off topic - Scabies!?!?

So my good friend just told me her two little girls were just diagnosed with scabies! My kids play around them quite a bit. Anyone have any experience with this? Should I go through all the trouble of washing sheets and such already if I don't see any symptoms...although one website I found said someone can have scabies for up to two months before showing any symptoms!! Yikes!

My kids got scabies once, long story how, but it completely grossed me out! But, actually they were very easy to treat. We went to the doctor and they had to take one tiny pill. That was it and it was over. Good luck!

really?!? are you sure it was scabies? My friend's kids have to have a prescription cream rubbed all over them for a week...nothing about a pill...and that's the treatment I've seen on website too...also need to wash all clothing/bedlinens in hot water.

My DD3's friend at daycare had scabies a couple of years ago. The daycare director called me at home at night to tell me, I was pretty much freaking out. I called the doctor and he told me not to worry about it unless she showed signs. Well she never did. So if your kids play with these girls only a couple of hours a day then I think the chances are pretty slim that your kids will get it. Our daycare is very good at sanitizing surfaces but they are still little kids that don't understand personal space!
