OFFICIAL D23 Membership available for all Disney fans--Will you join too? UPDATE

I got my D23 membership card in the mail on Monday. It said everything else would arrive in 1-2 weeks. On Tuesday (the next day), I got the Summer issue of D23 (Donald Duck cover), my membership certificate (which was alot nicer than I had expected), the welcome letter, D23 decal, and the Disneyland collectable fan that was sent out with the Summer issues. It all came together in a box. The welcome letter said the Charter year gift would come in a seperate package.

I know some people were interested in how this stuff got shipped out, so I thought I would post it here. I am still pretty excited about joining D23. I hope they keep up the little unexpected extras like the Disneyland fan. I thought that was very cool.

Using Google, I was able to find a couple of pictures of the replica fan. It's double sided, featuring different attractions on each side.

I believe the charter gift is a poster commemorating the 80th birthday of Mickey Mouse. There is an article about the image in the first issue of D23.

After getting most of my D23 stuff on June 30th/July 1st, I got my charter member gift today, July 8th. I have not opened it yet though...the 2 year old son was having quite a day and I didn't want it to get wrecked right after opening it. So, I will open it up in a day or two and check it out. It's the poster of Mickey of course, so I already know what it looks like.

According to the D23 web site, the fall issue of the "D twenty three" magazine will be coming out on August 4th, 2009. It looks to feature the Disneyland version of the Haunted Mansion on the cover.

How spooky and appropriate for the autumn issue. I can't wait!

I also saw they are offering an exclusive pin for D23 members that features Donald Duck as he appeared on the summer issues of the D23 magazine. $19.95 like most of the other pins.

I received my fall issue of D23 today! It also includeds a reproduction of lamppost art which was placed on banners on Main Streeat in 1959 accouncing the opening of several major attractions - Matterhorn, Autopiia, motor boat cruise, monorail, and several other attractions. Each member receives a one of the six designs.

One of six created exclusively for D23 members using historical art designed to celebrate the first expansion of Disneyland on June 14th, 1959. The art was used on banners to decorate Main Street USA and has not been seen by the general pubic for about 50 years.

Each patch has a different ride on it. The six patches available are Autopia, Monorail, Motorboat Cruise, Matterhorn, Submarine Voyage, and Skyway thru Glacier Grotto. Each magazine comes with just one patch.

I got Autopia. I think it's pretty cool! Of course, the collectors are going to be the first to ask....how can you get a complete set of patches?

Which patch did everyone else get?

they could use a proofreader at the production company, along with a quality assurance checker at the Disney Dept that accepted the patches.

I got the "Matterhorn Bobsleds-Fantasyand" patch!

So exciting! Thank goodness, it stayed dried in its packaging. Why the mailperson would leave it outside in the pouring rain for hours instead of leaving it in the screen door, I don't know!

You are not the only one that got the Monroail! I really was hoping for this patch, but with the correct spelling.

Has anyone contacted D23 about the spelling?

Oh no! That's such an glaring typo on the "Monoroail" patch...
I am pleasantly surprised with the gifts from D23 with our magazines, so it's not a big deal. Maybe it'll be a collectible someday.

I haven't gotten my patch nor the third issue yet.

It's so awesome to get these fun freebies in each issue.

I'm going to the Studio tour next month, can't wait!
