OFFICIAL D23 Membership available for all Disney fans--Will you join too? UPDATE

The time of sale hasn't even been posted yet. :confused3

Hmmm, not sure what D23 is doing? I think they need to hire more staff. :goodvibes

I agree. The ticket information with the time should have been posted yesterday. The way it is now, there are Disney fans all over the world hunched over their computers, refreshing the website every 5 minutes hoping for info! :surfweb: :rotfl2:

Yes, and the site froze for a fw minutes too. argh. I half don't want to bother now.

Thanks for the update. I believe the fall issue of D23 comes out on August 2. I hope mine will be in mail shortly after.

Does anyone know when you will able to purchase tickets for the Magic & Merriment event at Walt Disney World? I'm planning on attending this year (if I can get tickets before they sell out).

Does anyone know when the Magic and Merriment event will be? Or the Sip and Stroll? For those of us who need to travel to WDW for these events, I really wish they would release the information sooner.

Did anybody here go to the last ride on Star Tours event? I would love to hear about it if you did. I would have gone, but I had to work.

Thanks.

I just joined, even though I doubt I'll be able to attend the special events. I guess I'm thinking of it as just buying the magazine ($16x4) and then I'm thinking that the calendar is probably worth about $10? So that adds up to the price I paid. Anything else I will consider icing on the cake. :lovestruc

According to attendees at this weekend's D23 Destination D event at Disneyland, the next Destination D event will be in the spring of 2011 at Walt Disney World.

No word on dates the event may take place or any other details for that matter. I am certainly interested in finding out more about this though...the event at Disneyland this weekend sure seemed like something I would love to go to.

If you hear anything about it...post it here for everyone!

Thanks.

Eric

Thanks for letting us know...Spring, though? Ugh, don't you think they should be tying this or something in to the 40th anniversary? :confused3 Not one mention of the 40th so far:confused:

The people tweeting about it said that there was a 40th anniversary tie in with the Destination D event for WDW. Why it would be in the spring is a good question though. I am sure it has something to do with the fact that they will be doing the D23 Expo in California in the fall and probably can't pull off two major events back to back on two seprate coasts.

That's my thoughts anyway...still no official details.

Eric

Nothing about Spring 2011 Events yet...but here's something about Expo...

D23 Announces The Ultimate Disney Trivia Tournament

09.25.10 - The all-new event will be part of the upcoming D23 Expo, bringing additional excitement to the 2011 Disney fan event.

This weekend at the inaugural Destination D event, held at the Disneyland Hotel, D23: The Official Disney Fan Club announced The Ultimate Disney Trivia Tournament as an exciting addition to the already highly anticipated D23 Expo 2011. The tournament will allow Disney enthusiasts to compete for the title of Disney Trivia Champion at "The Ultimate Fan Event" to be held next August 1921 in Anaheim, California.

"D23 Members often surprise us with the vast knowledge they possess of all things Disney as well as their passionate nature when it comes to who knows the most about the magic," said Steven Clark, head of D23. "So we've decided to feed their competitive spirit with a new signature event, The Ultimate Disney Trivia Tournament at the D23 Expo."

The eccentric, professorial quack-meister Ludwig Von Drake will be presiding over the festivities as competitors demonstrate their deep knowledge of all things Disney, including park attractions and shows and parades, past and present; films and TV shows through the years; consumer products, games, company history and, of course, Walt and his family. No corner of Disney's magical kingdom will be left unexplored in this quest to find that uniquely talented individual who knows more about Disney than anyone else.

Potential champions can test themselves and hone their skills by visiting the Ultimate Disney Trivia Tournament Web page, which will launch soon. A new sample question will be posted each week as well as lists of suggested reading/cramming materials, the official contest rules and exactly how to participate. Details will be available soon at D23.com and D23Expo.com.

Anyone planning on going to this year's Magic & Merriment? I was planning to go but $235 per person and no admission tickets - might be too expensive for me. Tickets can be purchased starting Oct. 26

D23's "Magic & Merriment" at Walt Disney World

Last year a delightful holiday tradition was born when D23 Members from across the country gathered at Walt Disney World to celebrate the sparkle of the season at D23's first Magic & Merriment event. Join us as we create heartwarming new memories this year.

The holly jolly happening begins the evening of Friday, December 10, when guests register for the event at One Man's Dream, the iconic Disney's Hollywood Studios attraction celebrating the legacy of Walt Disney. Inside the attraction, which is presented by D23, you'll also be treated to a private screening of Archiving the Archives, a new documentary celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Walt Disney Archives.

On Saturday morning, December 11, you'll enjoy hot holiday cider, flavored coffees and scrumptious Christmas Stollen inside the Odyssey Center at Epcot, where guests will be greeted by members of the D23 Team and some holiday surprises. Walt Disney World President Meg Crofton will be on hand to welcome guests and share some stories of the magic of the Resort at the most happiest time of the year. Chefs Erich Herbitschek and Stefan Reimer return to Magic & Merriment for another hilarious — and delicious! — baking demonstration sure to tempt your taste buds. You'll then be invited to spend the afternoon enjoying the holiday splendor of Epcot at your own pace before re-joining the group at the America Gardens Theatre as the sun begins to set.

As you nestle into your reserved seat, sit back, snuggle up and delight in the warm embrace of Walt Disney World's perennial Christmas favorite, Candlelight Processional. This time-honored tradition of classic carols and hymns sung by a choir of hundreds will be narrated by Disney and ABC star Whoopi Goldberg (The View, The Lion King). Following this special performance, you will be transported to Disney's Hollywood Studios for a sumptuous holiday feast on the incredible set of the Indiana Jones™ Epic Stunt Spectacular. After the park closes, you'll head over to New York Street for a private viewing of The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights during a special presentation hosted by Walt Disney Entertainment's John Phelan.

Sunday morning you will wake up to mix and mingle over brunch at the stunning Top of the World Lounge high above Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort. The Lounge, which offers a spectacular view of the Magic Kingdom Park, is usually reserved for Disney Vacation Club Members staying at Bay Lake Tower, but our friends at the Disney Vacation Club are opening it up just for you. Enjoy an inside look at this breathtaking building and even tour a Grand Villa, one of the most stunning suites at the Walt Disney World Resort!

After brunch, D23 Members will enjoy a very "suite" treat — exclusive tours of the stunning Dream Suite inside Cinderella Castle, high above Fantasyland. The suite is not open to the general public, so this will truly be a magical moment.

Come nightfall, celebrate together at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and relax at D23's private hospitality lounge on board the Liberty Belle steamboat for holiday treats, cocoa and cider. You'll also enjoy reserved viewing of Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade and the holiday fireworks extravaganza — Holiday Wishes: Celebrate the Spirit of the Season. And, of course, it wouldn't be a D23 event without a few seasonal surprises to commemorate the weekend! Happy holidays from your friends at D23!

Yes, they announced it there. The D23 site has yet to be updated.

I also wasn't able to get a ticket for the Times Square opening either today. Very upsetting. :sad2: :sad1: I really think it opens before they say it does. But I am glad it was limited to 2 people. Oh well. :confused3
