Official 2011 MNSSHP Party Planning Thread ..BOO to You and You..Happy Halloween!

Don't forget that you can get in starting at 4 pm.

I bought our tickets online today for Sept 20. I love that I was able to buy them online rather than having to call in.

Having trouble deciding where/when to feed 6 & 7 year old kids. We could eat a huge late lunch out of the park and then try to grab fast food in the parks at some point. Or we could have table service dinner in the park at 5PM before the party starts, but it seems odd to take time out to eat when we've just arrived.

Is it unreasonable to think that we could easily get pizza or other to-go type food during the party or would the lines be long because everyone is thinking the same thing. We're going on 10/28, so I imagine it will be pretty busy.

I think you will be fine. We always eat at cosmic rays during mnsshp and i dont think we have ever waited more than 10 mins... thats including a nearly sold out insanely busy night.

I'd eat at 5, then line up for the dwarfs at 6.

5 hours seems like a lot of time to get party stuff done, but it really isn't. We try to maximize the time we have available to do things only available during party hours.

how wrong is it for me to get in-line for the seven dwarfes at 6:00 then at 7:00 have the rest of the family join me in line (that would be 3 other people, DH, DD, DS)?

Others might feel differently, but I personally wouldn't care.

I actually think it's to spread out the timeframe when people come through the turnstiles. It would really bottle up the works to have 30K people (or however many it is!) show up all at once.

Good call. I didn't think of that. Makes total sence to me (although, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some truth in my theory of it helping ticket sales).

The only time this ever bothers me is when the people then need to take many different pictures, like each of the kids alone, then together, then together with one parent, together with the other, etc. etc. etc. But if your going to wait on line and then take 1 or even 2 pictures (like one without the parents and 1 with the parents), I personally don't see a problem with that.:thumbsup2

This will be our first MNSSHP! For those who have been there before, is one night enough to see & do everything? We will have time in the park too another day. My kids are teenagers now. Also, I have heard that there are only a few place to eat during the party. Which ones are open? I thought we might do a big lunch & a lighter dinner. Thanks

Congrats on your first party! My advice is to get there early, as they will allow party guests into the park as early as 4pm. Don't try to spend the earlier part of your day doing too much, as you'll need all your energy for the night you go (trust me, I made this mistake.) The earlier you get there, the more time you have to do everything :wizard:

One night will enable you to do a lot, but I wouldn't expect to get every single thing off your MK list while at MNSSHP. As long as you have at least one other additional day in the park you should be fine.

Not every single restaurant is open, but you'll still have plenty of choices. Which ones are and aren't have actually slipped my mind since I've only been once before, but I never remember it being an issue. Actually, a big lunch might be wise. Everyone will be full and ready to walk it off. Have fun!

Planning on purchasing my ticket this weekend for Halloween night! Also have our group costumes planned out, so I'm starting to get pretty jazzed. :goodvibes

Our first party will be October 27th :cool1::banana:

We have other another park day to do rides and attractions. Is it reasonable to think we will be able to get pictures and autographs with the special characters completed in one party? We will probably skip the normal characters in their costumes unless we have time at the end, but we're hoping to snag photos with all the 'party only' characters.

It is absolutely reasonable to get pics and autographs with the "party only" characters at MNSSHP. I get pics with ALL of the characters and still watch the parade so you can do it no problem.

Thanks so much for the advice! I had thought about going to DTD or just having around the resort the first part of the day that we go to MNSSHP. We will probably be driving all night the night before & arriving early in the morning. That's what we usually do. We will be doing a "favorite things" trip this time since we are only spending 3 days at WDW & 2 days at US. We plan on spending 1 day at MK & then just deciding which park to do the second day, probably AK. I had thought about trying to get to MK at 4 on the day of the party. I am hoping that we can do all of the party stuff in 1 night. I'm only buying tickets for 1 night but I thought we couldn probably buy them for a 2nd night if we need to

I bought our tickets for 9/20, it's our anniversary too! I forgot until I ordered and said for 9/20! ha ha :lovestruc

Are we able to get autographs from the characters at the party? I thought I read somewhere that they don't sign that night, just pictures. Or, was that just the villians after the show they do?

We have 4 kids and 2 adults, do the adults get candy too?? After all we are all "kids" at Disney! :cool1:

im going to the Sept 30th party!! will be my first time and will be getting in line early for the 7 dwarfs!! so I can hopefully stand near Grumpy since I'll be wearing my Grumpy Baseball uniform!! and put Dopey on the other side and I can pass off as Happy!! LOL

We are going September 30th as well. We have 4:10pm dinner at CRT and from there heading to the lineup for the 7 dwarfs.....when and where do we get the programs so see where they will be appearing?

I am thinking of dressing the boys as Phineas and Ferb (both wear shorts, so that should work well) and have DH wear a Perry shirt...:confused3
Love that!

I also figure that there's no better way to start and end our vacation!!
We're only doing one night but it does sound like a great way to end our vaca, sept 30th. Then again a Tuesday (27th) might be less crowded... I am going to have to wait to buy tickets until I can make my mind up

Others might feel differently, but I personally wouldn't care.
Ditto. If you were alone and took 2 pics or with 23 people and took 2 pics, no difference to me how many people stand near me in line :thumbsup2

So, we're going! We went in 2009 and had a great time!!! We weren't going to do it and then I saw the tickets go on sale and I just had to go back! I will be traveling with Tinkerbell (2) Ariel (4) a pirate (dh) and the rest of us are not sure on costumes yet. Most of my son's ideas are too warm for fall in florida.
