Official Dancing With the Stars: Spring 2016

I just went back "On Demand" to see Von's "Bad" dance that I missed. Von did well. :thumbsup2 Doing any MJ dance is really tough, as he's more iconic than many of the other famous dances.

I wish Witney hadn't danced all the same moves right next to Von, especially as she was wearing a lighter colored sparkly jacket. She accidentally pulled focus on what should have been a "solo star" dance, instead of a "couple" dance. But, I also understand that dance is so technical to get correct and with so many moves, that she had to do the dance too, right next to him, as that was how she was teaching him the dance all week.

Why did they hide beautiful nyle behind that mask... :worried: Now not only are they all doing varying styles and difficulty, but nyle's gotta wear stupid teeth and crap on his face. Bah.

He still killed it though hehe :goodvibes

Just watched on dvr. Some great performances tonight. I even liked the two football players, who I really didn't notice prior to today.

I love Footloose, just watched it two days ago with my teenager. I was worried Antonio would ruin it, but he really pulled it off. Good for him!

Nyle was very slightly off, but didn't deserve the 8's, imo. Ginger was boring as usual. Jodie was wonderful given the tough piece she had to replicate. Pink is not someone an amateur should take on, but she held up well.

As someone said upthread, Paige has some very definite dance training in her background. It showed in this piece. Absolutely cheer training but probably competitive dance as well.

Wanya... I just love him more and more each week. I would love to see Wanya and Nyle in the finals.

Yes, I believe that we found our "professional" star for the season:

When VanZant discusses her readiness for whatever is next, she does so with confidence that stems from braving big moves in the past. The Oregon native was severely bullied in high school because she was a blonde freshmen varsity cheerleader -- an outline easy for others to hate without personally getting to know her. She aced auditions to dance for the NBA’s Portland Trailblazers before her Sweet Sixteen. Even with that opportunity, VanZant felt it was too toxic in her hometown, so she utilized a two-year scholarship to transition to college at 16 years old.

VanZant’s family later moved to Reno, where she attended Truckee Meadows Community College. She studied business and culinary arts but still wanted something to be a part of in her new town. Suddenly, she was drilling leg locks in her first-ever martial arts class with UFC hall of famer Ken Shamrock -- the first person to tell her she could have a career in pro fighting. There were no dance teams in Reno, and looking back, she is glad. Otherwise, she might have never found fighting. Shamrock eventually closed his doors, and at 18, VanZant moved with her 1-0 pro record to Las Vegas because she figured that was what she was supposed to do.

Hardly seems fair to people like Nyle who literally had never danced before. Nyle for the win....although it's clear to me that the producers were trying to create more of a "contest" by knocking him down a bit this week...ridiculously difficult dance in a prosthetic face mask that even further limited his ability to use visual cues, which he relies upon to a LARGE extent. This is a TV show....not a real contest.

I thought it was brilliant to do that in a way~ because focus was truly on his dancing not his looks (which I am a fan of, lol)giving him even MORE credibility that he is getting votes based on his dancing. At least for this week. Plus, Maks probably suggested it :rolleyes1;):laughing:The comment about Mark, (like Sharna's goof)was most likely edited to also level the playing field. Len drawing so much attention to it was very , very intentional. Def to take Nyle down a notch. I really, REALLY hope it is Ginger next week and not Kim. I was saddened for her baby when she was saying her schedule...I mean, I know infants sleep a lot and she is seeing him while practicing etc., but dang~ you cannot get that time back and she is not winning the mirror ball. Not worth it. I appreciated them toning down her husband this week. Maybe others were commenting on twitter/social media about him being on screen a bit much.

glad you found this...when Paige did that little spin and put the hip check into it? I was like....sass to the max, she's definitely done THAT before! I enjoy watching her dance tho, she is a cutie. I am guessing our final 3 are Nyle, Paige and Wanye. That way none of the football players are deemed better than the other, and I think Wanye may just take it all. His attitude (that has been shown) is just the best and Lindsey? Besides those legs that are a mile long, the girl has wicked talent and you just can't stop watching her. Plus both Mark and Peta have won before.

So, I guess I was the only one that was underwhelmed by Paige's performance. It just seemed to be "safe" to me.

My favorite last night was Wayna, but he's been my favorite all along. I also really liked Von. I think that Nyle and Paige were overscored and Ginger was underscored.

I did like Nyle and I appreciated that Peta let him dance alone quite a bit but I think that led to him being out of sync because he didn't have anyone to watch. I also thought it was a dirty trick to put him in a mask that could interfere with his vision. One more thing, everyone was ALL OVER Tamar last season for saying that she was the best in the competition. This thread, the internet, EVERYONE. Now Nyle says that none of the stars are his competition and that V-V-Val is his competition? Freaking crickets.

I'm not keeping up with social media but maybe it's because Tamar wasn't really liked whereas Nyle is? But when he said that Val was his competition, I thought man, why did you have to go and say that for. Maybe he meant for the looks factor, not the dancing. You know they edit these interviews how they want us to perceive them.

I think I remember nyle getting surprisingly cocky towards the end of antm too haha. At least val seemed to take it well! The sign of a secure, confident dude.

I haven't watched yet, on my list of shows to watch today...but happy with who was eliminated

Nyle is part of The Fam now, being with Peta. We were gone for the last two shows, so caught up last night. Told DH who Max would like judging before the show started, and I was right on every count. Just don't know how he got Len to play along. Anyway, I'm sure Nyle and Val are very good friends and it was a bit of a joke, but you don't get nuance through an interpreter.

Manipulation works! I tried to vote for Paige last night, but the line was busy. First time I can remember that happening with DWTS. She's not the first trained dancer by far.

Witney needs to watch her sound bites too. She's a bit of a sarcastic joker and it doesn't always play well. Still so young, she will outgrow some of her over sensitivity I think. Lindsey is just always sunny and positive, isn't she? Easy to do this season for her, but she's been that way with everyone.

Lots of new background dancers last night. Brittany Cherry was back along with some other SYTYCD alum.

A bit of yelling at the screen with Antonio. As in "if you want to be part of a team, have some RESPECT for your partner"! I enjoy Von's personality, so would much rather see him stick around.

Speaking of respect, seems like Jodie can't get any. She was great last night.

I'm finally watching and good lord Witney is grating my last nerve more and more.

Bruno I just want his energy. He may be insane but he's knowledgable.

Also hate the edits this show does on certain contestants

Loved Wanye's dance. He may just be my favorite.

I felt bad for Antonio and was glad he spoke up. I'm not a huge Sharna fan. Something about her rubs me the wrong way.

Ginger is another on I can't get behind, I don't think she's all wow not like the judges are trying to make her think.

This could be a hour and a half program without all the blasted commercials!

Wanya brought me back to my childhood. Love Joey and Lance being there to support.

I'm not a fan of Antonio nor Sharna anymore. The dance if you stripped it away, feels very bare bones

I am totally with you about Paige- I commented earlier that she and Mark were way out of sync during their Austin Powers dance, but none of the judges commented on it. If I noticed, it was really obvious!

Len jumped all over Nyle during his comments after their dance. He said that if Nyle thinks he is competition for Val, or any pro, he is wrong. Then, Len proceeded to pick apart his dance, critiquing every little detail that he never mentions about other stars. I think Nyle learned his lesson, and will keep the comparisons to pros to himself from now on.

Having said that, though, I think Nyle was joking. He sure got raked over the coals for it!!

Forgot about Ginger's little tearful confessional. When she signed up for this, she had a 3 month old baby and a full time job on the other coast. She's just now realizing it?

Wanya... I just love him more and more each week. I would love to see Wanya and Nyle in the finals.

I'm becoming more and more impressed with Wanya each week. I don't know anything about Boyz II Men, so I was expecting some tough, cool dude. A street-tough & cool attitude can really be limiting as it doesn't allow one to do certain things that aren't well, tough or cool. :snooty: Instead, Wanya is very open & genuine, has a good sense of humor about himself, like when he held up the mirror ball and dressed up in the Lion King costume. He is definitely playing full out and is competitive, yet seems to be having the most FUN at what's being thrown at him. :thumbsup2 I like his attitude. :woohoo:
