Official 2011 MNSSHP Party Planning Thread ..BOO to You and You..Happy Halloween!

Will the October 18th and 20th parties sell out? (That's a Tuesday and Thursday.) Our first choice is the 20th, but I was wondering if we could wait until the week before to look at the weather forecast or if we should go ahead and purchase now.

Thanks!

To attend MNSSHP is it just the party ticket, or the party ticket plus the park ticket? I figure it's the later of the two, but I just wanted to make sure.

With just the party ticket you can enter MK at 4pm and you won't need a park ticket. If you want to go before 4pm you will need a park ticket

:thumbsup2 Sorry should have read up before I responded.

OMG we were planning on going Thursday Oct 13th after our cruise. Assumed there was going to be a Party that night based on historical predictions, but now I'm looking at the WDW website and I don;t see that date :scared1:

I see Oct 5, 10, 11, 16...

Please tell me I'm wrong

There is definately a party on Oct 13 th but just like the night we want to go Oct 21st happens to be one of the non-discounted parties, so it looks like you can not purchase those online, and will have to call for those dates.

They seem to have changed to Tues/Wed party nights instead of the traditional Tues/Thurs schedule. I'm not fond of this either. We like to go twice and have always done Tues/ Thurs.

There is a party on 10/13 but it is a full price night. You can not get the advance ticket price for that night.

right after I posted I noticed that they did have a Party on Oct 13th. But there was no option to buy online tickets
I called and was able to purchased them via Disney

So there is a Party on Oct 13th and I got the tickets :woohoo:

I did asked the CM when I called if we could get in at 4pm. He said said he was unsure but it would probably like last year and he said last year you were not allowed in early  strange because I was there in Sept and we were allowed in at 4pm... :confused3

Hello all, we are the Rauchbauer family and are planning our first DW Halloween trip (second trip to the world this year) and our third Halloween celebration with Disney.

Characters for your story:
Myself (Susan): over planner and lover of all Disney.
DH (Jeff): Enjoys Disney but gets tired of hearing all the planning.
DD (Kate 6): a princess in the making.
DS (Keith 4): a mouse lover just like his momma (he won't leave the house without something Disney on him).:scared1:

Plot: For the past two years we have gone to DL and truely enjoyed ourselves. We planned on taking a break this October because DH was in the frame of mind been there done that. But while reading the Disboard I discovered the DW has different characters (the seven dwarfs and more), plus a different parade and fireworks. So the past week I convinced DH how much it would be to go and he gave the thumbs up:thumbsup2 to start planning our "Annual" Oct. Trip.

Story Line: plan, plan and plan:surfweb: and hope that a Oct pin appears or FD.

Well, you're in the right place!:thumbsup2 Don't drive your husband nuts. Just hang out here and get your fix!

I was researching Halloween at DL for the first time this year. We did MNSSHP at WDW in 09. So I'm fairly aware of the differences.

The parade is the biggest and best difference. DL doesn't really have one. The cavalcade doesn't compare. This is the best parade in all of Disney. The Headless Horseman is worth the price of admission! The villains stage show is very cool too.

The weather is a little trickier in FL. It's the reason I was considering heading west instead of east. I know it can still be quite hot in CA in October, but it cools off at night. It can stay very hot and humid even after the sun goes down in FL. Of course, I'm biased by being there during record heat in 09. It does make going in costume a little more complicated.

The park is awesome at Halloween, but I don't think there are as many extra little bits of Halloween decor as I have seen in pictures from DL.

There are no ride overlays like you guys have with Haunted Mansion Holiday or Ghost Mountain...... or whatever it's called! :lmao:

Still......it's an awesome party. I wish I could do it this year, but December is looking like a better travel month for us.

Be sure to post any specific questions you have!

We were planning on going to the 10/13 party but are no longer sure if that's the best choice.

Since the 13th party is full price, does that mean that Disney thinks they will be able to sell this night without a discount? meaning that this party will be full?? Is there something else going on during this time? (like extra school groups or other tour groups, something to fill these dates up)

We still have the option of going on the 16th instead and if we can get a better discount on the 16th party then we might just change our plans around. (of course my DH might not be too happy with me as we added an extra day at the begining to make sure the kids were well rested for the party and now the party will be our 4th day there instead of our 1st)

Apparently they do think it will sell fine without the discount. In 08 a number of Tuesday night Christmas parties sold out. I couldn't figure out why. Then someone here reminded me those had been discount nights.

Given the choice, and the current prices being over $60, I would be all over the non-discounted nights. I think the discount nights will sell much better.

I attended a discount and a non-discount night MVMCP last year. I was looking forward to testing my theory. But given that it was 20 something and breezy the first night, I can't really even consider that night for comparison.

Still, that's my theory. And I'm sticking to it. YMMV.

Dont let them confuse you marianne...they try saying that every year. But you are allowed in at 4 pm with the tix. Last year we even saw them letting people in around 3:30 on our last day there as we headed out for the airport. So you better believe i am going at 3:59...ahhahaha

We where there In 09 to,the frist week of Oct. It was steam room hot:scared1:
Still love It,but if it was a little cooler for our Sept trip i will not complaine:rotfl2:

I believe it's just the ticket. We're getting AP's so it won't matter.

Correct, just the ticket. Also you can enter with just the ticket for the party usually at 4pm.

That is awesome!!! Thanks, so we can do MNSSHP on a non-park day and not have to rush!!!

I bought my tickets for MNSSHP on Oct 13th today by calling WDW, I paid:

67.05$ adults
55.44$ Kids

those are the advance prices.

not you what the other poster was referring to but if you call WDW you can buy these tickets in advance.

I am counting on that since we are not buying park tickets after the cruise.
I can't wait, hoping for good weather as last year the day of the party there was a tropical depression, lots and lots of rain. We went to the park after the rain stopped at 7pm. The headless horsemen did not ride in the 1st parade and I missed him in the second (having too much fun in the Haunted Mansion)

We had a great time, but it felt like the middle of summer, which I try very hard to avoid. We were there 9/26 to 10/2. My friend was there over Columbus Day and it was still just as bad.

So we switched to December for 2010. Guess what......... record cold! :lmao:

Not sure if I'm weather hexed..... or long overdue for "just right".

Don't listen to the CM's, you'll get in at 4 :)

We are booked to go to WDW Oct 23rd - 30th. I was planning on the Tues night party....but we are still not 100% sure we will be able to make the trip to WDW at all. I was not planning on buying MNSSHP tix until much closer to the trip...but what I've read here it sounds like the parties may sell out way in advance. Is that always the case for that week?? I knew the nights before and on Halloween sell out...but what about the week of Halloween??

So glad I found this thread!:yay:

We are planning on the Sept 23rd party. This will be our first ever MNSSHP, so I will be paying very close attention to you that will be attending just before us!

This whole trip will be a suprise to our younger DD, so I won't be asking her opinion for costumes, but I will be bringing a brand new Sleeping Beauty gown(she doesn't know about it) and her Belle and Cinderella gowns. She can pick then.
