Off to Essex Uni Tommorrow; Wish me luck! - UPDATED

Sorry Matt, missed this thread till just now. Hope everything went well and its just right for you.

Well.. That went well. I think...

We got there at 12, got a small talk by who was in charge. Then, they split me and my parents apart for the tour!!! :scared1: It was scary as anything, and apparantly people got a look of supreme Sadness from me, even though I was trying my hardest to stop my eyes from going on me.. :sad1:

The tour was great though. I've been here before, so it was not much to shout out to me; seen it once see it all! ;) We got to see the accomodation, which was nice since I didn't get to see it the first time round. The towers of Essex Uni are a bit.... yeah.... ;) But the en suite flats were brillent since A) you have 3 neighbours instead of 15, B) you have your own Toilet, basin and Shower, C) you have electronic locks, and D) It looks and feels so much cleaner! But, it's £83 per week... So I guess it's going to mummy and daddy!!! :love1:

Me and the parents met up after lunch. I had some chips at the student bar. Was still a bit sad, but was reliefed to see mummy and daddy again. I guess I am not THAT ready to go off and meet new people just yet, and I reckon I would of loved it more had I had mummy and daddy to talk to and be with throughout (or, even Carol would do... ;) ).

I went back to the lecture hall, and another dude came and gave us another lecture. Mostly bragging about how Essex is one of the best for Eco; a lot of Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah Nahs were going around.. :rotfl2: After that, we were split up AGAIN. Argh, Why can't they leave me alone!

I went off to meet the staff as did a lot of people, but I was special since I managed to get an interview with one of the people there!!! :woohoo: My interview went lovely. :) Although I was a tad nervous before I went in, but my fears melted away when I met the man for some reason. Probably since A) he stuttered here and there and B) looked like a fusion between Hugh Grant and Rob Brydon!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: It went well, and I managed to flog the fact that our School has gone onto Special Measures from Ofsted so maybe they'll be a little more considerate when they offer to me.. :thumbsup2 (that's another story in itself!)

After that, I met up with some more people; mostly just joining into small groups where I could. Met some teachers, including the guy that took the previous lecture. OK, I didn't exactly get my name well known, and we did sorta run out of topics to talk about 1/2 way.. So much that someone (NOT me!) started to talk about Top Gear.. :lmao:

After that, met up with parents again and we thought we'd skip the Student talk and go home. I had heard it before and I really just wanted to go home. We did however have to stop at the Student Support office before we went to discuss all things Asperger-ie..

We have said that I have Asperger Syndrome to them, made sure that they know we DO exist (we were supposed to get a phone call but we never did.. :confused3 ) and we discussed the Disabilites Support Allowance. Turns out that with AS in hand, I could get it after all! :woohoo: Mostly it means I can get things like Taped lessons, notes, etc etc. BUT, I may need to get Retested by my GP, since although I have a Statement of Special Needs from school which should weigh down my case a bit, I haven't actually had a GP look at me since age 5. For all we know, I could of grown out of it.. :confused3

So.. I have a lot to take away with me today, but all I can say now is, after next week's visit day to University of East Anglia, I will be in a state of "Wake me up when March Ends"... :rotfl:

Sounds like it went well! :thumbsup2

If you dont feel ready to leave your family is there any way that you could live at home and go to uni? Going to uni is a huge change and there is nothing wrong with living offsite if its all a bit much, a few people who I went to uni with were in halls and they were so unhappy that they left to go to a uni closer to home.

Sounds like the day went well, Matt, and you got a good feel of what the Uni has to offer. I hope you will keep in touch when you are all grown up and off to Uni!!

There is that possibility for me. The uni is only about 1/2 an hour down the road from my house. :)

Parents are happy; they get my washing every weekend.. :teeth: Did I mention how much I love these guys??? :love1:

Don't worry I will. :goodvibes Unless of course the Uni has a Doctor Who club... :rolleyes1 ;)

Glad it went well Matt. I wanted to stay at home and go to Liverpool University but I didn't get in so I had to go to Lincoln University and it was the best thing that ever happened to me.

Good Luck with whatever you pick.

Glad it went well. I remember it well - it's one of the biggest decisions you make in life and it's all very new and scary.

You need to do whatever is best for you wrt to living at home - I hope they make you a good offer. :goodvibes

well done Matt:) sounds like you did very well!

My dd can't wait to leave home! lol, mind you she's a tad older at nearly 19 so I think she's more than ready to fly away now;)

I've been to Essex Uni too, (I'm a home grown 'essex girl') those Towers look awful from the outside don't they, glad they are better on the inside tho!:)
