Official 2011 MNSSHP Party Planning Thread ..BOO to You and You..Happy Halloween!

I'll be taking my two 4 year old grandkids to MNSSHP this year and wanted to ask a question about the candy - they will love trick-or-treating through the park, but will in no way need to have most of the candy they will gather - is there a way to let them enjoy getting the candy, but give it back later in the night? I don't want to be wasteful, but with concern about tainted candy, I understand that putting it back wouldn't necessarily be "safe".

Any suggestions?

only go to a few of the trick or treat trails....so much more to do and enjoy during the party instead!

I would SO be thrilled to see anyone dressed up as Mrs. Banks!!! Don't worry, I'm sure you'd be suprised at how many people would recognize you. Mary Poppins is a Disney staple. :yay:

Well then I think I need to start looking for an outfit fit for Mrs Banks!

I am attending the party September 20th. Excited but sad they don't do the story telling anymore. Do they tell the story of the Headless Horseman in Liberty Square?

I am keeping my fingers crossed that since Toontown is now caput that they will bring back the storytelling on the Liberty Belle, or at least utilize it as a meet and greet spot.

I'm a total Halloween junkie!! Look what I got from Bath & Body Works!!

I also got the car smellies holders, one is a pink skull with a bow the other is a glow in the dark skull. Got my Little Monkey glow in the dark skull wall flower for his room and a large foaming hand soap with green coloring and a skeleton. The mini anti-bactirial things are 5 for $5. The ghost is chocolate chew (think tootsi roll), the bats are bubble gum, the haunted house is sour drop, zombi tonic is marshmellow, and the pumpkin is creamy pumpkin. I also have a candy corn one (it's on my purse), the white part of the "corn" glows in the dark. What I didn't get is the light up wallflowers, they have a haunted castel and Frankenstien moster. There are also other votive holders and other car smelly holders.

:hmghost: Who has thier Halloween themed movie line up ready? What are you ablsolute must see or it's not really Halloween movies/shows?:hmghost:

Kids wanted to put up halloween decorations yesterday - told them we really should wait until Labor day is done then we can slowly start working on getting the house decorated.

I agree. I may start collecting supplies now, put nothing goes up until the last week of September. I'm the same with Christmas decor, it's not allowed up untill after Thanksgiving.

Well, I guess I need to go to Bath & Body Works! I love Halloween stuff, too. I'm totally ready to decorate, but I think I'll wait until October 1st. Oooh, or maybe I'll at least start decorating right before we go to the party (Sept. 20th) to set the mood. :) I'm really excited to break out the Mickey pumpkin bucket that we got last year.

Anyway, I love NBC but one movie/show I just HAVE to watch every Halloween is the Garfield Halloween Special. :)

Just saw this on FB today:

Orlando Attractions Magazine:
Some changes at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party this year include new candy stations in Tomorrowland (by Space Mountain and Tomorrowland Terrace), an expanded Villains Mix & Mingle, and the Treat Trail, which used to lead from Toontown to Space Mountain, will be set up by Splash Mountain.

Have you guys seen the Yankee Candle Halloween stuff? There's some pretty neat stuff in the catalog.

I'm not allowing myself to buy anymore Halloween decor. I've got way too much as it is.

VERY happy to hear all of that. The only place that I thought they could replicate the "Wonderland" trick or treat trail was over by SM/BTMRR, kind of by where the dock to Tom Sawyer Island is, along that walkway.

ABSOLUTELY the Garfield Halloween Special! It's one of the greatest cartoons of all time! I watch that and Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown every year, and have been since I was about 3 (now 28). So glad someone else agrees! :cool1::thumbsup2

For the past three years I've bought my MNSSHP tickets online and printed them at home. It's worked fine. I'm unable to get FPs, though, when I enter at 4 with those. Does anybody pick up the tickets at a ticket booth? If so, are they the type you can put into a FP kiosk? TIA.

Last year I got my ticket online and printed it at home, then got the bracelet when I arrived. I found that the crowd levels were such that FPs weren't really needed. (My friend and I WALKED onto POTC, Splash Mountain (start of cue directly into a boat), and BTMRR when the party had started, and spent very little time in lines the rest of the night. Longest wait was before 7pm for Space Mountain, and that was only about 30 minutes.) Hope that helps!

So I think I'm getting closer to getting my DBF to agree to a costume! yay. Right now he's willing to do Shaggy, so I guess that leaves me with Daphne. Kinda cheesy, but I'm kinda excited!! I think I will be buying my party tickets next week!

I am so torn on wearing a costume. A few weeks ago I was SO excited to go as the chesire cat. Had the costume from last year and everything. Well, it looks like it went missing and now i don't know if I want to wear another costume at all or just a halloween tshirt or just general normal clothes. Anyone have any ideas? The chesire cat costume was just a tail and ears, so i want something like that. Any advice would be GREAT

Yippeee...DH has agreed to dress up, he's going as a cowboy, and I'm doing as a witch...DD1 is going as Snow White...

First year for the MNSSHP for us! Way excited! I need costume help though! DD is going as Mary Poppins, she wants DH to go as Bert, and wants me to go with the theme too but I have no idea what to do. Her suggestions have been a penquin (since they will be in Jolly Holiday outfits but who wants to walk around MK in a penquin costume?!) or the bird lady LOL I thought about wearing a "Vote for Woman" costume though but will people understand??? I also asked her if I got be Cruella De Vil, but she siad no it's doesn't fit in her their costumes.

I love the idea of Mrs. Banks. Of course everyone will "get it". The bird lady is good too but maybe less recognizable.

We watch the Great Pumpkin every year and I always have NBC playing when answering the door for trick or treaters. I don't think I've ever seen the Garfield Halloween special. Maybe when I was a kid and I just don't remember it?

Well then I think I need to start looking for an outfit fit for Mrs Banks!

:cheer2:

I would TOTALLY get it. I'd probably walk up and say "Well done, Sister Suffragette!"
