Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

This was going to be my first half marathon. We live in a place that loses Internet often. I just got my internet back today and the half is all sold out

Are you referring to the one in January?

Is there any way you could consider the Princess in February? Registration opens on July 15th.

Oh my, I guess I missed that part! I thought they changed it to January this year! Thank you so much, made my day :cool1:

Oh, yay! I'm so happy that was the case! I was just a little confused since this thread is titled Princess, but the race that started registration yesterday was the WDW weekend ... I started to second guess myself and went online to check.

I want to do the Glass Slipper + Tink = Coast-to-Coast next year and have my reminders set. I can see now that races are selling out super quick. I'll need to be ready to go as soon as registration opens it looks like :-)

I want to do the glass slipper as well, not sure if I will be able toor not. Are you running alone? I don't have anyone t run with so I will be running it alone. I have a friend who wants to go to cheer me on, but can't run that much! When is the other one for the glass slipper?

You won't be alone! I did it last year alone but I met a lot of great people along the way. Everyone was really supportive.
I'll be by myself again next year too.

I have run three of the six alone. I run by myself in training so it's not a big deal for me. Lots of people cheering along the way and it is fun to take in. And lot of entertainment and characters to see as well.

I'm almost certain that I'll be alone. Not even sure that I'll have a cheering section. I trained for a couple of races before and had to stop each time due to caring for my husband with cancer. Sadly, we lost Brian in September, so I really want to accomplish this for the two of us and I know that he'll be right there beside me. I feel like this is a great thing to do in this period of transition.

The Glass Slipper is the 10K + Half Marathon. My plan is to take the 10K super easy ... 15 minute pace ... and save my strength for the half.

Very comforted to see that I won't be the only solo runner :-)

I'm running alone too! I'm SO SCARED! I'm week 3 into this C25K - I'm still on the treadmill - is that okay?! I have a 5K at the end of July then a really hard, hilly 10k in Cape Cod at the end of September. I'm more nervous about the 10K than the Glass Slipper Challenge next year!

My plan is the run/walk the 10k and run but stop at character stops during the half and maybe walk if I start hurting. :confused3

What does everyone else do?! I need opinions and help! Thanks so much! :cheer2: :wave2: princess:

So sorry for your loss <3 :grouphug::sad1:

And, I'll be there alone too so lets help each other out! I'll cheer you on even if I'm with ya or not! I'm here for ya girl!

Don't have to be alone...we are here for you! You have lots of time to make friends here...

So sorry for your lose...prayers for continued peace and comfort...but what a great reason to run!

So sorry for your loss. I started the 1/2 this year with a girl who had lost her DH. She said running was therapy for her. It's really helped her heal. Brian will definitely be there with you!

Being on the treadmill is fine. I trained about 80% for the Glass Slipper on the treadmill. NE weather is not kind to us.
Is your 10K timed? If it is you should be able to use that time to submit for a better corral. There is not a lot of clarity on wether the race needs to be USATF certified though.

I run/walk. Mostly walked the 5K because DD was with me. I did 1/1 intervals with the 10K and the 1/2. I didn't stop for characters because I was worried about time, the family was waiting for me, and the lines were ridiculously long.

My plan for the 2015 race is to keep running now, do my summer runs with the boys on Mondays and Thursdays and have my long runs on Saturdays.
I also plan to find at least one 10K to run so I can submit a time. I was in corral M out of P last year without a submitted time, but I may not be that lucky next time.

Good to know, thank you!

I am very sorry for your loss :( I think it is wonderful that you are going to do the run and a great reason too!

I haven't been long distance training yet, I'm still nursing my meniscus that I hurt in January. Right now I'm doing intervals on the treadmill one minute at 7.5 mph and one minute at 3.7 for ten total intervals (20 minutes).

Don't have to be alone...we are here for you! You have lots of time to make friends here...

Very happy to hear that! I would love to make new friends on here and even meet up there either at the run or at a park or something :goodvibes

Dang you are fast!! I'm doing a 5.5/3.5 1/1 ratio right now for my shorter distances. Longer runs end up being 5-5.3/3.5

I will have to go much slower for a longer run! I'm actaully going much slower than before I hurt my knee. I was doing 3.7 and 9.

Right now I'm mainly doing the intervals for fat burning, I need to get about 10 pounds to disappear! When I do my distance runs, (I'm afraid to start yet since my PT told me I'm not ready) I was doing a 7 and 5 bt ut I only went to 8-9 miles. I usually run outside and there are lots of hills for my 6 mile run. I have never ran a 10k and not even close to a half marathon!!!

Ok, I'm officially jealous!

I found that while I was doing my shorter interval the weight was coming off, but once I started hitting 8-9 miles it stopped. Then after the GSC I stopped running all together ( laziness set in) and I've maintained until about 3 weeks ago. So now I am back to counting calories and intervals again. I lost 30 in the last year but I have about another 40 to go. Hopefully that will be gone before the next GSC.
