OFFICIAL CARS LAND, BUENA VISTA STREET, ETC., SUPER THREAD! (Updated Daily+)

It's still down- been a little over 40 minutes now. I'm at the front of the SR line or I'd bail. This is going to make the FP waits significant today.

How embarrassing for Disney! Wow not even running an hour before a breakdown.

Ok now they're saying it's going to open...

Has the RSR FP return line still been really long since opening day? Most reports say a couple hours but I saw one recently that said 15 min.

Just got back from a four day trip. We rode RSR with FP's twice. We didn't have EE so we got to DCA to line up for entry about 7:30. This is when they started letting us in to get into the FP line. The line didn't start moving until they started giving out FP's at 8:00, but it only took us about 20 to 25 to get a FP after that. One day the return time was at noon, and the other time is was early afternoon. When we used our FP's it took less than 15 until we were on the ride. We didn't wait for evening, because we didn't want to chance the ride going down, or have a longer FP return wait. We were able to see both ride experiences (Luigi and Ramone) and I have to say this ride is a blast! It was worth the wait. We went on Wednesday and Thursday

I'm wondering about character meet and greets in Carsland. My boys love Cars. They met Lightning and Mater in January but I've heard they now talk during the meet and greet. Is this true? Are there any other characters they can meet and have pictures taken with? My little guy would go nuts for Doc or Luigi. Any information is appreciated.

Mater and McQueen alternate meeting guests in front of the Cozy Cones. They are able to "talk", but it's just a few pre-recorded sentences.

Yes, we saw them on our recent trip. We also saw Red and took a picture with him. All 3 of them had Photo Pass photographers.
DJ is involved in a little dance party by Flo's. Super cute and fun!

Now that Disneyland is enforcing the end times for FPs, I'm wondering how to go about getting a FP to be able to ride Radiator Springs Racers after dark.

I've read so much about how different the experience of riding RSR during the day is from riding it at night when it's all lit up. I really want to do both, but obviously don't want to wait in a 2+ hour line to ride the ride at night. Before DL started enforcing the end times for FPs, it was as simple as hanging onto your FP until after dark.

I'll be taking my family in Aug '13 and we'll be staying at the DLH, so we'll be able to take advantage of EMH to ride RSR first thing in the morning, so I've got the daytime ride experience covered.

So here's the dilemma (and question, finally!).... I've also read that FPs for RSR run out pretty quickly, so for EMH guests, it's best to get in the FP line just before the park opens so you don't have to wait in a long FP line. Knowing how FP distribution works, it seems the only option is to wait until later to get in the FP line and try to time it where I'm getting a FP with a return time that would be after dark that night. Am I on the right track, or are there other suggestions for how to get a RSR FP with a return time that would be after dark?

I think if you line up a little later (maybe 1 hr after opening) and then when you get to the sign with the times listed, you start letting people go ahead of you until you see a time that you like.

Thanks, Rubygoose. That's what I was thinking. I'm not real sure what time of the morning they typically run out of FPs for RSR. I just want to be sure I don't get in line TOO late!

Hello,

My family and I are going to DL/DCA for the 1st time in Sept. and we wanted some insider advice from DL vets if possible, please.

I signed up with touringplans.com to create personalized touring plans for both parks for a 4-day park hopper. We will be going Friday, Saturday, Monday, and Tues. for the 1st week of Sept. (we are taking a break on Sunday for football at ESPN Zone =P).

Using touring plans, I can't seem to find a scenario where I can get RSR FP under 30 min or ride RSR under 30 min. according to touring plans. So, can someone verify that it is impossible to wait under 30 min. for this attraction? I understand its the newest attraction and I expected that but I'm just doing whatever I can to minimize wait times for my children. My wife and I are patient people, but I can't say the same for my children who are only 4 and 14 months.

People say your best bet is to to head straight for the RSR FP during EMH and wait in line for a FP or head straight to RSR during EMH to ride it early.

We are staying at the DLH so.. we were gonna through the GCH to DCA during EMH but I assume its crazy no matter what during EMH for Cars Land.

It's been said that the GC entrance to DCA is so busy that it's actually faster to go through the main gate to DCA first thing in the morning. Can anyone confirm that?

I can attest that it is NOT impossible. Multiple times, we have managed to get on RSR in 15 minutes or less, by going straight there. What's crucial is that you get there before rope drop and wait at rope drop, and then head straight to RSR using the wide right strategy, and do not stop for anything. I'm not sure about EMH, we always go when there is no EMH, since we have APs, but in our experience it is definitely not impossible! Then we go and grab fast passes for it, and have always been able to ride it twice in a day without using single rider line. I think the key is just to get there early and not to stop or be distracted by anything.
