Just need to get this out.... our crocker spaniel was 17 1/2( so he had a long happy life) but yesterday he had a seizure and onset of something similar to vertigo in people.... we were up most of the night with him. his breath was so shallow for so long we took him into the vets and because of this and just his age we had him put to sleep. IT was myself and DH, we had our DDs say there goddbyes last night because I didn't think he would make it through the night... He was older than my girls and its just been a hard day.... oh I know we did the right thing because of quality of life and any rehab if possible would have be difficult but it still hurts.... we have buried him in his favorite spot but I find myself looking at where he rested all night and thinking..... I just had to let that out and feel alittle are together before the girls are picked up and we need to tell them... last night when they were saying their goodbyes it was hard not to cry becuase he has been with them their whole life.... his name was lord charles zachary and he was a full blood crocker spaniel born jan 28, 1991 and died today
6/6/06. he was part of the family and will be missed.....sorry if anyone is upset by this but its been a hard day....

:( So sorry for you and your family

awwww :grouphug:

I'm so sorry!

It's so hard to lose a beloved family member. There was a show on the other day and someone had recently lost a pet...another person on the show told him that you never really get over it, you just get used to them not being there. It's sad, but kinda true too.

You learn to take comfort and feel the warmth of the happy memories...

It takes time for the hurt to go away, give yourselves time to mourn and grieve and heal.

:( I'm really sorry for your loss. It can be really hard when a pet who has been a part of your family for so long passes. As the days pass, the hurt will be less and less. We're all here for you!

i am so sorry  i can't imagine losing my dog. he will be 13 on July 19th and it breaks my heart to even think of it. pets are part of the family and i can't imagine what i'll be like when his time comes... my thoughts and prayers are with you.

They become a part of the family, don't they?

I know how you feel and I'm so sorry for your loss...

I'm so sorry for your family's loss. Just remember (even if it isn't Disney) All Dogs Go To Heaven. :goodvibes

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time! You never truly get over the loss.....but time will heal the pain. When one of my dogs passed I put his collar in my purse and carried it around with me for a while......made me feel closer to him :confused3 I lost a kitten a few months back and the pain was so great I went out and got another rescue! Having my new baby helped a lot! It didn't make me forget, but it gave me a place to focus all that negative energy into a positive one :) Maybe in time you could get a new puppy to help with the loss? I know it seems hard to "replace" a family member......but you never replace them, you just give all that love to a new special friend who will become just as dear as the old one. Good luck and if you need anything please feel free to PM me

I am so sorry. Our animals have always been like family and it's very difficult when something happens to one of them. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

I'm so sorry! I know that must be so hard, I've got two Shelties, Sulley and Maggie, who are like my kids. I can't imagine anything happening to either one of them. Lots of hugs for everyone on this sad day.

I'm in complete denial about ever having to say goodbye to my Odin.

My thoughts are with you and your family!!
