friends of the Fort" Weight Loss Group!

Deb, you would think $ would be a motivator. Unfortunately, I have been spending a small fortune on Medifast and not completely sticking with it!!
Two years ago I spent about $1400 on L.A. Weight Loss, (1 year program paid in advance and non-refundable) and did really good for about 4 months. I lost 38lbs...then... SKREEEEECH!!! I got totally PO'ed by being "told" what I could and couldn't eat. I was frustrated because the things I like to eat were off limits. Then....my DBro's youngest DD got married, flew to NY, ate & drank like it was my last weekend on earth.... bye-bye L.A.

Yes, I've gained it all back, but thankfully not any more than I lost.

For me, the WW Points system is probably the best because I can eat anything I'd like, but just have to count the point value per food item, and do some careful planning.

DSis-in-law's best friend (who I also went to high school with) has done an INCREDIBLE job on WW. In high school (37 years ago) she was very overweight and it only got worse as the years went by. Today??? She is skinnier than ever, looks and feels great & is keeping the weight off. When first I saw her after all her weight loss, my reaction was: "HOLY S##T, CHRIS!!! I had seen her two years previously & she was probably close to or over 300lbs - and she's all of 5'1". Then I see her and she was all of 120lbs, if that!!

If you're determined, I guess you can do anything!!
Lord...smite me with determination. Amen.

I'm 5'1. Wish I weighed 120.

I'm going to steal that as my mantra, ok?

Also...I lost 1 lb. Better than gaining 1.

Welcome, Tinah159! :welcome:

Deb, I aree with you. I think you can do anything as long as you put your mind to it. WW didn't work for me as well because they allow you "extra" points to use during the week. It was too much temptation for me. I'm usually very disciplined the first month to 6 weeks of a diet. After that, I kind of lose my willpower and start to eat just a "little" off-program. Next thing you know, I'm totally off the diet and wondering what the heck happened to that willpower. That leads to me feeling horrible about myself, which then leads to me eating because I feel sorry for myself, and then gaining every ounce back, usually plus some!!!! You would think I wouldn't do this to myself anymore since I know that this is what I do!

I have decided this time around I'm gonna take it one day at a time, one meal at a time. If I fall off the wagon, just get back on. Don't wait for it to run me over! Dieting is one of the only things in life where we feel if we make one mistake, it's over. "Oh, no. I ate a cupcake. Oh, well. I might as well eat whatever I want now." Diet over. When else do we do that? If you get a ding in your car in a parking lot, you wouldn't say, "That's it. I'm not driving anymore."!!!! It's crazy!

I did manage to lose 1 lb this week. I started walking so that might be why. I am going to keep going though. Even if I have another few weeks where I lose nothing at all. I FEEL better even after only losing 27 lbs so far. It's really amazing. THAT'S what should be the motivator!!!

I hope all of you are doing and feeling well! Good luck everybody!

 :guilty: :scared: :crazy2: :faint: :furious: not doing so good...thought since I am on the road so much I might try nutri system...alas they have soy protein and recommended that I consult my doc for a program who doesn't lol..seems all the dietary supplements I could use do....and I get hives...back to square 10 ...feeling blue today

Oh no, hang in there.

I managed to actually stick to WW today, do a 35min. sculpting tape and walk on my treadmill for 45min. Yay me!!!! Best day i've had in a long time.

Ok, our posts are mixed up. Hang in there to djblu883

Hi everyone. I really need to lose some weight. I hoping joining you guys, I can get on track and stay there!

Welcome to the craziest weight loss group you will ever meet!!

BTY-I forgot to weigh in yesterday. I have lost 1 lb this week. Not bad since I still am not back on my excercising regime. That is a total of 10 lbs since we started. I'm happy with that. I don't think I would have anything if I hadn't started this with you guys so I'm good. Congrats to everyone. With the way things have been around here I haven't had much time to get on and keep up, but you guys are doing awesome!!

Hi everyone! Are we suppose to check in on a specific date with our weight?

I have lost 7 pounds so far, not much but it's a start.

I hope everyone is doing well. I am hoping to loose 20 pounds by my next trip to the fort, anyone else loosing weight for a trip?

My boyfriend and I are hopefully getting engaged soon so I want to be skinny for pictures! :lovestruc

Weigh in day is Friday. I've have not been doing well. I was supposed to be losing weight for our upcoming trip to the Smokey Mountains. At this point i'm just trying not to gain anymore before our trip in 2 weeks. I'm hoping (once again) to get back on track after the fourth and our vacation.

BTW, Congrats on your almost engagement! Your off to a great start. You'll be a hottie in your pictures. (your BF isn't bad looking either, i saw his picture in your TR;)

When I weighed myself Saturday, I had lost 3 lbs!! I didn't use any plan... I was just careful & choosy.

Thank you! :goodvibes Have fun in the Smokies, that's where we were. It was very hard to stay on the diet there.

Just back from the cruise and I knew I would gain weight. Stepped on the scales yesterday and showed a 12 pound gain! :scared1: I'm sure a lot of it is water weight since I probably drank about 2 gallons of salty ocean water while snorkeling :sad2: On a happier note, I did stay active by biking Castaway Cay on both days on the island (they let us keep the bikes for 2 hours each day) and we snorkeled for two hours both days. The heat and humidity wasn't bad on Castaway Cay but Nassau was H. E. double hockey sticks! I'm sure I sweated enough that my body told me to hold on to as much water as possible after that. I'm still shedding the water, the scales said I was down 3 pounds since yesterday...definitely water. I'm having some hormonal issues now so I'm sure I won't shed it in a hurry. I'll give it until Friday and see what my actual weight is.

Vacations always mess with your body! You'll be back on track in no time!

Probably the sodium. That will give you wicked water retention.:rotfl: Don't worry, you will be back to your self in no time!

Hey all, hope everyone is having a great week, and you all enjoy the 4th. My DH forwarded this to me and I thought I would share it all with you. It's a sweepstakes for healthy food(meals and snacks) to be delivered to your home for a year for the entire family. Wouldn't that be great. I would love not to have to think about what I should be eating, just send it to me! Here's the link.

I'm asking forgiveness in advance for my probable 5 lb weight gain by the time I get back from Disney. I promise to kick it in high gear next week! I'm thinking about using the gym at WL.....thinking about it ;)

I actually think I'll do pretty good this trip. The only meal I'll be eating "out" will be on Friday evening going to Earl of Sandwhich before PI. It doesn't sound like there's going to be too many "sweets" at the GG meal, so I'm golden.
