Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

The problem with looking at WDW is there's a lot of men in that field. Which skews the field a bit with numbers.

Corrals will hopefully be posted in the next day or two!

Agreed! Men are faster. Sad, but true. I have the same POT for the DL half and then PHM. Granted it's DL versus WDW but my PHM number is considerably lower (though appears to be the same corral). Very different field.

Are you doing the GSC? Last year, all the numbers over 20,000 were GSC runners but the highest numbers were in the 26,000s.

Yes, I am doing the GSC. Thx!

Glad to hear that the corrals will be up in the next day or two...I was worried I would have to wait weeks!!

I am going to add my two cents to the corral speculation and maybe it will help someone....

My little sister registered with a proof of time of 1:54, and her bib number is in the 400's. So, that seems to align right along with 2014's corral placement. Mine is in the low 8,000's, which also seems to align with 2014's. Last year I was in M, but hoping that this indicates that I will be up two corrals from my previous placement.

Can't wait to see the 2015 info!

hmmm, based on last year's corrals I'm going to be kind of in the middle of the pack, which I think is overly-optimistic on Disney's part lol. (my time is based on a 10K I ran last year)

I have to say, I got kind of a thrill seeing my name on the waiver! I'm really running this thing!!

It's definitely optimistic on Disney's part for me! My 10K time is over a year old and I'm not at the level I was then. Who knows? Maybe once the adrenaline starts flowing, I'll be pleasantly surprised!

Any other Northeasterners out there stuck inside lamenting how this mess will mess with the final weeks of training?

I've gotten 26 inches of snow so far, and it's supposed to fall for 6-8 more hours. My plan this week was 3 today, 6 tomorrow, 3 Thurs and 12 this weekend on whichever day had better weather. Total travel ban currently in Massachusetts, so even the gym is out. Hopefully I'll get in at least one treadmill run Thursday and can find a route clear enough this weekend to manage 12 miles.

Last year I did my 12 miler on the treadmill due to ice on the ground. I have one word for that, TORTURE!

I've been thinking about all you Northern Princesses. Stay warm and safe.

I hope you can get out and to the gym. Better safe than sorry on the LR. I have done 14 on a TM…and it is so boring. I suggest the LR on the TM if the weather is bad to avoid slick roads.

Question - I assume 5k corrals are like the 10k? No assignment until you get the bib?
::yes:: Historically, corrals haven't been released ahead of time for 5Ks.

Actually they made the corrals smaller last year and started them closer together. About every 3 minutes. Previous years were 5-7 minutes.

Some one else asked about corrals for 10k/GSC. I was in C for the half last year and A for the 10k..if that helps.
Yep, exactly. And I was in C for the 10K, I for the half last year, in case that helps, too!

Quick question...does anyone have any idea when we can expect the corral assignment list from runDisney? (the one that tells what bib numbers get in what corral). I didn't submit a time so knew I would be near the back, but am hoping to have a corral or two as a cushion so I can stop for a few pictures. My bib number is 261xx....I read earlier that there are people with 27xxx. Does that mean I may not be in the last corral or am I being over hopeful?
They should be out any day now. It's possible you could be in an earlier corral - it really just depends on what they're doing with the higher numbers that exceed the highest numbers last year. Will they just make the last corral - or last few corrals - bigger? Or will they add more corrals? We don't know yet.

I'm doing 11 miles on the treadmill this weekend. I did it last year too. It stinks but I'm going out in this mess. My friend fell yesterday taking care of her cows and broke her leg.
Falling this close to PHM is my biggest fear

Oh no! Do you have any parks or anything nearby? My local park is a mile away and they have running trails (.5, .85, 1.0 miles) and they clean those paths well before even touching the sidewalks. So if it was really bad out I had been going there and running in circles. I switched to my alumni gym now since it got too cold, which has a small scale track. The track is too boring to run around (10.5 laps per mile) for long but on the treadmill if I go too long I get motion sickness when I get off! Not fun to feel like the world is spinning :rotfl:

Same here. I got new shoes a couple weeks ago and they have more cushioning in the sole than my old ones, and they're taking some getting used-to. I ran on the treadmill with them, and they kind of skidded on the belt and I nearly had a heart attack!

I don't blame you! I will run in just about any weather, except ice and snow. That's where I draw the line!

I won't run outside if there is not a 3-4 mile route totally clear of snow and ice, and wide enough to easily fit 2 cars and a runner. I am very happy not to be injured this year and want to keep it that way. I have a major road nearby that should be safe by the weekend, so as long as I can safely keep doing repeats there I will, but I'll be inside if the roads aren't ready for runners.

Just got an email from Disney regarding runner tracking. Bring on the corrals!!

Me too, and I immediately went to the website looking for coral info. It looked like there was a link that wouldn't load on my phone, but when I moved to the computer to try it was gone. Hopefully by the end of the week!

I want to thank you for this post! With the wind off the snow here in MD, it's 22 degrees... I remembered the gym and went there and ran around the BB courts. Best practice for the race dodging all the people, volleyball a and basketballs!

Influenza.. It has hit my household even though we all had shots! This is really going to mess things up for me!

I hope you get better soon. This year they did not "guesstimate" the right flu strain that is the most common flu strain.

Echoing this sentiment: get well soon! I came down with it last week, even though I got the shot back in September. Thankfully, I was only out for 2ish days. I think with all the running I've been doing (and, thus, chugging fluids) helped bolster my immune system so that I wasn't completely wiped out by it.

My kids have all been sick this week- so far not me! But I'm afraid it's coming. Bah!

Vitamin c and hand washing everyone. We want to see the start & finish lines!
