Official 2011 MNSSHP Party Planning Thread ..BOO to You and You..Happy Halloween!

Forgive me if this has been asked already, but it just hit me!
We are going to The World with our DDs 5 & 6 and my parents. We all have tickets to the party, and plan on going in early. If the kids want to leave early, can we take them back to the hotel, leave them there with the grandparents, and then be let back into the party? What time does it go till? We are going on Oce 27th if that makes a difference.

TIA!!!

You'll have a wristband, so that shouldn't be a problem, Cheshire will probably jump in and let us know if you will get stamped on the way out, HOWEVER...
This may seem like a terribly selfish thing to say, but is there any way the DG's can meet you out front and take the children to the hotel, I am assuming the DG's don't have party tickets. It is easy to underestimate travel time and you could miss a great deal of the party.

Hey all! I am super excited to report that our group has decided on costumes for the party! We will be in Disney for our wedding, and will do MNSSHP the day after we say "I do!". Back to the costumes...DF and I had already decided that I will be going as Alice and DF will be the Mad Hatter. However, some of the other people who will be attending the party with us are going to dress up too! My future MIL will be the Chesire Cat, DF's sister is going as the Red Queen, and my future nephews (ages 9 and 11) will either be playing cards or Tweedle Dee/Dum. SO EXCITED!!! :cool1:

CONGRATULATIONS! That will be an awesome party to go to after getting married :lovestruc!

Love the costume ideas. I still don;t know what the heck to do.

Trust me, this has gone through my mind as well!!!!

We will all be at the party, grandparents included. I just thought we would want to put our girls to bed ourselves so my parents don't have to do it. Of course, they are perfectly capable of doing it, I just didn't want a "I WANT MOMMY" over-tired melt down on my parents hands!

They have actual light saber replicas at Hollywood Studios in the gift shop by Star Tours, but they sell light up sword thingies that look at lot like them at MNSSHP, along with tons of other light up necklaces and headbands and stuff. Look for the castmembers pushing the carts around the parks, they are very popular around parade and fireworks time. I personally love the light up skull necklace that looks like it is jawwing at you. It's not small, it's kind of like walking around with Flava Flave's clock around your neck.

I think Marblies and I meant one that can actually be used as a weapon, like in the movie! ;)

So excited to find this thread and eagerly await more info after the first party! We are going to the 4th party on Sept 23rd, and I know it may be a bit busier since it is a Friday but can I also assume it will be less busy being one of the first parties and not so close to Halloween? I am a "do it all" kind of person and really want to see as much as possible - will we be able to get a picture with the 7 dwarves and one at Cinderella's coach without waiting in a huge line? Will they still be there after the second parade when the crowds thin out? Any and all advice appreciated since it is our first time!!

The crowd levels in September are lower than in late October so you should still be fine. I wouldn't imagine the 23rd to be too busy

Character lines can be very long, especially the one for the Dwarves so avoiding a wait is going to be a tall order. But if you enter the park before the party starts (you can enter from 4 pm on your party ticket, but even if you were to arrive at 6) the line starts forming even before that and the best strategy woudl be to get your spot in that line so that you minimize wait time once the actual party begins.

You'll have a blast!! :thumbsup2

We are so excited to be going to this again this year. I got so many great tips off of this board and learned a lot, but now that we've been once, I think we can do it even better this time. Last year was GREAT and DD16 now regrets thinking she was too cool to go to WDW with us because now she is already planning her costume this year. :lmao:

I haven't decided our exact plan yet this year on which day we will go because we will be there for 10 days and have several opportunities, but last year on the Thursday we went, it was perfect (last Thurs. of Sept.). It also worked out great to do only MK for the party and take the rest of the day to lounge and then surprise visit to DTD and BBB for DD11. :wizard: She loved it and wore her Jasmine makeover to the party. She still talks about how pretty she felt that night. CMs are so sweet to notice the kids that are dressed up. princess: So we will probably do that again, or Pirate's League....maybe this year even mom will get in on the action. :rolleyes1

So let the planning begin! :dance3:

I am going to Disney World in October 2011. We have dinner reservations for 6:55 at CRT. I know the park closes at 7 pm for MNSSHP. We have a 1 and 4 year old and will not be staying for the party. Because our reservation is before official park closing we will be fine without the MNSSHP ticket right? Will they rush us through our CRT experience? Will we be escorted to the exit when we are done?

How late can I safely wait to buy tickets for a Tuesday night party mid Oct? I'm not sure I won't have to cxl my trip and am trying to minimize non refundable expenses.

You be just fine. Eat your meal, and take your time :thumbsup2
But when you leave your dinner, you will have to leave the park right away. You can't really stroll around - and if you try, a CM will politely ask you to keep moving towards the exit. One may even follow you out to make sure that you do leave.

I went to MNSSHP last year for the first time and had a BALL!!! Unfortunately, about twenty-five other girls had my costume so I didn't feel as awesome as I thought I would. I was a pirate so I went to the Pirate's League before the party and that just made everything better. I had a birthday pin on and the girl even changed it from Katie to "Molly Redburn", my pirate name.

I was bummed I missed out on meeting two of my favorite characters at the party, Alice and the Mad Hatter :-( But all the candy I got on their trick or treat trail kinda made up for it.

This year, I'm going as Ariel in her Kingdom Tour outfit. My mom made my skirt and corset and I had the shirt already and the black Mary Jane heels (I'm using character shoes because I'm a theater major and have several pairs). My costume's almost ready and I'm very excited. My mom even made me a bow to attach to a barrette for my hair. I'm naturally a brunette but I've been dying it red-er and I'm going to take the plunge into complete red-head-ness before we leave, so no itchy wig for me. We bought one on Amazon for a Princess event at the high school I graduated from that I was invited to play Ariel for but, alas, it was canceled and I'm stuck with this wig. It looks good, it's just uncomfortable, unlike my costume so I'm just going to use my hair this year.

Last year, My mom and I saw The parade (INCLUDING Headless Horseman) and Hallowishes. We missed the Villian's Mix and Mingle...should we try to catch that this year? Is there anything else we should try and hit. Last year, we didn't do too much research into what goes on at the party and I think we may have missed something.

I will be attending my first MNSSHP on Sept. 13th. I was wondering if there was something at the party that tells what characters are doing meet and greets and where they are located. I saw the map from last year and it shows where the characters are, but not who was there. Do you just have to walk around to each to see who’s there?

Thanks for your help!

Sounds fantastic! Do try to catch the villians. They are awesome!!!!!! I wish they were available more often. I will be reusing my Ursula costume, so all you poor unfortunate souls beware.
