Have 2 great trips coming up (Hawaii and Alaska) and looking for a more advanced point and shoot, that is light, easy and takes great photos.

Have been comparing several brands. Saw a great price and good reviews on the Nikon Coolpix L830.

Does anyone have any personal experience with this particular camera?

Thank you!

Don't forget to check the photography board. Some very savvy camera users over there.:earsboy:

Pretty much the consensus is that the Sony RX100 series are the best point and shoots. Sony just came out with the RX100 MK III a few days ago and so far it's getting great reviews.

I compared the original RX100 and the Canon S120 last fall. I ended going with the S120 due to it's smaller size and bit lower price (it is much cheaper than the RX100 Mark III). The sensor in the RX100 is larger but I liked he user interface with the Canon, it's wifi capability and its portability. I found that the RX100 was just too large to easily fit in a pocket (although it will - just kinda tight) and too heavy and large to hang from a belt loop with a case with a lanyard, my preferred method of "carrying" a camera.

While the low-light performance, a major selling point for me, of the S120 isn't quite as good as that of the earlier RX100, it's still very good for a point and shoot.

I just got the Nikon Coolpix 820 in September. So far I love it!! I replaced my Canon powershot lx150 (i think) with the Nikon. I always had the Canon. 2 trips ago I dropped my camera with lens open and it broke while at AK. I ran out to best buy that night and purchased the same camera just the more current model. I wish I never did bc it was still slow in taking pictures. Many of my shots had blurs. Last year I ended up using my Iphone to take pictures bc I was missing soo many shots with the Canon.

The Nikon Coolpix I love!! The Zoom is amazing!! I can take pics of DS15 on the football field from the bleachers-- really good closeups. I love the sports - 6 frame shots. It is a little bigger than I was looking for but I got it at an amazing price at Target. I have taken over 1,500 pics since September.

We are heading to WDW in 35 days and can't wait to see the pic quality of it.

Good luck and hope you find a camera you like
