So does anyone else think that the "bottom three" aren't always the actual bottom three? I feel like the producers like to mess around with the bottom three for a dramatic effect.

A friend of mine said they've noticed that instead of saying "you're in the bottom three" to some of the contestants, Ryan will say "go take a seat on the stools." Or something like that. Their theory is that Ryan words it that way so he's not really lying about the person being in the bottom three or not. And that is the way the producers get away with it.

Anyone think that could be possible? I don't know...it seems pretty out there. It's an interesting theory though. I know that on the finale, they say that the votes were counted by an outside party and whatnot...but they never say anything about that during the regular shows. Hmm....

Also, apparently a lot of people think that the show uses more stage effects and cooler camera angles for the people they like. That way their performances seem better and hopefully more people will vote for them.

Just some interesting theories.

Yes, definitely. AI runs a disclaimer at the end saying they have the right to do whatever they want with the votes.

I also believe they "pimp" certain contestants with like you said lighting, the last spot of the night, talking about them in articles constantly, Judges voicing their opinion on who should win Idol - YUP, I believe it all.

Anyone else get a hold of the full "Billie Jean" yet? Just how GREAT is that??? I listened to the CC version too and DC has it ALL over him. I always thought CC had one of the better voices out there -- so that is saying a LOT.

Is the full version on Itunes?

I've been listening to the YouTube version over and over and over... I looooooove it!! I like the Chris Cornell version too but David's voice is so much better.

The dreadheads were/are all genuinely upset too. We are determined to keep Jason in this competition and the whole dreadhead community is geering up for next Tuesday night' voting. :cheer2: :cheer2:

As an avid AI watcher from the beginning - I truly feel that Jason was put in the bottom three by TPTB to shake him up a bit - I'll never believe he had less votes then someone like Kristy.

I dunno. Dial Idol had him second last. Kristy was pretty much middle of the pack according to them. Dial Idol also had Chikizie last.

Dial Idol has been pretty accurate to what AI has been showing as the bottom three.

The disclaimer is supposed to be for machine votes and allows idol to not count power votes that are coming from one number.

I honestly believe that the voting is not rigged. I do believe that the judges try to influence our vote but I think that is as far as it goes.

If Ryan says they are in the bottom three, I believe they are in the bottom three. I don't think they could get away with it otherwise.

I know the whole Carly thing has been talked to death but I thought this was interesting.

She was named #15 on Blender Magazines "20 Biggest Record Company's Screw-ups of All Time."

Money For Nothing
#15 MCA’s teen-pop calamity
How sure was MCA that slinky Irish teen Carly Hennessy was going to be a gargantuan pop star? So sure that in 1999 they staked the former Denny’s sausage spokesmodel with a $100,000 advance, $5,000 a month in living expenses and an apartment in Marina Del Rey, California, spending roughly $2.2 million in all on her 2001 debut, Ultimate High. How wrong were they? In its first three months in stores, Ultimate High sold a whopping 378 copies, putting the label’s investment somewhere in the order of $5,820 per copy sold. Last seen, Hennessy had resurfaced—still looking for her big break—on season seven of American Idol.
Unintended consequence “Sausage spokesmodel” proves a less embarrassing resumé entry than expected.

Always Read The Fine … Oh, Never Mind

:lmao:

I think someone said they have to sing songs written by Dolly or Kenny.

I downloaded a few of DC's songs. The studio version of Billie Jean is awesome! I wish they'd do a studio recording of Hello.

Maybe they'll loosen the rules a bit -- after all *technically* (if wikipedia is to be believed) Billie Jean was not released the year DC was born. ;)

We've now got three studio versions to compare to the live ones. I'm finding myself liking the "rawness" of the live versions a little better. I love having the whole song, but I wish they'd do the whole song live.

I like the live versions better as well. They are "edgier". Is that even a word? :lmao:

I didn't know they had that disclaimer. It makes sense. I see that on all the other reality shows. I guess I never noticed it before. Very interesting.

I can believe Jason would be in the bottom three. but I had a hard time believing Carly last week.

Yes. It's on itunes and it is WONDERFUL. I love it way more than the live version even (maybe because a minute and a half of a song just isn't enough for me.)

Do you think they keep the people around that get the most downloads? Hmm...They'd be smart if they did since they are obviously the money-makers.

How does Dial Idol make their predictions? Anyone want to explain it to me?

OT "drivel" alert - I have 161 posts on this board. 147 of them are in this thread. HAHA! I love American Idol and chatting with other fans! You all are awesome!

It has to do with counting busy signals. Not quite sure how but that is the long and short of it.

interesting. I try voting every now and then. I NEVER get through though. I tried voting for DC for about 10 minutes this week and then I gave up.

I just realized what else was odd about David A.'s song choice.

Weren't they supposed to pick songs from their birth years? So, wasn't David supposed to pick a song from 1990? "You're The Voice" came out in 1986.

I don't expect the judges or the producers to know the year of every single song, but I do expect David and his camp to at least use the honor system. There's no way David (or his dad) would have known exactly what year the song was released; they would have had to check and discover that it was released in 1986.

At least Simon is beginning to criticize David's performance. For a while there it seemed like he could do no wrong (especially when he forgot the lyrics and there was no comment made.)

Oh they critcized his performance when he messed up the lyrics. But really what else can you say when know he screwed up so badly? We all knew it was truly awful and didn't need it hammered home by Simon:rotfl: It's hard not to feel bad for the kid. He seems so genuine to me.

BTW-I downloaded Michael Johns' and David Cook's songs from Tuesday and have them on repeat at work. They are amazing studio recordings!! I didn't like David A's song but downloaded that song too and it was surprisingly great! It gave me chills towards the end. I think if Michael can have another awesome performance, those may be the final 3 standing.

It did. But Foster did a cover in 1990.

I thought I read somewhere that it was redone in 1990.

I'm guessing this is recent and I'll work on finding out the tie in of these two but here is Ace Young and Victoria Shaw.

I found it on her myspace.

It measures the votes vs. the busy signals from voters who are voting using dial idol' technology - what that is, I don't know and I don't want it on my computer.
