Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

Ran my 10k on Saturday and while I got a PR, it still wasn't as fast as I had wanted. My training has all but stopped, I just don't have the motivation lately...at all. Anyone else feeling this???

Yes! Lately it's like pulling teeth to get me to go for a run or sign up for races. I'm hoping I pull out of this funk soon!

Don't worry, I'm feeling this, too. Normally, I'm super excited to go running this time of year - I've even dubbed it "Runtober" because it's usually on the cool side and it's refreshing to run when there's a nip in the air. But, this year, it's unseasonably-warm. It was 76F when I left for work this morning. Add to that, I'm feeling a little under the weather (I think my bf got me sick), and I'm just not feeling it. Which is a shame, because I have my 10K in a week and a half. :worried:

I'm feeling the same way... I'm coming off TOT with no training whatsoever. I felt great afterwards (only two days of soreness) so that is not at all motivating for PHM. Hopefully I will get off my tail this weekend and actually be productive... :upsidedow

I'd say consider yourself lucky! I wouldn't want to try that again!

I really need some direction. This will be mine and my husbands first disney race and first half marathon. Can someone please tell me how to plan for the rest of race day. Should I make ADRs? Will we just crash? Any thoughts would be helpful. Thank you!

I had an ADR, but not until late. I went back to my room, took an ice bath (well really a cool bath, because I am a wuss) and a shower and relaxed for a while. Then I went to Epcot, wandered for a while and had dinner. Then, I went to DTD for the "party." It's not a must do, but there are some discounts and giveaways, so it is kind of fun. Then I went back to my room! Oh and I watched Dale Earnhardt Jr. win the Daytona 500 on TV! Good day.

DTD party? Did I miss something? What happens? Do I need to buy tickets??
No, not at all. Like I said, a bunch of the stores and restaurants have discounts. The DJ was there and people were dancing. They had some of the merchandise available, and Fit2Run had some giveaways. It was fun, but not a huge deal! You'll get a list before race weekend of all the participating businesses.

Anyone know of any off site hotels that are offering transportation to and from the races? Really not looking forward to the nightly rates that the host hotels are offering as I'm staying for a week and can't afford $1000 just for one of the values and that's not including food :(

Thanks,
Peggy

Started my training today! I'm still nursing a weak knee from TOT so I'm happy with my 3 mile time. It'll be here before we know it!

Ran 11:08 minute miles yesterday in the race. It was much better than the anticipated finish time. My sister and niece were using the run for corral placement. Now on to GSC training. My sister in NY ran a 8:05 minute mile this morning. She had to get to work after the race. She needed it for corral placement, too.

Still preparing for the 5K - I've booked a hotel (CBR) and looked at flights (haven't booked anything yet because there are too many factors that still need to fall into place for the trip to be definite for me, and I don't usually buy refundable airline tickets).

I did a 2.35 mi run/walk this AM ... I'm back to feeling okay when I run (past few runs were really miserable), so that's good.

I have a question for those who have done the 5K and/or are familiar with the course:
Are there water stops for the 5K? I know the longer runs have them, but not sure about the 5K.
I went through 24 oz of water on today's walk/run - I'm guessing I'll go through more with a longer distance. Is there anywhere I will get water along the course (thus saving me from having to drink it from my water bottle) or where I can refill my water bottle?

This caries by individual, of course, but after 3 early mornings of racing, I needed PHM day to be a go-with-the-flow kind of day: I made no plans at all and went by how I felt. I ate immediately after at RR, then went back to my room for a shower. I then booked over to MK for medal pics with my running group, but was beat after that - went back to my resort for lunch and rest with my feet up. By that evening, I was ready to venture out for a couple rides and dinner at DHS, but I didn't last long and was back to me resort and in bed pretty early.

Yep, there are at least 2 water stops in the 5K, maybe more. You also have access to water fountains in EP.

There's a pic from last yr that shows both the 10k and 5k. It looks like 2 water stops, one near China and one near International Gateway.
